Visited with my niece and nephew and went out for dinner. I ordered carne asada and expected a juicy steak but I was served shredded beef. The fajita missed its signature in that it was not sizzling as it's supposed to be when it comes to the table even though it tasted good. Went for dinner with my 3 kids and my daughter's boyfriend tonight. Service was slow and not helpful at all. All 5 of us felt the food was "meh", bland and tasteless. We all ordered water with dinner and they gave us bottled watered (that could have been bought at Walmart or Costco) and charged each of us $1.05 for the bottle. Rather ridiculous to be honest. I've never paid for water at a restaurant before. Overall a really disappointing experience. Won't be going back. read more

Tequila and Tacos has the cutest and most vibrant atmosphere inside the restaurant and amazing service. My favorite margaritas come out of this place. As well, I just made the most ridiculous extra requests on an order using Skip the Dishes (extra guac and swap out a side) and they perfectly accommodated my requests without any extra charge, which for guac is rare. We were really unimpressed with this place. I had heard great things about it and was very excited to try it, but I don't think I'd come back again. We were really craving Mexican, so our family came to this location and we were excited to try it. We got seated in this weird little back corner room which was totally seperated from the rest of the restaurant and there was absolutely nothing in it. It was just an empty quiet room and it felt weird. It felt like we were sitting in a storage room or something. Our waitress was fun and friendly which was great though. We all ordered different items, some vegetarian, and some meat. The portions were small and there was barely any flavour to any of our food. It was bland and boring. We expected the food to have sides and garnishes, instead it was just like a couple corn tortillas with a splat of meat in the middle. Absolutely nothing to go with it. We felt really disappointed overall and decided we wouldn't be back. I had heard so many great things about this place, but I just don't see the appeal. read more

Every year, we come to tequila and tacos for Cinco de Mayo. It's always busy and there's usually a long wait if you come after 5pm. So we arrived sort of early (4:20pm), there was still some empty table but it was still reasonably busy. One of the waiters threw menus at us 20 minutes after we had been seated and ran away before we could even say anything. He did not return to our table until a couple minutes after 5pm. We ordered our drinks, appetizers and meals all at the same time. We ordered chips and guacamole as appetizers and the table beside us that got seated 45 minutes after we arrived received their meals before we even received our appetizers. I was not happy. Not at all. After over an hour and a half. We received our meals before our appetizers and when we asked the bus girl that brought us our plates, her only reply was "it's on its way" - lets just say we never got the chips&guac. The food was good. But * There was no ambiance, no music - we got to listen to other people's loud conversations and the sound of the dishes and the microwave in the kitchen. * There was NO service. It was obvious that they where heavily understaffed. Which; this is your busiest day of the year and you have 1 waiter taking orders and taking care of the til/cash register. And one or two ladies taking plates out and clearing out tables. - You'd think they'd get an extra waiter or two for the weekend. * Mismanaged on a next level. - pretty sure we could have walked out and they would have not noticed until 3 days later. The waiter asked us what we had ordered when came time to pay, luckily we're honest people and told him everything but I'm sure not so honest people would have said half their orders. This will be the last time we come here for cinco de mayo. We will be going to a fast-food style Mexicain joint from now on. Food was good, it's always good. I ordered the enchiladas roja, there's literally only dry chicken in them. They are flavourless, and honestly I only ate 2 bites before I decided to write this review. I only gave 1 star because it's the lowest I can. .5/10 will not be going back. Save yourself the 16.75, I'd say these are worth 12 pesos. read more

I really love this place. My friend and I go all the time. Food is good. Margaritas are weak so we ask for an extra shot! I have to say Though that we've never really got good service. Which makes me sad. Took almost 20 minutes to get a drink after we were seated. I had heard about this spot...and everything people have said is true. The food is amazing! You have to get past where it is located, which is attached to a dumpy motel. But you know what... it kind of feels like Mexico and the best food is in obscure places. I believe it is family run, based on the fact that the kids were there and just sitting down for a late lunch with family. Looks like they do takeout as many people were picking up food. We sat down and had a quick lunch. Tortilla soup was amazing and my husband had chicken mole. Wow! It's worth trying out. Airdrie desperately needs good restaurants... they have pubs and fast food. This is amazing food and casual that you can take the kids and go in with flip flops. They do serve alcohol. Please try it... I want them to do well. read more

Came here with my daughter.." It's Authentic!!" I have to say the service was fine, The server was alone and it got quite busy yet he kept up the pace and the wait for food was not long..so I totally appreciate that!! And if I was looking to have some fine, fine tequila, this would be a place I would come back to for that! I ordered the Pico and chips: The chips are AUTHENTIC...love that!! However in Mexico, these chips and small amounts of hot sauce are given to each table..day old tortillas can not be used for anything else so deep frying them is a way to not waste food and give customers a free little appy, or like Italian restaurants ALWAYS give you a basket of buns and butter...but here in Canada it seems we are charged...ok, I can deal with that BUT the pico was not fresh..I know this because I make Pico de gallo at home and the veggies in it go limp and soft overnight...the cilantro was soggy... I also ordered Fajitas...I was delighted they made me a VEGAN version..so all veg, no cheese or sour cream..they totally got that right. But they used some spice in it and the Guacamole which is not supposed to be in either...maybe garlic powder? It left a nasty taste in my mouth...There was a lot of veg given to me and I was able to take some home with me. :) Guacamole: again..this did not taste right..garlic powder in it? soggy cilantro (guacamole doesn't need cilantro) soggy chopped tomatoes...this guacamole was nothing like the guac you get in Mexico..(Avocados, onions, salt and lime!!) There was zero lime flavour in this dip...sad, as its my favorite dip. I had the fajitas and the pico with chips and my bill was $24. A little on the pricey side for what I ordered. A MUST if you come to airdrie!! The best Mexican food I've had, sooooo amazing!! I've only ever ordered takeout so I can't comment on the serving experience but the owner is extremely friendly. The food is very authentic, I normally get the fajitas (honestly the best I've ever had) and the prensado tacos are also my favourite. Everything is made fresh and has unique Mexican flavours. I went with a couple friends to try out this restaurant. It was a Friday and lovely outside. So patio was crammed under the awning .. lots of space for tables on the rest of the patio but they only have picnic benches. Tables and chairs with umbrellas would be awesome so maybe they will get some in the future. We ordered margaritas , they were ok. I thought they could have been a little more flavourful. We ordered guacamole and chips and salsa, our server brought them out fairly quickly however I had to asked if we could have small plates or napkins. He brought a napkin dispenser. (Better napkins would be appreciated. ) Our entrees came next. And I was a little disappointed. My rice was good and flavourful, refried beans were good however the enchiladas were not baked in the sauce. They were chicken stuffed flour tortillas folded with sauce ladled on top. They were just OK. I realize that areas of Mexico prepare things differently and I heard the owners are from Mexico. Having travelled to Mexico very frequently for the past 35 years I was expecting it to be exceptional. Food was very good. The guacamole was fresh and so were the dishes we ordered. The shrimp tacos and fish tacos were excellent.The margaritas were delicious. BUT the service was terrible. The waitress treated us like we were a nuisance. It took ten minutes (not busy time) for her to even speak to us. Then she was picking at her nails why we ordered. She didn't even attempt to make us feel welcomed. After a few drinks , when my husband ordered a couple of shots of tequila- she told him he wasn't allowed to order more alcohol. This wasn't because he was drunk or rude. It was the weirdest experience. When he questioned her she backed down. I honestly think she just couldn't be bothered with us. I worked in the industry for 12 years, 8 of those as a manager so we are never disrespectful. At one point she stood on the patio and put her hair in a ponytail, then went in and picked up drinks from the bar. I saw her do her hair again in the restaurant. She forgot to order a few items too. At the end we asked for a bill that never came. After 20 mins of not seeing her, I went in to ask for the bill. She told me that we have to come to her. Fine, but why were every other party getting table service? The other waitress was obviously much more competent. When we went in to pay she asked what we had. My husband told her that was her job. She clearly hadn't punched anything in. As a former food and beverage manager, I'd have a serious problem with this employee. I usually tip 20-25 percent. For the first time ever I considered not leaving anything. Iv'e had poor service but the servers at least try to do their best. This woman couldn't have cared less . It was the weirdest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I hope management fixes this because they are losing money because of this waitress. read more

Even though the surroundings for this restaurant are sketchy (the restaurant is attached to a low-rent motel), this is my favorite food in all of Airdrie. The menu is full of authentic Mexican food made with love. The service is like you were in the home of the restaurant staff. The male waiter has brought us taster samples of dishes so we can assess the spice heat level before ordering as well as deciding if we want to try an unknown dish. So generous! I try a different entree each time I dine and am thrilled with everything I have eaten. They also make the best authentic margarita. I always have Tres Leches dessert - this restaurant makes the best version - not soggy. It is very reasonably priced, clean, and family friendly. We take every house guest to this restaurant and now our guests request to go again and again when they return to Airdrie. read more
