Cameras are great, nice and clear. Cannot give a 5 star due to being put into a 5 year contract, and on thier website it says no contracts as you see in the picture below. Then they won't let you out of the contract by doing the following.... Vivants customer service is horrible. The times I call to ask questions regarding my long 5 year contract and canceling it I get the run around. First person I speak with, didn't know how to tell me what the balance or payments were, took 15 minutes to figure out what I was looking for. Then transfers me to loyalty to talk about canceling, put me on hold for 10 minutes then comes back saying they are really busy and puts me on hold for another 15 minutes. Then it sounded like they were picking up the phone I got hung up on. Now mind you, I have tried to call multiple times, and this happens every time. The Last time it was 60 minutes then got hung up on Now I am starting to think this is there way to make the customer so frustrated that they just say forget it. Jake Roga told us he would cover the transfer fee for our Vivint equipment because we were about to move into a new house and were hesitant to purchase the system knowing we'd need to transfer it within a month. When it came time to transfer the equipment, he told us he would only cover the fee if we gave him a referral -- specifically someone he could try to sell to in person. That condition was never mentioned beforehand. We also tipped him $100 during the installation, which would have more than covered the transfer fee itself. On top of that, the original quote he gave us was over $4,000, but we later found out we were able to purchase the same setup for a little over $1,000. Had security system installed on March 20, all sensors working with exception of motion sensor in garage. Do everything to try and get it to detect motion nothing. Reinstalled to over door in garage again surprise nothing still contact Vivint customer service to request refund for equipment. Get transferred around to five different people. They want me to help them troubleshoot their equipment. I purchased for $7.99 per month that if I had issue with their equipment someone would come out and fix any problem. April 7 contacted customer service and informed they that they have until Thursday to have a representative contact me or service will be cancelled here it is Wednesday and nothing and their equipment is not cheap. There systems is mostly offline you have to call them at least 3 times throughout the day. They would transfer you to so many different people. You have to be on hold almost 2 hours with them. Nobody showed for my installation today. I called to find out what happened. I got to talk to an apathetic customer service rep who said my appointment was canceled by THEM a few days ago because they "were never gonna be able to fulfill it because they don't have enough service technicians today". When I asked why No one bothered to call me to let me know they canceled it so I didn't waste my whole day waiting I was provided with lackluster responses deflecting the problem back to me.... Because somehow I requested a day that is "always too busy"?!! When I set up service, I spent over an hour on the phone with lori. She didn't make any mention of the day I was requesting is being too busy. She simply took my money and made an appointment. Zero accountability. Apathetic and dysfunctional employees. The man, I was speaking to claims to be the only supervisor. Offered nothing to make it right showed zero interest in fixing anything took zero accountability. He actually became frustrated with me for not accepting his BS excuses of they don't have enough field techs.... Please do not get Vivint! We decided to continue Vivint service from previous owners but that was a big mistake! Their security system is fake. Some examples- I had armed the house and an error happened on Vivints system and the door got unlocked on its own (the app got jammed and i could not lock the door). I called Vivint for help and they said they cannot do anything since they need an adult to be at home for them to come and help. Another instance- we opened the backyard door (and went out) while house was armed and the alarm kept ringing and we couldn't hear it. Guess what- nothing happened, no one came! This made me realize the security is fake. I decided to cancel it but they kept charging for 2 extra months. After many hours on phone with customer service they agreed to refund me the 2 extra months charged. Its been over 1.5 years and these liars have not yet refunded the charges. We were heading home and about a block from our house when we received a Ring alert that someone was at our door. As we pulled up to our house, I watched one of the two men try our front door handle to see if it was open. When we got out of the car, they both seemed nervous and said they were with Vivint and "were in the area" selling solar panels. Not a company that honors what they promise! Even with proof! I have wasted so much time and energy trying to get an outdoor security camera that I was told was included in my package. When I initially was speaking to the sales rep to start services, I told him I wanted the outdoor security camera included and he gave me two pricing options, $1,300 for a tech to install, or $450 for the DIY and I install myself. I took the second option because I am handy enough and it was a great savings. I receive my package of security system items and noticed the outdoor security camera I wanted was not there. I called Vivint and was transferred to the wrong department 3 different times and each time was a 20 minute hold. They were going to have to transfer me again and they told me it would be about another 20 minute hold time. At that point I had to hang up and call back the next day as I couldn't hold any longer. The next day I call back and the same thing happens!!! Transferred incorrectly 3 different times with about a 20 minute hold time each time! At this point I was furious. Why can't anyone help me and get me to the right place?! Finally I spoke to someone who was able to help me. I told her I did not receive the outdoor camera I was told was included in what I ordered. She then told me the outdoor security camera isn't included in the DIY package. Gave me pricing options for packages with the outdoor security camera. She said she had to reach out to the rep to see what he offered me. She wasn't able to reach him by phone so she sent him an email to get back to her and said she would get back to me once he responded. She also gave me his info. A couple days had past and I never received a call back. I emailed the sales rep that sold me the system. Two days passed and never received a response back so I called and left him a voicemail. Another two days passed and never received a call back. (Apparently they don't care about they customers). I called the main Vivint number and complained that the rep wouldn't respond to any of my attempts to contact him regarding the matter. The customer service rep I was speaking to said they could pull the phone call and if he promised me the outdoor security camera they would honor it. They said I should receive a call back in 24-48 hours with the results. So....6 days later, nothing! so I had to call back to get the status. The rep I was now speaking to said it didn't appear that the call was pulled yet like they said it would be so this rep put in another request, again said it would take another 24-48 hours. 48 hours passed and again, you guessed it, nothing! So I called back and they asked for another 24 hours and they would get back to me. Finally, the I get a call regarding the call they pulled and they said, while the sales rep didn't say the outdoor security camera wasn't included in what he quoted me, they wouldn't honor it since he didn't actually say it was. So they sent me the call for me to listen to. This is how the call went... we talked about what I wanted, doorbell camera, sensors, outdoor camera, and motion detector. He then said "for the for the option the total cost of the equipment with the backyard camera you looking at $1,300....then your other option is the DIY which you do yourself, in which case says we can do the sensors and everything else and reduce down the cost to around $450..." Now to me, when someone tells you it includes the sensors and everything else, that means everything you just spoke about is included. "Everything else" is all encompassing and apparently Vivint doesn't want to recognize that. On my last phone call with them on 2/17/21, I told them all I want is what I was promised. I asked how much is the outdoor camera, they said the camera was $399 plus a $200 installation. I said OK I shouldn't have to be a loss here because you're not giving me something that I was promised, if I get the camera then you guys should be able to cover the $200 installation. He goes to talk to his manager and says and we can get it down to $125 for installation for you if you want to buy the camera. I told him absolutely not! The fact that I'm going to pay $400 on something that I should have already received, and you're not going to fully cover the cost of installation is absolutely ridiculous. That's not even half of what I'm about to pay. So I declined and as soon as I am out of contract I am switching to another company that actually cares about their customers and honors what they tell them. Vivint has wasted so much of my time! Having been with ADT for probably over a decade, I grew tired of some of the issues with their equipment, and especially with their upgrades and installation. But ADT is a different story. At least they try to work it out, with tangible results. But, In looking for an option, something new, I called Vivint. After all, they are shown on line as being a direct competitor with ADT, have really good cameras, but in reading some of the negative reviews I was a bit cautious, but I explored this option anyway. I called and spoke with one of their sales Reps, whose name I did retain just in case. He seems to be a nice guy, and mixed info with stories and established a comfort zone. But then again for example, so do many used car salespeople. We went over the needs of a system, but already having one, I had a good idea of what I needed. He referred to a view of my home, presumably from a map app., and made claims about cameras that were kind of hard to agree with, as with angles of walls, one camera does not fit all. We went over motion detectors, cameras, and every now and then because I was I suppose, such a great or nice person or something along those lines, he would sweeten the pot, like free water sensors etc. When I asked about the pricing he said that would all be provided with the package. A verbal mystery I suppose. I had my concerns and said that I was not going to agree to anything until I discussed it with someone here, to actually go over my ideas/concerns. But the pricing was verbally I'll say, "avoided" until at the end of the conversation, I was sent the agreement to sign. I said I would wait and arranged for a tech to come a few days later to go over things, and if anything changed, he would provide a new contract. Oh yes, you can finance everything over 60 months so no worries......right? On a related note, when any alarm company claims that they will have police or fire rolling right away for your alarm, well unless you live in a small or very calm place with a bored first responder force, that is simply for the most part, not true. A burglar alarm is a very low priority call, and here in California where property crime no longer matters or so it seems, they get to it, when and even if they get to it. Again some slower towns may have a different experience, but overall, a burglar alarm is way down there on the things to do list. Fire alarms may be a different story, don't know about that so much. In this current situation, the police are often hours or hopefully minutes away, when seconds count. Reality can suck my fellow homeowners. Back to the issue at hand. When I read the contract proposal, sticker shock set in and I did not with to spend the high dollar amount, financed or not. It would be smarter in my case, to fix what I had, and put up with it. I texted the salesman and indicated that I would not be going any farther, (I didn't sign or agree to any sale) and to please cancel my appointment with the tech. By the way, they owed me the $50.00 fee, fully refundable in the event of a cancellation. We shall see. After a couple of days without seeing or hearing anything about the cancellation, I called their cancellation department and spoke to a rep there. After offering to lower the price, he finally acknowledged the cancellation and said my refund would take place in a few days. OK, we shall see. On the day before the scheduled but canceled tech appointment, and after I received several texts and e-mails asking if I was excited about Vivint (By now I was anything but excited) he asked if the installation time was still good. I was very clear, without killing the messenger so to speak, that now I understood their bad reviews, and could not believe that this was not a sales tactic, which was at this point insulting, or at the very least poor communication on several levels in these high tech times. He said he would cancel the order. We shall see. It is too bad they play their sales in this way. I think their cameras are nice. Great cameras or not, it is too bad they have people that play these kind of sales games. And if this is not a tactic, well they need work on their communication systems. Work on that Vivint. But in any event, I won't be back. Decorative good quality security doors, a dog and good neighbors are some ways to deter crime, Lock your backyard gate (s) and don't leave your garage door open when you are not in or near your garage, no matter how much you wish to show off your car or perhaps your safe. An alarm with an exterior siren is a good deterrent as are cameras. Finding the right company for that is, as I have learned, not so easy as one would think. read more

I had an equipment issue, specifically with an exterior camera. It was an issue I thought previously resolved and led to some frustration on my part. An Initial miscommunication with the tech assist over the phone eventually led to a Ms. Maria Voeks from executive resolutions contacting me to follow up on my issue. Outstanding support, great customer service, and I walked away feeling like a valued customer. She maintained contact with me throughout this process and made several follow up calls after the issue was resolved. She arranged for Jeff A. and Cameron Mitchell to come to our home and troubleshoot an intermittent fault, they both are two of the best technicians I have had troubleshoot any technical issues in our home. They ran down a software issue, replaced suspect cables, and replaced a monitor. I would trust both these gentlemen to troubleshoot and repair our home security system and highly recommend them to do your Vivint install. I plan on upgrading by adding some smart home features and will be contacting this team for their support. read more

When we agreed to allow Vivint to place solar panels on our roof, we were told that the panels were theirs and they would maintain them. In return we would get a new roof and use the energy we produced at 24 cents per kilowatt hour, any extra energy that was left over would then be sold to the grid. Sounds good doesn't it... Not really... What we where not told is that we pay for our production, which is way more than we use. They can't tell us what our usage is. At the end of the year we will get credits back from SDG&E. After talking to SDG&E our credits will never make up for the amount we paying now per month. We can't really talk to anyone, all customer service is off shore, you can't get the same answer twice. Our sales person will not return messages. I have never been so upset and stressed out. Our SDG&E bill was normally $200.00 per month on level pay. With Vivint it's about $420.00 per month. We have completely remodeled our home, new heating/air, windows with new energy efficient appliances and new insulation. If it was explained to us that we would be paying over $400.00 a month for the production of our panels would not have signed up..Please, please learn from our mistakes.. Do, not believe anyone from Vivint, or there sales people. They will say what ever sounds good, to get you to sign... We are so disappointed and frustrated... My wife has tried to cancel this service twice previously, the last time she was told, by their representatives, that only the panel notifications could be turned off for the service due to me getting calls in the middle of a deployment zone when the alarm would trip. We moved out of this house 10SEP2015, were told at that time that since we were under contract it could not be canceled (the system was promoting Vivint since we were at the end of a cul-de-sac, and were told it was free at the time by the salesman). We called again in 2016 for the cancellation due to the aforementioned phone calls in Afghanistan even though I no longer owned the house. 056 / 100 - 2017 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. Vivint was recommended to us by my husband's co-worker. We really liked the things they offered (at reasonable price points!) so we scheduled an appointment to have them install. The window of time they gave us was for Thursday, 12PM - 4PM. The sales rep had done an amazing job of reeling us in, so we were pretty excited to get going with Vivint. We both took time off and pretty much scheduled everything around the window they provided since we had a lot going on in general (movers, landscaping, etc.). The day arrived and we didn't see any sign of our technician. We got a call around 12:30PM from our tech saying that Vivint had double booked him and that he was running behind because of it. No big deal imo, that kind of stuff happens. He said he'd be about 30min or so behind, so the latest we would see him was 2PM. 2PM rolled around, still no sign or phone call from the tech. 3PM, still nothing... 4PM and STILL nothing. Not even a phone call. I called the technician up and asked what the status was. Our window was 12-4PM, but it was 4PM and he STILL hadn't called to let us know what the situation was or what was going on??? He seemed surprised (almost like he had forgotten???) and told me that he was STILL working on the other home, it was a lot bigger than anticipated, and that someone had messed it all up and he was fixing everything (???????????). I told him that we wanted to have someone else come out if possible as we were told installation would take 4-6 hours. If someone miraculously appeared at 4PM, that would put the new technician installing until 8-10PM. If we stuck with the technician we were assigned, he would get there (on a miracle) by 5-6PM. Added 4-6 hours to that and you get 9PM-12AM. WTF? We spoke with a customer service representative and asked that a new technician be sent out. After 10-15min of being on hold, she said that wasn't possible but that our technician would be on the way shortly. We told her that while we understand double booking happens, we no longer wanted to work with someone who couldn't even coordinate or keep in touch with us. If he had kept us updated on the status, it wouldn't have been a big deal but he was radio silent for 3-4 hrs. We could have done A LOT of other things (filled up on groceries, picked up landscaping gravel and sod, etc.) in that time span but we didn't because we had decided to wait on Vivint like suckers. LOL! In the end I guess it's a good thing we didn't go with Vivint. We looked up the reviews afterwards and Y I K E S! These reviews are actually pretty scary (Vivint not responding to alarms going off..?) and seems pretty common (just check their Twitter mentions), so this was really a blessing in disguise. Avoid Vivint if you can, I would never recommend them to anyone. read more
