RUINED MOTHER OF THE GROOM GOWN ***This post is long over due, but i wanted to make sure this experience was brought to light considering the multiple trips my family and i had made to this establishment leaving furious with not one single phone call from the owner. The last Saturday of June i decided to take my mothers gown and my bridesmaid dress for a simple steam before my brothers wedding the following weekend. After calling first to ask if this could be done in such short notice i was told this could be done and to my surprise in two days. I took the dresses in and even noted to the person who took my mothers dress that there was a light snag at the front of the dress that i was completely aware of but i wanted to bring to his attention to make sure no misunderstandings would be made when i picked up the dress. He then stated that it would not be a problem , i left the cleaners feeling great since it was one less thing to check off my list of things to do before the wedding. I received a call from my sister who went back to the cleaners with my mother to pick up the dress , when they returned home and took a look at my mothers dress they found what looked to be large stains through out the bottom of the dress which was chiffon . She immediately took the dresses back and was told to return the following day as they would take care of it. the following day my sister goes back to the cleaners to pick up the dress which was not ready as the person at the desk stated that the owner had left ME a voicemail message stating that they would not to any work to dress until i agreed to pay $10 to clean the stains as this was not done by their establishment. i later realized he had left me a voicemail that i had not heard until then due to the chaotic schedule i had that week with the wedding and work. For one i cannot believe that the owner was not taking any responsibility for what his establishment had done to my mothers dress but on top of it he refused to clean off those stains over a measly $10!!!!!!! At that point my sister agreed to pay the amount since we were in need of getting this over and done with. Wednesday my sister returns to find not only more stains on the dress(one at the bottom that looked like a grease or blood stain) but now the embellishment on the top portion on the dress was UNRAVELING and more snags were added. My mothers beautiful $500 dress that took MONTHS to find was RUINED . at this point my sister spoke to most of the employees to which they even were embarrassed at what the dress had looked like each time they took off the garment bag that week.. My sister had told them we expected a phone call from their owner but that phone call never happened. Lesson learned, always check yelp reviews before having any establishment work with anything that has value to you. Thankfully we were able to find the same dress at another store in such sort notice but there went another $500 down the drain, i write this review to not only caution anyone wanting to take their business there but also for the owner to reflect on his lack of customer service and the ability his staff and or equipment have to handle such delicate garments. Please also be advised that whatever garment you bring for dry cleaning no matter how delicate, they will grab and throw into a bassinet with other garments, this in turn is what probably caused more snags to my mothers dress as my sister stopped the cashier from throwing it in the bassinet when she noticed on her last trip to the cleaner. read more

I cannot begin to express how pleased I am with archer cleaners service. I had two very expensive motorcycle jackets that were in the basement that flooded which caused the jackets to mildew and become as stiff as a board. I literally thought they were ruined. The owner of Archer cleaner said he would do his best to restore them. When I received the two jackets back they were like new. They cleaned the jackets, restored the softness of the leather, and the lining and pockets were immaculate. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I rarely have wash and fold laundry services. Recently I had no choice their services first time wasn't that great the detergent and clothes did not smell clean and had no fabric softener. I spoke to the clerk if I can provide my own detergent and fabric softener and I noticed a huge difference. The problem was that I dropped off clothes early Thursday morning and didn't receive it till mid afternoon on Saturday. I dropped off clothes this past Monday morning and the clerk said it would be back on Saturday. I told if can pick up Wednesday and she was adamant about Saturday. After I left store she called and said it would be ready on Wednesday. I always prepaid and she said there's no discounts even you pay upfront. When there's a sign printed on the register. However, this will absolutely not be using this facility. Because other laundry service wash and fold and bring clothes the same day! read more

I have used Archer Cleaners twice to wash my Canada Goose parka. Both times they cleaned it so well and I'm throughly impressed that they are able to remove months of dirt and grime. More importantly, they have excellent customer service and patiently addressed my questions. Unfortunately, they didn't honour the $10 off check in because the offer has expired. Initially I would have given 4 stars because of this situation, however they cleaned my parka extremely well and even at $16 it's a great price! I will be returning! read more

"Go f*ck yourself," says the tailor. I paid $24 to have my peacoat dry cleaned and 3 of its buttons sewn back on. They failed at this. The coat is in good condition and 1 year old. First, said they'd have it in a week. Day before the pickup date, they call and ask where to put the buttons. Go back, and the buttons are not where I asked them to be, but rather on the inside panel of the coat - making it completely useless. They say they'll fix it, can pickup on Tuesday. Tuesday before work, I stop for my coat. "Hi, pickup please?" "Sorry, the tailor doesn't come in until 4pm." "You said I could pick it up on Tuesday; it's Tuesday, isn't it?" Walk out, no coat. I come back today, Wednesday 12/21/16, and the buttons are reasonably well placed, but my book doesn't fit in my pocket anymore and the collar & front closure are dirty - remembering that it had been cleaned before sewing, and I had seen it clean. That's weird. Go outside, get one block, and stick my hands in my pockets, because it's cold in Chicago. *The buttons were sewn through the pockets, anchoring them to the lining and outer panels.* I go straight back, and ask for my money back. The front desk person starts to open her mouth, until the tailor steps behind her. He and I argue about the buttons, he challenges me that he can put the book in the coat. I accept. He fails, the book does not fit because of the sewing he did. I ask for my money back again. He ends with, "You're not getting your money back, I'm tired of this coat. Go f*ck yourself." Never going back to them, and you would be better off finding someone else. Cleaning is fine, the rest of the staff is relatively skilled and professional. Tailor was unable to successfully sew on 3 buttons or control himself in front of another human being. read more

My jacket was ruined by Archer cleaners and they refused to compensate for the damages. FYI: If the staff are not trained to do a specific task don't accept the job. It's simple! My jacket was returned smelling like a combination of mold and wet dog and the fur-trimmed hood was burned. When I complained that it had been ruined they refused to take responsibility. I was told to complain to the manufacturer to get a reimbursement because they knew other customer had gone that route and it worked. This place has caused me so much trouble. Originally, I dropped off my 17lbs of laundry for a normal wash and fold because I had so much work and was running out of clothes. So I decided that I would just drop it off to have it washed for me, one less thing to worry about. Yeah... not so much. When I first dropped my clothes off, the lady(I think her name was Karen) was so sweet to me and I felt really good about my choice on this laundry service. When I picked up my clothes, it took a while to find them because I was expecting them to be in the canvas laundry bag that I dropped them off in but they were in a plastic bag courtesy of the cleaners. I questioned the whereabouts of my original bag and the lady at the front desk called someone else and said the bag was folded with the rest of my clothes. However, that was not the case. When I finally went through my clothes, I noticed that: 1. My bag was NOT in the pile. 2. I did not have any towels 3. Shirts/undergarments were missing. So imagine my mood when I was ready to take a shower and had no clean towels. I then went through the bag to see what else I was missing, and to make sure that I was not mistaken I went through all the clothes in my closet as well. I came up with a list of clothes that I was 100% certain I gave them and did not just have lying around. I called them that same day(around noon) and they told me someone would call me back later about it. I waited until about 6:00PM and I did not hear back, so I decided to call back and ask about the status. The person who answered the phone was really rude in addressing my issue and quickly dismissed me as "there was nothing she could do". I called back the next morning, and the original lady who helped me in the beginning answered and was surprised that I did not get a call back from the owner regarding the dilemma and she said she would call me back. She never called me back, however I did receive a call from Alberto/Roberto Vasquez[?], stating that all my stuff was in the bag they gave me. So I went there that day to see if the manager/owner was there, but no luck so I just settled on him scanning the premises for my items, he told me that the owner would be in on Sunday at 9am to 10am. The place isn't that big to begin with, so I don't really understand how they could lose my things unless they gave it to someone else. So I waited, and went back. I showed up, NO OWNER. The guy at the desk kept telling me to call in and ask if he was there. I showed up again, and s/he was not there. The same guy who told me to come back on Sunday, told me that he has not seen the owner and to come back on Monday when they will be there(he and the customer he was helping was pretty sure of it). I called back an hour after my latest visit to check if the owner has been in yet. ( I think it is important to note that Alberto/Roberto has been there since opening @ 9AM) He said that the owner was not there and that he was unsure if he had been in already. I asked him how he did not know if his boss had showed up since he had practically been there all day (the 2 times I showed up and answering this phone call as well). He then changed his original response and said that the owner has yet to arrive also stating that he doesn't have a set time that he comes in so he was unsure of when he would come in, as the owner said he would stop in on Sunday, without a specific time. So I asked him why he told me to come back on Sunday @ 9am to catch the owner when he was not sure that he was going to be there at all. And he stated that his boss told him he would be there around that time. I feel like these people are trained to diverge conflict when it arises. Avoid this place at all cost if you want to spare yourself some trouble and time. (P.S. I would not be so focused on trying to get back my clothes if they were easily replaceable and not sentimental) They also got bleach stains on my other shirt, but I couldn't care less about that. read more

Horrible service!!! I took two leather purses to get cleaned and they they left them looking like knock offs!!! Purses were dropped off on August 05,2013 and returned to me on October 3rd. Every time I called to ask for an update and request the manager/owner Nick to call me he never did. I finally got a call to let me know they were ready and they have them to me totally ruined!!! I give it one star as a contingent star, hoping that this will prompt the owner, Nick, to call me or contact me in some way to fix the matter. I ignored the bad reviews on Yelp and decided to give this local business a try. I do not use a cleaner regularly but when I do it's for a big ticket item. A few weeks ago I brought in my down coat. A very expensive, but not new coat. This coat was so warm I could put just a light sweater underneath even on the polar vortex cold days and still be comfortable. I need two sewing repairs done, both to the lining which is tricky work. One part even involved a zipper. The sewing repairs were done beautifully. Both my mother and sister are involved in sewing jobs so I have seen good work before. This was good work. Why the one star? The coat was limp as a rag. The puffy down was all gone, or rather just flat. This coat has an interior space just for the down so that it does not come out of the coat during the laundering process, a detail that comes in expensive coats. The down could not have come out during the wash. I believe some chemical or something from washing flattened the feathers. This coat is now basically a windbreaker. The cold comes right through and I have to wear a heavy sweater, in addition to other lighter layers, to be just barely comfortable. The coat is basically ruined. On a teacher's salary, I will have to wait until next winter at the earliest to be able to replace this coat. The coat, before cleaning, had a good 5 more years in it. I've called a few times and left messages. The owner is only there during the day when I am at work so I have been unable to drop by. At this point I would take just the reimbursement of the work done which was close to $40. I will update this review if and when the owner contacts me. read more

Ruined my new shirt. I am a new customer, and on my third visit they ruined my best dress shirt which was recently purchased. I had them laundered 4 dress shirts of mine and one came back with 5 small ink spots on it - 2 on the front, 2 on the back and 1 on the cuff. I tried to get the ink marks off using alcohol and was only able to lighten them a little bit as they had already set in. The ink marks are still very visible so I won't be able to wear this to work. I won't be returning. Edited: A day after I wrote the original review, I noticed one of the other shirts also has ink marks on it, but on less obvious places - 1 on inner side of the right sleeve, 1 on collar and 2 on right shoulder, there's also a brown stain on the shoulder and I'm not sure if it's cleaning chemicals or something else... seriously wtf. I trusted these guys with my clothes and the ruined them, both shirts ruined were recently purchased. Advice: do yourself a favor and avoid this cleaner. read more

First timer came about a week ago, I don't usually take things to the cleaners but dropped of 4 white work shirts, one had ink, another blood (I work on an ambulance), and other misc. Stains, they surprisingly got the ink stain out of the pocket which I was pleased with but some of the inner lining became blue from detergent I assume and when I tried using a tide pen for a small stain and the whole section became yellow the blue mixed weird with their detergent I guess Now to figure out how to fix that myself Other than that the women were friendly and the place was clean read more

This place turned to the worse cleaners in the city after it moved Riverside square shopping complex. They promise to have your clothes back the same day by 4pm if you drop them off by 9am. Well its been 2 days now and my stuff still isn't ready, a suit I needed for a wedding tonight by the way! Their excuse is that their machine or something is at the old location and they need to transfer clothes back and forth. To not have my stuff there 2 days later is just crappy management. I like the convenience of the location, and the service is great and the price is right, but my clothes do smell like smoke sometimes and I'm not a smoker, so it really bothers me. After speaking with the owner regarding the smell, he assured me this was not tobacco smoke and just an odor from the chemicals used in the process.
