Rueon has been a go to of mine for about two years now. They're family owned, short wait time and have a large menu. They can be on the pricey side, but the quality and quantity of the food you get is worth it. I recommend the dried ribs, egg rolls, and Kao Pad :) read more

The missus kept going gaga about this place since she had been here a couple of times without me. So on our way back from Calgary to Edmonton we decided to stop here for an early dinner at 4:30pm. It was quiet when we arrived but by the time we left the place was quite busy. The Satay, papaya salad, Phad Thai and soup were pretty good. However it was the curries which took the gold. We have often seen at Thai restaurants that the various curries have a common underlying flavor irrespective of the color. Here we ordered a green chicken curry and a yellow vegetable curry and boy they were so unique. These were not as thick as the curries we have been used to, however they were so full of flavor...I just can't begin how to describe it. The vegetables were plenty and tasted fresh. Rueon is an unassuming Thai restaurant located in the Northern half of Red Deer off Gaetz. As is the case with most of the better Asian restaurants, the place looks like nothing from the outside and has dated decor including Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. The menu is full of standard Thai offerings: red, yellow and green curries, pad see ew, pad thai, panang curry and coconut rice. On this visit, I shared several dishes including pad see ew with beef, a special fried rice with pork and shrimp and a red curry with chicken. The red curry was flavourful, but a bit thin and needed rice to be absorbed. The pad see ew was a bit greasy, but had a nice savory sauce. My favourite dish was the special fried rice, which was brightly flavoured with fresh basil. I'd recommend Rueon for family style dining or a great take out meal. read more

Had the red curry, while friend had a stir fry, both had a good amount of spice to them for 2/3 chillies which was nice, both had unreal flavour, very delicious, right up there with best curry I've had, will be back for sure next time I'm in town read more

Last night I went there with a friend and they accommodated us with vegan Coconut Tom Kha Gai soup (ask no chicken broth or chicken) and Vegan coconut curry with coconut rice and veggie salad rolls with peanut sauce. This was probably the worst Thai food I have ever had. Pad see ew was not even remotely close to accurate flavour and ingredients it tasted like it was cooked in something dirty and. It tasted more like fried rice then anything my husband had pad bai gaprau which was basically all onions in a dirty watery greasy soup. Also yes I have been to Thailand and this was a disgraceful attempt. read more

We've tried all Thai restaurants in Red Deer but this one stands out. The food has been consistently great, everything we've tried so far has tasted fantastic and authentic. From the spring rolls to the yellow curry chicken to the pad Thai, all superb. Also for a light meal my wife and I love their lemongrass chicken with veggies over vermicelli and fish sauce, it's awesome. The service is really good too. Highly recommended. read more
