A great place to go in Olds with a great atmosphere. The service is quick and friendly. The food is…read moretasty- the Smashed Blackberry Salad is definitely something to rave about. I ordered the Burger of the Month which supports a local charity- also a fun feature. I would say at least one negative is that they ran out of all cheese cake on a Friday evening by 6pm.

If you are looking for a place to eat in Olds don't even think twice and head to Grouchy Daddy's…read more This place had something for everyone with great appetizers, filling entrees and decadent desserts. I tried the special - Chinese 5-Spice Pork Stir Fry. There was so much pork I was surprised because so often stir frys have extra filler noodles and big veg with not a lot of meat but not this one. I had lots of leftovers. My partner had the Halibut and it came with Veg and Mashed Potatoes. It was so good as well. The drinks were also amazing and I would go just for those! They went down way too easy! Grouchy Daddy's has a few speciality cocktails and we tried a couple and both were yummy. The Caribbean really brought home the taste of the coconut and the Violet Crush was mulled blackberries! We also tried the chocolate cake. Made in house served with whipped cream - really why wouldn't you? And to top it off the service was excellent. Tiffany was flawless and the food came out within minutes it felt like. And hot which I like. They even had a hockey team in there and they were managing us. Fantastic. We need one of these in

I tried a second piece with the same result. While the waitress did not charge me for the meal, I advised her that the hard water stains on the bottom of the water goblet were unsightly to customers. It shows they don't seem to care. The excuse that it's hard to get the stain off is unacceptable. I went there a few evenings back and it took 7 minutes for the waitress to come to take me to a table. She was busy having social time with the guests. The pork cutlet took another 30 minutes to arrive and it wasn't that great. The bill took another 15 minutes. The decor is in need of improvement as the back material is stained and the edges of the seats are frayed.

However, the kid working the till took the time to apologize for the long wait, so that's something, I guess. This location is also one of those Wendy's/Tim Horton's combo deals, so if you're just passing through like I was, you can grab a coffee for the road (which I didn't).

After about 5 hours on the road from Calgary (which included a pit stop to our puppy breeder…read morefriends, which, let's be honest, was a pretty big part of the trip), we needed food really, really badly. And gas. Next stop: Olds! We figured there had to be a gas station and some fast food, and indeed there was. In the same parking lot, in fact. We filled up the car with gas, moved it about a metre to a parking stall, and wandered into DQ. The food wasn't bad - it tasted just like every other DQ meal I've ever had, which I think is a good thing (and the point). We both ordered Blizzards for dessert, too. We were seriously hungry. Gotta dock a star for lack of strawberry cheesecake in the Strawberry Cheesequake Blizzard. Plus, an extra flavour cost 99 cents, when it's 79 cents at Edmonton locations. (Don't ask me how I know that - sometimes details matter).
