Incredible experience with Smart Shield! New house in Carlsbad literally had the wires ripped out of the hard-wired security system and hadn't been used in years. Somehow they were able to restore all of them and added hard-wired cameras, glass break listeners, smoke detectors, remote front door lock, and tied into my existing garage door openers - all controlled by the easy-to-use Alarm.com software. Mateus did a great job configuring the alerts and teaching me how to use the mobile app. Yud brings an incredible amount of knowledge from his experience and military background into designing your system. I am not happy with the product or service. I previously has a wired ADT system that was not visible, now with this system, I have visible sensors that fall off every time I close my doors. They didn't bother to come to my home to give me a quote and then said that once they were at the home if I decided to cancel before installation, I would forfit part of the payment. What a rip off, you can install the same type of system by buying it yourself at Costco and sticking the sensors on to the doors and windows and plugging it in the system yourself. It was extremely expensive as well. When I called to complain, I didn't get a response. Emailed my complaint of dissatisfaction, no response. I don't feel safe and my stomach hurts to think about how much I paid for such a cheap product. read more

The alarm system works flawlessly, very easy and user friendly app and we love the lock and doorbell that they installed with the system. The best part for us is the auto arm/disarm they they setup. I had Smart Shield Systems install 6 cameras at my home in Lake Elsinore. I asked for two in the front of my house, 2 on the side of my house at my gates, and 2 at the back of my home. The technicians installed 2 at the front of my home and 4 at the back of my home. This cost me 3,800+ dollars. The original quote was only 3000. They then told me it would be an additional 700 dollars to move 2 of the cameras at the back of my house over to the gates on the side of my house where I had asked them to be. My advice for anyone looking to use this company is make sure everything you want is in writing, and detailed. Ron the owner told me on the phone that his technicians would put the cameras exactly where I wanted them, but this never happened. EDIT: This review is for an install that happened on April 12th 2021. I notified the technicians that I was unhappy the day of the install. I gave your company a chance to make this right first before posting a negative review. If you would like pictures showing how two of my cameras are pointed directly at my neighbors homes on both sides of my house I would be happy to send them over. If this is how you address an issue, I guess there is nothing more for a future customer to see. read more

I have no idea what has happened to Smart Shield over the past year. I cannot get them to come out and help with their broken down camera system to save my life. We put in all of their new cameras as they suggested and for the past three years, they have never all worked at the same time. I am promised over and over and over and over that someone will call me to schedule an appointment to come out and no one ever calls. Forget ADT. Seriously. My family originally said ADT is so well known and must be the best. Just because you're the most well known does not mean you have the best reputation. That's how I explained it to everyone when I was shopping for home security. Agreed? ADT was on the list and yes, their pricing is decent but the service, extra charges, late appointments had us frustrated. Ron at Smart Shield was polite and followed through with appointments. His quote was fair and accurate. Install was done by another gentleman who was nice but said we had more doors/windows than what was originally estimated. Ron took care of the issue (as he was the one who gave estimate). There was an issue with cameras so the installer had to return. I agree with others that it's amazing that everything can be done/seen/taken care via smartphone. The keypad for entry is now all digital as well. Note that there is a 36 month contract but most companies require this. The follow up was efficient. Don't forget to obtain an alarm permit for the monitoring (it's only like $10/yr). Definitely give this company a call when you're getting bids. read more

I've had smart shield for 2 years now and I just added 4 starlight cameras and some smart devices. The camera app and technology is great, easy to use and very user friendly. The alarm and smart home is just something out off this world. I come home and open my garage and the door will unlock, system will disarm, lights will turn on and a/c will kick in. I cannot recommend Smart Shield, my reasons were as follows, during the ownership of my alarm the panel went dead, Smart Shield uses Dynamark Monitoring, to get in touch with them is a total nightmare they are what I call a Mickey Mouse operation, eventually I did get to talk to someone and they sent someone from Smart Shield to replace the panel, the installer then messed my front door lock and again month after month to get in touch with someone, they agreed to replace the lock at MY expense at triple the cost that I could buy a new one at a Home Depot or ACE, when I questioned it they said it was a "special type", I called the manufacturer of the lock and they said that is not true and BS, I then terminated the service as they would not fix or warranty their work. The bottom line is if you want a Mickey Mouse operation and you want to be cheap this is the company to work with BUT when things go wrong expect terrible service, I moved to a company that not only warranties their work but they do the install they do the monitoring AND have a real 24 hour service that you can reach out and talk to someone 24/7. read more
