And our expectations were met, and exceeded! Although it's located in a funny little strip plaza, once you enter this lovely restaurant you immediately know it's different and managed by professionals. We were very politely taken to our reserved table, which they had situated in a private nook. Very nice. For a first course (and appetizer), Linda had a Tom Kha Gai soup, small, which is chicken and mushrooms in coconut milk with herbs and Thai ginger. She didn't want to share with me, but told me how absolutely delicious it was. Full of flavours, nuanced and layered. In a soup! I had the Tom Yum Goong, small, which a Thai creamy style hot and sour soup with prawns and mushrooms. The mild, delicious Enoki mushrooms, sometimes called golden needle mushrooms, were an exciting addition to this wonderful soup. Hands down, this was the best Tom Yum Goong I've tasted since my friend Mai's restaurant in Oakville back in 1997. Dinner for Linda was a Green Curry. Of course! She'll order a green curry anywhere we go, anytime! Served with zucchini, broccoli and green beans, she said it was one of the best she's ever had. Strong layered flavours. For those who love curry (like Linda), she said this is the best anywhere. I had the Chu Chi Basa, which is a basa fillet (lots, actually) drizzled with a rich red curry sauce, and served on a bed of exceptional raw young spinach. This was absolutely delicious. All the distinct flavours were present and identifiable. The fish was delicious, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. I can't say enough good about this dinner and this restaurant. It's a bit out of the way, but easy to find. It deserves to be known by all Calgarians who love authentic Thai food. Presentation: 5/5. Had the Pad Thai, spice level was mild and just right. Dish sizes were plentiful and delicious. Served with Thai Iced Tea and topped off with a coconut ice cream for dessert (which I swear tasted home made, loved it).

I visited Auttarote Thai Cuisine while on a business trip. I was told that this Thai restaurant has…read moresome truly authentic Thai food so I was excited to try it out. When I walked in, I was both skeptical and kind of in awe at the same time. It felt like I walked into a movie set or a Christmas themed museum or something. There are so many decorations up but it also kind of just works. The first thing I'll bring up is the spice level. The spice levels are pretty similar to the true Thai spice levels. A hot level was giving me a good sweat while medium was just enough to burn the tongue a bit. The food itself was adequately described as authentic and delicious. The papaya salad in particular was very similar to the ones I've tried in Thailand. Great portion size and ratio between papaya and the other vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. The other reason why this restaurant is awesome is the customer service. From when I walked in to when I left, the server and who seemed like the manager or owner made sure everyone there was taken care of and didn't have to wait long for anything. I will definitely come back here when I visit Calgary again!

The colorful décor gave the whole place a lively vibe. We didn't have a reservation, but since it was a Monday night, we were seated right away. As vegetarians who don't eat eggs or fish sauce, we were a little unsure about what we could order. When we asked, our waiter kindly brought out an entirely separate vegetarian menu, which was amazing. The spring rolls were absolutely delicious, but the massaman curry was a bit disappointing--it was watery and lacked flavor, though the portion size was generous. Overall, it was still a great experience, and I'd consider coming back to try other dishes.

For a starter we had the shrimp salad roll. We did not like the flavor of the sauce so much as has a vinegar flavor with chopped peanuts. The kicker is the menu says "2 pieces" but is really just one regular size roll cut in half for $7, not impressed with that. I ordered the Tom Kha noodle soup with chicken and my guy had the Pad Thai, where he asked for chicken and shrimp but came out with chicken and tofu. The Tom Kha soup lacked the flavors I was looking for and was a bit on the bland side. We had to ask the server for the chili dishes for seasoning and the container she brought out was basically empty, having to scrape the sides. We waited for her to come back around and asked for one with that wasn't empty. We also asked for fresh lime which I was surprised didnt come for my soup, and it made the taste much better. The Pad Thai, which I didn't get a picture of, was a good sized portion and the flavor was perfect in my opinion! I normally don't even like Pad Thai, but here they don't overly sauce it and has a nice smoky flavor. In fact we both said we would come back just for that. All in all this place has decent food, minus the salad rolls, the portions are enough and the service is ok. I would say give it a try.

Extremely unprofessional and downright rude customer service…read more We placed a large takeout order over $300 and even tipped $40+ on top of that. When we got home, we realized several dishes were missing rice including curries and laab. I have NEVER been to a restaurant that serves curry with no rice. When we called to politely ask about it, the owner herself responded with: "That's on you. We didn't ask you to tip." Then she immediately hung up on us. To spend that much money, tip generously, and still be treated with such hostility is shocking. If this is how the owner thinks customers should be treated, it speaks volumes about how little they value the people keeping their business alive. Save yourself the money, the disrespect, and the disappointment. There are far better restaurants that will treat you with basic courtesy.
