Visited the same location a number of years, ago. Took clothing in and asked the young lady how long they had the business because when I was previously there, the cleaner had a beautiful antique sofa where customers could sit. The young lady said, "no". They never had a sofa there. Upon remarking it must be under new management, the young lady remarked, "no" we've been here ten(10) years. She asked for my phone number and pulled up the matching information. This confirmed to me that this was indeed the one and the same cleaners that had the sofa. The young lady proceeded by viewing the items. Then she went to put the one suit in the gurney and dropped one of the items to the floor. She picked up and placed in the gurney. Then she got the second suit and repeated the same steps including dropping the skirt to the suit on the floor. First of all, the place did not look very clean and in spite of me bringing my clothes in so they could be cleaned, I did not care for the way she was handling my clothing. So, I stated ma'am, if you are going to drop my clothing all over the floor before I could complete what I was about to say, she grabbed all the clothing from the gurney; balled the clothing up and shoved it to me and stated, "then you can just leave"!!! In shock and taken back, I informed her I would pray for her because she had an extremely bad attitude. Also, I stated her actions are the very reason why some businesses do not succeed. I left the cleaner and took my clothing to the car and looked for a number to call the owner/manager to report the incident. Upon not seeing one, I went back to the store and asked the young lady several times who the owner/manager was and she did not respond. I asked what's your name and she continued to ignore me while looking down at her cell phone. I asked her again, ma'am what is your name. She continued to ignore me. I took a picture of her to identify who she was because she would not provide me with her name. Again, I stated her actions were uncalled for and she was acting like a bitch and left the cleaners. I'm not proud of the last remark I made to her. And, while I do regret my last statement to her, my being extremely frustrated by her actions was no reason for me to stoop to her level. They are never open on time. They have sent me home with someone else's clothes. My clothes are never ready when they say they will be. Their machines are always down. My clothes routinely come back as dirty as when I dropped them off. The management here sucks. read more

I am definitely not happy with my experience with this business. First, the kudos: Excellent demeanor on the part of the ladies who took my order as well as gave me my clothes. I even met the owner, who seemed overly pleasant in an effort to assure me of their business acumen and great service. Smiles, pleasant tones, and even a promise to ask about my concerns with the staff member who took my order when she came in for work later that day. Now, the jeers: I was a 1st time customer, and put in what I thought was 8 shirts and 5 ties. I wanted the shirts laundered and the ties cleaned. When she told me the total, I was shocked to say the least. $34?? For 8 shirts and some ties?? There was no list of prices visible, so I asked her, "3.99/shirt?" She replied as cool as the other side of the pillow, "Yes, that what the price is." and included a customer service smile developed with the sole purpose to convey that disarming "Hey, what can I do? I just work here?" demeanor. I know that the owner probably heard our conversation, but did not interject. Now I know why. I'm in Hyde Park, but I would never think it would be THAT expensive. However, I decided that I want to support black owned businesses, even though I had serious reservations about how much longer they would be in business with prices like that. She tells me that even though I dropped clothes off on Sat. afternoon, I couldn't get my shirts and ties back until Wednesday of the next week. Wednesday?? Seriously?? Sigh...I inhale, and repeat to myself again and again, "Cooperative Economics". I leave, and come back on the day my clothes are supposed to be ready, according to the text message sent specifying when everything would be ready. Lo and behold, my order is not ready. I'm pissed, because I've waited 4 1/2 days for an order I feel I've paid too much for. I leave, and come back the next day. I'm in a huge hurry, and the fact that this older gentleman is chatting up the only person on duty about some holiday that I don't celebrate even though he has gotten his order is bugging me. So, in a effort not to show my impatience, I turn around and don't face them. THAT is when I notice a SMALL sign on the wall, in 12 point type, obscured by a plant. I look closer at it and it is the price list!! It states that the $3.99/shirt I spent was to have the shirts dry cleaned!! Laundering shirts: $1.50. Now, I have to naturally wonder, do all of their customers regularly have their shirts dry cleaned?? Is that the norm in this area?? My order is there this time, but when the clerk counts my items, there are only 7 shirts and 5 ties. I ask about it, and get the disarming customer service response. At this point, I am John's dangerously bubbling disgust, anger, and disappointment. I try to bring up the fact that the price list is in small print and obscured but the clerk cuts me off with what seems like a prepared response that she's had to give more than a few times. Would it kill them to have the price list on the counter, or is that part of the tactics to get people to pay more than is necessary? Why didn't the owner or the clerk mention that the inflated price was for dry cleaning, or ask if I wanted the shirts just laundered as it would cost less? Whether it was something that slipped their minds, or their actions were spawned from ulterior motives, it left me wondering whether I was taken for a looong ride. Needless to say, my 1st experience was not of the type to make me want to come back. I'll stick with CD Price One Cleaners, who will get my things back to me same day or next day, and it's worth the extra .29 cents per shirt for the piece of mind. read more

Very good cleaners in Hyde Park/Kenwood. The owner really cares for her customers. They do great quality alterations and will get your things done quickly if you need it. Dry cleaning and laundry on premises, so your clothes are always there. Tell them what your special requests are, like cleaning collars or trying to get a stain out, make sure you let them know and they will do their best to make you satisfied.
