We have just moved into a new house a month ago, we immediately wanted to install some home automation devices and alarm system and cameras. We contacted Smart Shield for a consultation and quote to install a comprehensive alarm system at our home. Ron came out the very next day and walked us through everything they had to offer. He was punctual, personable and incredibly helpful when it came to walking us through our options and making fantastic recommendations to ensure we were completely covered. Ultimately, in addition to the camera system, we included the smart controller for the garage door and front door. The team that came to install the following week also did a fantastic job. Tony was the installer who put in all of the components once the wires were run. He also was awesome when it came time to educate us on how the whole system worked -- not only within the house on the main panel, but also through the user-friendly phone app. Later that night, we even got to test out the awesome new setup after inadvertently locking ourselves out of the house. Very mediocre company and I'm pissed I'm locked in for a few years. So my alarm isn't working. Doesn't record. Super right? I've been asking for help. "They'll call you back" they say. Sure they do. Like 10 minutes before they close. Then when you call they're closed and have to repeat the process. They had someone walk me thru online setting. Yup same thing doesn't work. Smoke alarm went off doesn't go off either. It did within the first few months that I got it. Anyhow. Finally after begging they say they'll send someone out to me. Just for the mere price of $65. Ya know to have them restore a kind of important feature and possibly one of the key reasons why I opted for an alarm. I bought a ring alarm for my other property. Next time I'll just switch to them. They just installed 4 CCTV cameras and 1 ring and I couldn't be happier. Awesome customer service from Ron in sales, to Karen behind the phone and Yud with his install team. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the market for some extra security Never done this before, but felt compelled to edit my prior review... The first weekend I had the alarm installed, that same Saturday we had our first false alarm. That next Monday I received a $400 bill by the SD Police because apparently you need a $10 permit to have a alarm. When I contacted them they said it's written on the contract...which it is not. They then tell me they told me over the phone and the sales rep supposedly told me. None of that was true. I told them that had I known, I would have paid a merely $10 and gotten the permit. They didn't even look into what caused the false alarm. To top things off, I got 5 cameras total...4 CCTV and 1 ring to my outside yard because I didn't have power. At the time of sales appointment, they told me as long as I get power their(outdoor outlet) I can change the ring to my fifth CCTV for $270. After I got the outlet approval from my landlord, I went back to them to say that I'm ready for the 5th CCTV . They now told me instead of $270 , it would be $970 to add one camera...when all 5 cost me $2,300. After I told them that I wasn't happy about getting a $400 ticket they told me to negotiate with the police...which doesn't work. Instead of offering some kind of break on the 5th camera, they tripled the price. Just be straight up with people from the beginning, no one has time for gimmicks. I was also told I would get a follow up from the office regarding my $400 bill...that didn't happen either. read more

From start to finish - extremely unprofessional, terrible customer service and overpriced. I paid a lot of money to have cameras put in all around my home. The installer was creepy; he left bits of wiring, plastic, trash all over my house and even found one of his tools; and he removed the insulation in the attic to put in wiring but then never put the insulation back (which was discovered after we were constantly having to run our heater and spending tons of money do so). The cameras were accessible through an app on my phone, but then I got a new phone and it turns out that my account was not set up properly and was not linked to my email and had no way to access my cameras anymore. I called, got transferred and run around through various departments and then finally got emailed back and told that they would come back out for $95. I said that it wasn't right that I had to pay for them to fix their own mistake and they just never responded to me. I wrote again and still nothing. We have installed this alarm and camera system at our home/office and have had this for a few months. The alarm system is good and works well along with door locks. We can control remotely, which is very handy. I was very happy with the installation process of the alarm and cameras. They were clean and tidy. My problem is the camera system. It does not integrate with the alarm and the program for the camera could be the worst I've used for a camera security system. If you use cameras to detect movement, I'd recommend you look at it first...it's called SmartPSS. It seems like this program is more designed for real time security vs. alerts when there is cross line or motion detection. I can't get notification alerts to match up with app notifications. Tech support (not Karen) for SmartPSS is very difficult to communicate with and when I work with them it takes a very long time. The camera quality is great but I'm not getting the alerts I would like from this. I would not use these cameras again with this app. UPDATE: company asked me to put to 5 star review from my 3 stars with a promise of an improved camera app. Unfortunately this has not happened. There is a new app that looks different but works exactly the same as the old one. read more

Got a call from Ron within the hour and scheduled an appointment for same day, talk about service and accommodation. Ron arrived (super punctual), reviewed the existing alarm configuration and consulted with us regarding our needs, making recommendations to secure the house for the best price. The installers arrived on the scheduled time and day and did a superb job, both in terms of checking All the existing wiring and updating the system flawlessly. We have been using security systems for the last 9 years. I've never seen something more interactive then smart shield system. Beside the fact that the alarm system is fantastic and has a 2way voice it also comes with a some smart home features. The most amazing is that the devices actually talk to one another. So we have a setup that every time we come home and put our code in the smart lock it automatically disarms the system and turn on lights. It is frustrating when you feel like someone is trying to up-sell you, which was definitely not the case with Ron. The equipment and monitoring service is definitely state-of-the-art, which I also appreciate. I don't want to have to worry about installing new equipment down the line. I love that I can control everything from my Iphone. I was recently out of town and was able to disarm the system remotely (and simply) so that my sister could get something out of the house.
