So good- we ate it all before we remembered to take pictures. The Caterpiller, Spider and Tropical rolls were delicious. We had shared a yummy matcha cheesecake as well. Server was very kind. The restaurant is clean and fun. read more

Went here for lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered the sushi combos which come with rolls, a salad and miso soup. The miso soup was very flavourful and I liked the freshness of the salad. The sushi rolls were pretty basic, I enjoyed the spicy salmon as it was whole pieces of salmon but didn't enjoy the spicy tuna all too much as it was just tuna chopped and mixed with tempura crumbs. We also had the heart roll which was good. The server was kind and very attentive. read more

Good size restaurant. A wide selection of Sushi and Korean menu. Sushi was too much rice, otherwise tasted good. Friendly service. Recommend read more

Momo Sushi offers excellent, fresh food at reasonable prices. Five years ago, you couldn't buy sushi in Red Deer - now we have three excellent sushi places! I had a combination sushi/maki dish and a pot of tea. My meal came with salad and miso soup. Portions were generous and the food was very good $15.00 all in. read more

Very good food and great service. Best sushi in Red Deer if not all of Alberta. Soups are delicious and lots of it. Keep coming back. read more

I still can't even believe that the best sushi in Alberta is in Red Deer. RED DEER. Three of us were driving to Banff for a ski trip and decided to grab some food in Red Deer while we were passing through. I felt like sushi and was totally ready and committed to grabbing some from Tokyo Express. As it turns out, there isn't even a Tokyo Express in RD, and why would there need to be when you have Momo!? I turned to my Yelp app to help find a sushi place and they by far had the best reviews. Yes, it is a bit off the highway and you have to drive a bit into the city, but it is completely worth it. The prices were cheap. Like, $4.99-$6.99 for maki rolls which were HUGE. For the amount of food we got, we would have easily paid double in Edmonton. Further to the portion size, the food was actually so delicious. All the fish tasted fresh, there where huge chunks of fish or vegetables in the rolls and the salmon sashimi took me back to my happy place in Vancouver. Even though we took the food to go, I can vouch for the service being excellent. My friend brought her dog along on the trip and asked for a miso soup bowl full of water in addition to her food order. The woman was totally cool with it and even bagged the bowl separately for her. Just a nice extra touch. I can't say enough good things about this place and the food. Thank you Yelp for pointing me in the right direction (as you tend to do). read more

Momo Sushi - A look at the inside. Long and narrow, but lots of seating! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Red Deer, Alberta

A really decent little sushi bar, and I mean little, just on the southern edge of down town Red Deer. I don't want to sound too much like a big city sushi snob, but it's not really near the best sushi or sashimi I've ever had nor that I would expect out of similar spot in Edmonton. That being said, it's pretty good, especially for the price which is really reasonable. The difference is mainly that the fish is not first grade sushi grade fish. It certainly is not inedible, but you don't get those subtle secondary flavours you should really expect from first grade sushi or sashimi. There are notes of smokiness, nuttiness and even citrus that just aren't there. Aside from that, the sushi is well made and the rice is good. Certainly better than a Tokyo Express, even though it's middle of the pack in a larger city. read more

I had a very brief experience at Momo. Even though I didn't have time to eat anything during this work week, I made the conscious effort to visit at least ONE local place to check out what Red Deer has to offer. Seeing as how Jason L. gave a decent review, I decided to check this place out. It was during lunch time, I needed to get something quick, so I ordered their teriyaki chicken rice bowl. It came with a salad and miso soup which was nice. The meal looked yummy, but the chicken wasn't what I expected. I expected the teriyaki sauce to be a bit sweeter, but it was sans sweet. It looked like they offered sushi and bento boxes during lunch which looked okay, but nothing special. Overall, this place is not bad considering the fact tht Red Deer only has three japanese restaurants. The service was very friendly and fast. I liked that a lot. read more

I'm exploring more of Red Deer's food scene, and this a definite keeper. I love sushi, and I was very satisfied by the service, menu variety, and sushi. I highly recommend their sushi pizza. Unexpectantly filling, and made to share. The specialty rolls are just right in proportion. I would come here again. If you're feeling Asian cuisine tonight, skip Blue Dragon Thai and stop here. read more

Pleasantly surprised by the new expansion!! Service was good and food was good - I did think the rice was a bit too warm on the sushi rolls so things didn't stick together that well. read more

Momo Sushi - New side!! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Red Deer, Alberta

I came to Momo because the one in Kelowna is one of my favorites. The food quality at the Red Deer location is was excellent, but the service left a bit to be desired. My waitress was actually eating while she served me. I watched her take a bite of a sushi cone from the service area then approach me. Her mouth was so full as she tried to speak and chew at the same time that she had to cover it with her hand so food didn't fall out. I'm quite aware of cultural differences, and I'm pretty forgiving but I guess being served by an eating waitress was a little too gross for me. The restaurant is clean and pleasant, but it was late on a weeknight and I was eating alone, and was seated right next to the only other patrons in the spacious dining room. I've found this common in other Asian restaurants and I'm not sure if this is for the convenience of the server or another cultural choice that I don't understand. So if delicious sushi is all your after, give it a try. read more

Oh my gawd!!!! So freakin amazing best Sushi in Red Deer!! Affordable, great atmosphere, delicious Sushi. Lots of selection on the menu. They do have food other than Sushi if sushi ain't your thing. Waitresses were very friendly, helpful and courteous. Lots of seating, street parking..within walking distance to the ever popular "Ross street Patio". Also very close to the beautiful City Hall Park. Easy to find as well. read more

The takoyaki were ok but the chicken teriyaki was pretty crap. The veggies didn't smell or taste fresh, and the tuna in the tuna sushi roll was dubious enough I wasn't willing to try it. All in all pretty disappointing dinner to have gone to the other side of town for read more

This is our favorite sushi spot in Red Deer. Great sushi, great prices, and awesome staff!

Maybe it was my unlucky day as i was told to eat here from everyone, so i did only to get my spicy tuna served as a pile of what smelled like rotting fish. it was total mush. I called the lady over to look at it, in which she proceeded to poke it with her bare finger than sniff it ....gross. She complained nothing was wrong and took it to the back for replacement, in 10 mins she brought out another plate with the exact same problem. never eating there again. read more

I am a huge Sushi fan, and have been a resident of Red Deer for a long time. I've lived in the Greater Vancouver Area, as well as Boston, and have had access to (what I would consider to be) some really amazing sushi places. When I returned to Red Deer and my friend heartily recommended Momo Sushi, I decided to give it a shot, just to see if it compared. It does, and in some way, exceeds! The sushi tastes great, it the rice is well prepared, the fish is fresh (that surprised me), and all of the rest (avocado, tobiko, etc) is top notch. I was really surprised at how good the place is, and cannot recommend it enough! Other reviewers have commented on the service being mediocre - I have not encountered that. Communication has always been great, and I have nothing but nice things to say about every experience I've had here =) read more

I come to Momo all the time! They recently (last year) explained their restaurant doubling the space which is great! I usually do take out here and they are so accommodating. I am vegan and love their tofu teriyaki, and veggie maki rolls! They will customize them to make them vegan for me which is great. One thing that annoys me is they are closed from 2:30-4pm which would be fine except they will not start making an order until 4:30. I've called for take out at 4pm multiple times and I can't come get it until almost 5. So really they should say they are closed until 4:30pm! Shiso in Red Deer is open all day but Momo has different dishes and jumbo avocado rolls so I still enjoy coming here. read more

Love momo sushi! Great variety and cheaper then other sushi places in red deer. Coming from BC I was disappointed with sushi options in red deer but then found this little gem. They're renovating right now so that would fix the one issue I have (it's really small). Once the renovations are finished this place will be unstoppable! read more

Really nice fresh food- my favourite sushi in Red Deer. Very small seating area though.

They have decent food. Nice decor. Quick, attentive service. Overall a favourite stop, especially if your in healthy food mode.

Not sure what you feel like for dinner? Momo Sushi have amazing sushi and sashimi with quick and prompt service. Amazing sushi!!!! I will never go anywhere else. If I meet any of my friends I always suggest we meet here. My kids and husband love it and we can't get enough. The tempura and the special in house sauce and the array of maki rolls has me coming back. The service is polite and friendly and they know who we are now when we come. Food is always fresh. read more

My friend and I had gone to this restaurant for the first time because we had heard "good" things about it. We each ordered two separate dishes and they both tasted like a bum. The food had tasted like it came out of a can and was all mushy. I myself only took one bite and quickly stopped there due to the disgusting taste left in my mouth. My friend, however, did not stop even though she knew something was very off. After around ten bites she looked at me and whispered "I am going to vomit" she then proceeded to vomit into the cup on the table. I politely told the waitress what the issue was and asked if we could get something else instead. She said no we can't because her Manager is not in so we were forced to pay for the food we did not eat and now I'm sad, its been a year. read more

My wife and I were in town for the night and decided to go here for supper. My wife had never been to a sushi place and I am a relative newbie too. The service was very fast and also friendly. The food came quickly and was very good. My wife does not eat seafood so she had the teriyaki chicken dinner which started with salad and miso soup, then tempura veg and shrimp (which I ate) and the chicken which came on noodles with some veg. Also a bowl of rice. I had the salmon and tuna sashimi and the eskimo roll. All of the food was nicely presented and very tasty and fresh. We both enjoyed our meals. No complaints. We would definitely recommend this place. A good experience. read more

fresh, I like the fact that they use the yellow ginger. I will definitely be back each time I am in Red deer.
