We were on our way back to Calgary from Edmonton and decided to stop by red deer to try some Vietnamese food. The pho broth was very bland but the rice dish came with like 5 pieces of pork so best bang for your buck. Overall, it wasn't very good so I will probably not come back again. Sorry for the rating, just being honest.

What I ate! Very delicious. Talk about strong espresso

The powder mix boba made me fell like I was about to throw up but it was yummy. I didn't order the food so I don't know about that.

The broth for their Pho had a very bad after taste. Not a fan of it. I didn't try anything else.

Red Deer has a handful of great local restaurants and this is one of them. We found the restaurant last year and I have been back 3-4 times since and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is kinda hidden as it is off the main streets of Red Deer in a commercial area but don't let this turn you away. The food and portion sizes are great, service is friendly and all for about $15-20. The decor is pretty plain and its very casual, but if you haven't tried Blue Dragon, I highly recommend it.

You wouldn't expect a restaurant such as this to be in an Industrial area, but here we are, or rather there we were. The interior is what you would expect in a warehouse type environment, but they did what they could. Our server was great and took very good care of us while we were there. The food was pretty good, but not excellent, which it has to be to get that extra star. My Dragon bowl was quite good, but lacked that real impact in spite of the additions I added. The lovely K had the lemongrass chicken curry, which didn't appeal to her. We would return, but probably for lunch only.

Came to Spinnakers last month while in Sylvan for a hockey tournament…read more It's a small little mom and pop shop that started out as a coffee shop and has evolved into Vietnamese and bubble tea. I was sooooo excited to find a little hole in the wall and even more excited when I saw CAT artwork on the wall. While we dined we chatted with a few locals. Hubs ordered pho, I ordered vermicelli, and we shared salad rolls and an iced coffee (though I ordered Vietnamese iced coffee). The adorable older couple were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately the flavours did not live up to the excitement of what we had hoped for. That being said the prices are probably the lowest you are going to find for a restaurant in Sylvan and the atmosphere was pleasant. And to be fair, Vietnamese is my absolute favourite food in the world. There wa nothing wrong per se with the food here, but everything was missing that extra something that makes you want that dish again - hubs noted a lack of depth of flavour in the pho. The salad roll was probably the best item we had here. The locals next to us recommended we try the house special chow mein or fried rice next time and the chicken bun. I had ordered the beef bun with spring rolls and did not care for the texture of the beef. If reviewing on the food alone I would give 3 stars but the sweet owners, adorable cat decor, and favorable prices bump this spot up to 4 stars.
