Contacted them 3 times and left a message to get a quote for sprinkler plans. Never got a callback. Extremely unprofessional.

I had a great experience with American Fire Protection Systems, Inc. from start to finish. I…read moreinitially spoke with Danny over the phone regarding residential fire sprinkler work at my home, and he was incredibly informative, kind, and professional. He took the time to provide thoughtful feedback and guidance, and even offered to FaceTime with me so I could walk him through the scope of work. That alone gave me a lot of confidence. Danny put my mind at ease knowing the work--simply capping off a fire sprinkler--would be handled correctly, safely, and fully up to code by a licensed professional. Scheduling was seamless, and they were able to send a technician out first thing the very next morning at 7:00 AM. Erik, the service technician, arrived right on time and was equally professional and knowledgeable. He assessed the situation, confirmed what needed to be done, clearly explained the process and timeline, and got right to work. His work was quick, efficient, and clean, and he was someone I felt completely comfortable having in my home. I would absolutely use American Fire Protection Systems again for any future fire sprinkler needs and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a company that values professionalism, competency, efficiency, and outstanding customer service.

I highly recommend American Fire Protection Systems. When I had a pipe leak that turned out to be…read morethe sprinkler system pipe, they were the only ones who knew how to shut the water off. Golden State Water didn't call back until hours and hours after I reported a water leak emergency, and the regular plumber who came out (while a really excellent person) unfortunately didn't have the licensing or training on how to solve this. The team at AFPS hopped on a FaceTime call with me and talked me through locating and shutting off the water and open the drain valve to prevent further water damage. Afterwards, they were able to come out and fix the specialized pipe. Their price was reasonable, they had a positive attitude throughout, and even identified a problem with the build where it looks like the builder didn't put a nail plate in the stud to protect the pipe. They installed a nail plate at no added cost at their own expense. Overall, they solved what was a quickly growing disaster and I am very grateful for their support. Also, although I'm leaving a glowing review--they never asked for a review. They didn't offer freebies of any kind for a review like I've seen with some other businesses. These guys are the real deal and they'd be the first ones I'd call if I ever had a similar issue in the future. Thanks for your help, AFPS!

To all of the negative comments…read more.. After reading these comments, it is clear that the "commenters" do not understand the code requirements related to fire protection equipment inspection, testing and maintenance. It is unfair to complain about a company that is licensed by the state of California and is required by law to perform inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment in accordance with NFPA Standards. Further, per the California Fire Code, a business or property owner is required to maintain their fire systems and equipment serviced and certified. It is your responsibility to ensure this is accomplished on a regular basis. As a former Fire Marshal, I have written numerous violations to business and property owners for failing to maintain their fire protection equipment as required. If you take issue with phone calls from a fire protection company reminding you that your system is in need of service, be thankful. Most businesses do not keep up with their fire protection equipment and in some instances view this required service as an "inconvenience" or "unnecessary expense". With regard to service contracts, if you don't take the time to read them and later find out you don't like something, that is on you, not the contractor. If you don't like the language in the contract, address it before you sign it. Not every contractor is perfect. But in all fairness, nor are the businesses they service.

I brought in two customer-owned compressed gas cylinders for hydrotesting and recertification…read more Hedrick's folks said they were pretty busy but accepted my cylinders and promised they would have them done by the end of the day, which they did. In addition, the retesting costs were reasonable ($20 for 150 CU FT & $15 for 50 CU FT). Special thanks to John (tank tester), Monica (admin) and the young man at the counter whose name I didn't get but is destined to be a psychology major at BYU in the near future. Tips if you're interested in bring your own cylinders for testing: 1. Hedrick typically tests every Wednesday but because the test in batches based on test pressure and cylinder size, you need to get them there as early as possible or you might have to wait until the following week. 2. Hedrick personnel recommend you bring such cylinders to them by COB on Tuesday so they can be batch tested on Wednesday. 3. If they have a lot of cylinders to test (such as their own for customer orders), it may take a week or two for them to get to outside customer cylinders. 4. Make sure your cylinders are empty prior to bringing them in, especially if they contain a flammable gas. (I didn't verify they accept such gases, so call first.) 5. Consider attaching a waterproof tag to the cylinder so that it is clear to whom it belongs. We did not (because we originally thought we were going to wait there) but had no problem getting ours back. 6. Always carry cylinders in an open truck bed in case of a leak since pressurized gas is an asphyxiant (displaces oxygen) even if inert.
