I will start this by saying what I like. I like the 24 hour recording rather than only recording when it's triggered. I also like on the panel that you can view your doorbell camera, this is nice since I don't have a peephole. Unfortunately their tactics are shady. I had a rep come to my house offering a buyout from brinks. I was not unhappy with brinks, but the items above were convincing to me. I did not sign up right away, but when my in-laws were looking for a system I had gave them the number of the rep. They signed up and the rep told them to have me call and he would give me a referral credit if we signed up. The rep gave us the updated quote which ended up being $20 more and without a second camera, they told me the promo was over. Stupidly I still decided to sign on. They told me if I had the tech come that night they would waive the 1st 2 months, so I agreed. We started the buyout process, which was a total pain. We had to get a buyout letter from Brinks's, when we got the letter 2 weeks later, I sent it to the rep. Vivint sent a debit card that was supposed to cover the cost of the buyout so we could pay it, the debit card was about $400 short. It took 2 months and many phone calls to get the amount increased and it still didn't cover the amount I submitted. I ended up getting charged for 2 extra months of brinks and Vivint charged me the whole time as well. I asked for a refund on the 2 months of Vivint service and they told me I should have canceled even though I didn't have the spare money to pay for the buyout. I also asked why I didn't have the initial 2 months waived as agreed. They told me they just waive the equipment not the service. To which I said if they aren't paying the finance company, then they were misleading since I will still need to pay it on the backside anyway. It has been crickets since. When I am done paying this off I don't know if I will keep the service, I feel like I was scammed. read more

Our experience with Vivint, Inc. has devolved into an absolute nightmare, leaving us feeling completely held hostage by a company that prioritizes billing over customer service or contractual obligations. We strongly advise anyone considering Vivint to look elsewhere - for your own peace of mind, and your wallet. The issues began on May 19, 2025, when a technician visited our home to simply change the batteries in an upstairs motion detector. As a 50+ year old who experiences dizziness on ladders, I had proactively called Vivint to confirm that this service, including the technician's fees, would be covered by the Maintenance/Protection Plan we have been diligently paying for since March 2021, and again since July 7, 2023. We were assured it would be. Imagine our shock when our next bill arrived a month later, showing that the Protection Plan did not cover the visit. To add insult to injury, the bill included an alleged "upgrade" to our Vivint Security system, for which we were charged over $300.00. This was a complete fabrication; no such upgrade was installed, nor was it ever discussed or authorized. On May 30th, we called again, attempting to resolve this exorbitant and fraudulent charge. During this call, we also informed Vivint that, effective July 1st, we would no longer be residing at the property. We fully expected a straightforward cancellation process. What followed was a relentless and futile battle for resolution. We called the Vivint Loyalty department twice on June 16th, and then the Vivint Cancellation Department on June 20th. Each call was met with unhelpful responses, runarounds, and a complete lack of accountability. To this present date, we are still allegedly being covered by Vivint, even though none of us are living in the household, and the system is no longer functioning. We are being billed for a service we cannot use, at a property we no longer occupy, all while being ignored by every department we attempt to contact. Vivint, Inc. has demonstrated a shocking disregard for their customers, their own service agreements, and basic ethical business practices. We have been trapped in an infuriating cycle since before May 2025, and now more than ever, we feel completely abandoned and unable to receive any assistance. In good conscience, we are not, nor will we ever, recommend Vivint, Inc. to anyone - not to our family, acquaintances, friends, neighbors, or even complete strangers. Wow, where do I begin!! Well, the alarm system and cameras are WAY overpriced. So started with the salesman telling us everything is covered for the life of the service for free. So if any of the camera or sensor or door lock stop working they will send someone out. No charge And they all covered. That's my Warrenty. As long as I have their service. Well come to find out when the installation guy shows up. That's not true. He explains it's like apple care, u pay a fee for that service. Or u pay for them to come out. And the cameras u just bought do not have a warranty unless u buy that care. Well we were lied to. That's the first ding. Second one was. Salesman said it's a soft credit check. Ok he should explain if u sign up it will turn into hard credit check. Ok that's lie number 2.. So then less then 12 hours of the new system the back camera starts acting up. Saying someone is lurking in our backyard. So we call and they say they have to reboot the camera. Are u serious it's brand new less then 12 hours. So we tell the guy are u going stay on the phone to see if that worked. HE SAYS NO. but puts us on hold. We get disconnected. I'm starting to call back. And he calls me back. My husband is upset by this time and I tell him I want to cancel. He then try to tell me things and I tell him no I want to cancel. Bad service. And then he hangs up on me. Left the old plug hanging out the socket; left the old system door/window sensors on, and had the nerve to use my kids toy box as a damn ladder. The fire department has been to my house 4 times for fault smoke detectors randomly going off while we were not home. 4 technicians have all said they can't see anything wrong. I wish I could give negative 5 stars for this company. Not only has my equipment never worked, even after having multiple technicians come out. But they WILL NOT allow you to cancel your services. We moved in OCTOBER 2022, so we are not even in the same state as the equipment that we paid an embarrassing amount of money for! We have been calling and talking to multiple representatives, who hang up on us just before they can complete the cancelation each time. They send back generic response emails and will not address our issues and just keep charging me $60 a month. Just get a ring. After 4 years of dealing with nothing but problems and failures of equipment, a tech that mounted the camera where I wanted it(22 feet high) and Vivint telling me they can't fix the camera as company states that their techs can go higher than 11 feet, I am now left paying for a camera that didn't work. The installation of the Vivint system yesterday was appalling. Our home was damaged on the inside and out. The technician left trash, wires, magnets throughout our house inside and out. We have 2 young toddlers in the home. The wires and magnet left behind are not only unprofessional but extremely dangerous for young children. He left screws all over the garage floor and driveway. The technician had the audacity to put his tools on the hood of my brand new SUV. He made additional unnecessary holes in the outside and inside of our house while installing the camera and display. Our doorbell no longer rings on the inside. The technician broke our google doorbell while uninstalling it. The backyard cameras are working intermittently. The wires are exposed and poorly run. I could go on but I will stop by summarizing - Vivint charges an outrageous price and unfortunately does not provide a level of service to back it up. One star is being generous. Constantly crashes, freezes, long connecting times when I receive an alert. I have the Vivint cameras doorbell and thermostat. In the app it will freeze if I switch between the thermostat and the cameras. Poor quality on the video feed once it finally connects. It's not my internet as I have ran speed tests and my mesh covers my entire property (3) acres. This app is mostly unusable, and I cannot cancel without paying huge fees. I am being held hostage by this company. Don't get Vivint. Poor customer service. They say you can try the system out for 3 days: day 1 - installation problems day 2 - arguing with the "Loyalty Department" day 3 - email and registered mail to cancel contract day 4 - too late, you're stuck The sales manager brought a trainee to my house to explain all the features of the Vivint alarm system. The manager said "We have the best-selling alarm system in the USA. Our cameras have the highest definition on the market, and it can recognize a person rather than other movement. That way it doesn't give you a notification every time the wind blows." The "1 hour install" took 8 hours. The cameras motion detection and "deter whistle" sound did not work, and the "highest definition cameras on the market" gave me a frozen pixelated image. Should be zero stars. Cameras have had issues since installation. Took several visits to fix one of the four cameras one of the cameras over the others that had and have issues of their own. Connection issues to see motion detections, I feel like I would have already been robbed by the time the camera image pops up in the app. The app as well sometimes will say no "something?" Panel but closing and opening the app eventually starts working. They would come out and try to fix their equipment at no charge since we pay for their monthly service fee but the last visit we had for a techncian to come out that was really nice and helpful fixed our issue and gave us his direct information to contact him directly. Vivant took it upon themselves to charge us from our auto pay a service fee that we have never been charged for the past few years to come out and fix their equipment that has always had issues. After calling customer service twice and been told since the techncian or anyone has ever said we would be charged they would credit us back our money they decided to take for themselves. A few months later we still hadn't received our money back and after a third call they said they will not refund us due to it being a legitimate service call! I have never experienced a company charging an account on their own and never explaining that there would be a charge for the visit and never having anything signed in acknowledgment that there is a charge etc. Seems that this should be illegal. If your thinking of getting Vivant, please listen to all the reviews and run in the opposite direction. The cameras are choppy at best and when people move in from t of them the pictures are very glitchy. Our ring cameras come through clear, do not glitch, and app works extremely smooth without any unnecessary fees. So irritated and upset with Vivant. Feel bad for actually referring them to people we know that have also signed with them. Oh and to top it off, our garage had opened and would not respond to close from the app without anyone home. Had to cancel plans and return home to close our garage door. Technical support said they could not assist us over the phone due to the garage door portion of the equipment is from a third party!!! WTDUCK! We still purchased from you not the third party!!! Sorry this review is kinda all over the place but sooo upset and frustrated with Vivant. After horrific service with ADT, someone told me about Vivint. First time in my life I didn't look at the reviews..BAD MISTAKE. Person came out and started explaining the tools needed for our specific home security system. Agreed and the person put a contract together of the price of the tools, which came to over $3,700+, had us sign via a cell phone and the next thing we know he starts going out to his truck, getting all the boxes of the tools and starts installing. It surprised us, but figured oh well, that must be how the service is done. 9 HOURS LATER he says he is completed, and the wall mount main control panel cannot be wired where the ADT panel was so it will be in the kitchen and he will ship us a stand. What??? And just noticed he had been eating all of our Halloween candy till the bowl was empty with wrappers!?? The next day we call to advise we were not happy with where the Main Control was installed. They sent out another guy and another few hours and we had a system with the main panel was before. The next day we get a copy of the contract and the Fortiva financing documents. They mistakenly put my name first and my husband's as co-signer. Didn't think much about it until later that day when I looked at my Experian.com account. WHAT???? My score had tanked from good to poor, showing I had increased my expenses to income to 58%!!! I called immediately and - to make a 2 week story short to now, EVERY PERSON, AS I ESCALATED THE SITUATION SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE WAS FOR US TO FIRST PAY OFF THE $3,700+ Fortiva account!!!!! Couldn't even get anyone who speaks clear English on the phone and when I asked for a manager when I was trying to cancel my service after I moved they told me a manager can't help me. WHATTT, since when can't a manager help me or at least get on the phone and tell me themselves. They would say ok a manager will call you back when they get back in, then never get a call back Smh. Also when I moved and into a new apartment which was literally right around the corner, they wanted to charge me more than a whole year of service to just move my doorbell camera around the corner. Then they make you write a letter as to why you want to cancel (even AFTER my contract was over) and then take two months to cancel your contract and charge you for those extra months. Terrible company! They constantly overfilled me and than said that I had no credit on file and had not paid my bill. Threaten to turn off service even though I supplied proof of payment from bank. They literally took the monthly payment and called me to said I needed to pay again because they didn't receive it. Horrible customer service. We got a quote for Installing cameras and an alarm system. And we have email confirmation. We received our first bill and there are other charges added in that wasn't discussed in the initial quote. And 1 of the cameras we had installed do t even work. Every time we try and call to talk to a manager about it they are always busy. They are stealing money from us and if you have Vivint I would suggest you check your statement because they could be doing it to you too. Hopefully enough people have the same problem and can file for a class action lawsuit on them. After reading all the horrible reviews I might as well contact the better business bureau. read more
