Vivint sales assured us a Vivint security system was the best smart home security on the market and would be compatible with google smart home and home hubs for viewing and controlling our system and cameras. The sales team even sent a link to a video through the Vivint website and page which shows Vivint cameras and security being viewed and controlled from a google home hub and how to link vivint to your google home hub. Based on this information directly from Vivint and our desire to have a full integrated smart home professionally installed and monitored we selected Vivint for home security. However, what we have is our home butchered by faux hard wiring with massive boxes covering outlets, holes drilled from the inside of the house through bricks for exterior cameras, some random holes drilled in wood baseboards they did not end up utilizing and just left, cut and damage to dry wall with exposed dry wall mesh...cameras not working 12 hours later... Vivint's definition of a professional install and superior tech would be laughable if I were not out thousands. We made several attempts to follow the vivint instructional video to connect google home to Vivint with no success then we spent several hours which melted in to several days of of back and fourth with Vivint "customer service" ( lol customer service ) as each agent pushed us on to a different person with the promise of "I'll get so and so to call you back to help with that specific issue" or insisted we send an email and wait for a response. Finally, after kissing the vivint "customer service ring, sending all the emails and photos, submitting to all the requested chats, and every penance we were worthy of a response from a vivint tech! However, that long awaited response made our stomachs drop as the vivint tech admitted Vivint sales flat out lied to sell the system. Vivant will NOT integrate with any smart home including our google smart home or the hubs we have in every room of our house. If you want to see your cameras when one is triggered by a person or in our case magic, you must get off your smart phone which you may actually use on occasion to talk on, and pull up the Vivint app. The other option to view a triggered camera is to run across your house, down stairs, etc. to your vivint control panel select 3 options and then you will be able to view a specific camera. If you want to communicate with a delivery person? Well, they better be very patient because who wants to wait for you tell grandma you will call her back so you can get in your Vivint app or run across your house, trip over your dog, down your stairs to your vivint control panel and hit 3 options before you catch your breath to say "hey what's up?!" So, Ok, let's assume you missed everything in real time on your security camera when it alerted you ( because ya did) thank you vivint, you can at least go back and look at that person or fairy that triggered your camera in the events option? Lol.
Nope. That's not actually a thing either. You may go in to the app, view a circle of death while your selected event never opens, watch your your app force close. If you think you hear someone outside, look out a window, vivint cameras / security are useless.
As if the butchered house , lies, and stress were not enough, we believed vivint when they told us a specific tech would get with us and our concerns would all be fixed. The reality is vivint needed to keep us on the hook just past the 3 day cancel policy. Yep, vivint came clean on day 4 and admitted they are not a smart home or smart security compatible system. It took a super special tech to tell us that vivint sales just lies to get you on the hook, the vivint tech team knows the entire time it does not work with smart homes. Therefore, as it is day 4 we can not cancel our 6k contract. Vivant is anything but honest and reputable, the equipment is straight out of 1990 the cameras are not dependable and alert when nothing is there and just go off over and over and over until you give up and turn them off or they just stop working. The trouble shooting does not work and the "customer service" ... right, nope I can't with that one. Vivint is NOT a smart home security system nor are they smart home compatible., I am disgusted that we were taken by this dishonest company and have to eat this loss.
Pros: when you open your front door a nice lady says "front door." If you think that is worth 6k Vivint home security may be right for you. read more
