After reading these comments, it is clear that the "commenters" do not understand the code requirements related to fire protection equipment inspection, testing and maintenance. It is unfair to complain about a company that is licensed by the state of California and is required by law to perform inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment in accordance with NFPA Standards. Further, per the California Fire Code, a business or property owner is required to maintain their fire systems and equipment serviced and certified. It is your responsibility to ensure this is accomplished on a regular basis. As a former Fire Marshal, I have written numerous violations to business and property owners for failing to maintain their fire protection equipment as required. If you take issue with phone calls from a fire protection company reminding you that your system is in need of service, be thankful. Most businesses do not keep up with their fire protection equipment and in some instances view this required service as an "inconvenience" or "unnecessary expense". With regard to service contracts, if you don't take the time to read them and later find out you don't like something, that is on you, not the contractor. If you don't like the language in the contract, address it before you sign it. Not every contractor is perfect. But in all fairness, nor are the businesses they service. read more

My review is only for fire extinguisher certification services. Was a walk in and they took me, same day. Within 10 minutes, they inspected and certified my extinguisher. Only cost $18.50 (which didn't seem bad to me at all). No muss, no fuss. The tech even told me how to read the certification lunch card. They were very upfront with the process of how the job would be performed and the various options depending on what the root cause was. Once their digging crew determined the root cause we were presented with a proposal for the repair. We accepted their terms and the job was completed. They were thorough in explaining what caused the leak, showing us how it was fixed and completing it in a timely manner. This company and specifically Sherri, literally saved the day for us. Our family had been preparing for weeks and weeks to compete in a taco festival. There are many regulations that a company is required to fulfill before the Fire Department will sign off on your area, allowing you to carry on with your services. We had what we thought was the required 2A10,B,C fire extinguisher, only to learn the day before the event that we would also be required to have a class K extinguisher. We called every store, local fire department, several restaurants all to no avail, no one could assist us. We live in Beaumont and after over 20 calls, we found Cal-Counties. Sherri was so kind and informative. They indeed did carry the Class K and would certify it that same day. She asked where we had purchased our first extinguisher. We had ordered it online and it claimed that it was certified...it was not! She told us to bring it along and they would inspect and certify it. STAY AWAY. They will try to get as much money out of you as possible, and will mislead you over the phone so if you can try to get everything in writing or email if you for some reason have no other choice but to get service from here. But if you can, avoid this "business" if you can. 1) When on the phone they kept trying to push other things that we didn't ask for, like inspections on fire exits when we didn't even ask for any of that. Explanations for everything were super unclear, vague and misleading. 2) Even when I said I preferred email correspondence they kept calling and calling, and clearly did not want to go through email (I assume because it leaves a paper trail). 3) Their quotes/proposals are unclear, sloppy and unprofessional. 4) They charged our credit card before the work was even completed. Shady. When I questioned them about the service...let's just put it this way...I expected a lot more from the manager and I'm disappointed by the unprofessionalism. He blamed me for the whole situation, with word choice and tone being pretty rude and sarcastic. He gave me a back handed fauxpology, "apologizing" that I misunderstood the whole situation and basically put the whole blame on me, and dropped the "I'm sorry you feel that way." I have a lot more to say about what was said to me and the the rudeness and unprofessionalism of how they handled everything, but I will keep it short. This place needs to re-evaluate how they treat their clients. It's funny because in their response they touted how great their service was, but looking at the other yelp reviews it's quite clear that is not the case. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!! Nathan called me NUMEROUS times to get me to sign the "Renewal" Form for my 5 fire sprinkler system renewal. It turned out to be a form for INSPECTION ONLY. Of course it said it in between the fine print. They ended up coming out for 15 minutes and I was charged $350..NO CERTIFICATE!!!! When I called Nathan back, he told me it was too bad, because I signed the form. They then sent me a proposal for repairs for almost $1,800 which I have to pay to receive the 5 year certificate (God only knows how much I will be charged for them to come out again) This is a "company" of THIEVES AND CROOKS!!!! **Update to Nathan's blustering response** To clarify Nathan's erroneous claims. The "work" was performed on 09/05/19. Invoice was submitted 10/02/19, only after I called to obtain a copy to match with the work order. I was told they were "running behind". Of course the invoice was back dated to when the "work" was performed, so we were considered past due at the time we finally received the invoice. Since the final invoice was 10 times higher than the quote, I did in fact call Brian on 10/02/19 to question the huge discrepancy. Brian was just as combative as Nathan and stated "your employee sign for it, we did the work, you owe us". When I brought up the fact that they bamboozled our employee into thinking they were our regular vendor, Brian again went on the attack and stated "it's not my fault your employee is incompetant". These are true, factual statements as I kept detailed notes. No further contact until we received the call 12/17/19 threatening us with collections if we did not pay by the 23rd. Yes, we did intentionally stall in paying this invoice, that is the only true statement, and are paying under protest. There is a clear pattern to Nathan's responses to the negative reviews. You can bluster all you want Nathan, but to coin an old saying...where there's smoke, there's fire. Pun intended. Check's in the mail guys, sleep well. We are joining the many other negative reviews to add further evidence of the disreputable, shady business tactics of this company. As the others have mentioned, they bamboozled our employee into thinking they were our regular service company. They will cold call your company with the line "Hi, our records show it's time for your annual fire extinguisher service. We'll be in your area next week, what's a good time for you?". Our unsuspecting employee mistakenly assumed this was our regular service company and scheduled the "service". Average annual service for us is $300. After Cal Counties was thru gouging us for unnecessary work, we were slapped with a $1,200.00 invoice. Attempting to protest the outrageous charges is pointless, you are told "I have a signature by your employee". They will then threaten you with collections if you refuse to pay. We were forced to pay under protest to protect our good credit. Sherry, Nathan, Brian, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. They lost a customer of 14 years. Told them to cancel my service to my extinguishers, they bill me $69 for not cancelling on time. I refused to sign any paperwork since they didn't perform any work at my place. They still send me a bill for $69. No signature, no payment on their invoice. Do not use them. read more

I can't rate their services as they did not make it out for a service call. I talked to Sherry multiple times, as well as emailed with her. My requests were pretty specific and garden variety. I needed to have a fire extinguisher serviced, and I just needed to book the appointment ahead of time as I am not in my office carte blanche 9am - 5pm & I can't hand off meeting the technician to anyone else in my office in my absence. At one point, someone was supposed to call me ahead of coming out for an appointment. Never heard anything from anyone. Followed up with Sherry, who seemed to have no recollection or record of what we'd already talked about re: scheduling. By this point, the process had already taken a couple of weeks with them and I was getting close to my inspection deadline for the fire extinguishers. Cal counties came out for fire extinguisers inspection- They also started to remove fire hoses without company approvel, They were advised to stop the removing of firehose in which they did- Days later we received an invoice claiming they had to remove and install hose- In an attempt to discuss this issue with there management - they were very rude and insisted that they did install the hoses back on even though they were not authorized to do this portion of the job, they sent an invoice for completing a fire hoses- this company does not work with there clients and attempts to do extra work without authorization and invoice you for ther full amount Stay away as there are several reviews showing this comany as having bad business read more

Good Sales Person - ask you to "signed" work agreement before they come with basic service but did NOT explain about other charges. Once the tech come out and do the agreed Fire Extinguishers service, they will tell you need this and that and they ask you to sign the work order to start (without disclosing prices). And then after everthing done in few days they mail you the WOOPING invoice. I ask them why they said that you aggreed to pay anything the tech does not (don't have to) explain about any charges. It's customer responsible to call the main office and ask HOW MUCH. NEVER DEAL with this company there are lots better company that will treat you right. read more
