3 teenage girls = lots of dances & hair styles. We love Taylor (to be fair, we were booked with her a couple years ago and now request her so we never tried anyone else.) Taylor has done different styles for all occasions. My girls bring in a picture of an idea they like and Taylor perfects it for each person. I have attached pictures from different dances over the years. The salon is really cute, warm and comforting. I've seen whole wedding parties getting ready with glasses of champagne, teenagers with their friends getting ready for proms and girlfriends spending a day out getting pampered. The owner and her team are all very nice. Every customer I've seen appears to be very happy and comfortable. I really like this salon and we love Taylor. 2 thumbs up for Taylor! read more

Review for Taylor: Every time I come into the salon Taylor makes me feel so beautiful, in fact I tell her that every time I see her! There's no way to describe how amazing she actually is and can make you feel. I give her a few ideas in my head and she always comes up with something beyond my expectations! Not to mention is extremely knowledgable. Not only is she awesome at hair, she does phenomenal special occasion make up. I get a huge confidence boost every time I'm stop in. Thanks again Taylor for making me feel great! I also have been using the Kevin Murphy line thanks to Taylor's suggestions of products and they have made a huge difference on my hair. I highly recommend Taylor she is truly a gem!! Found my forever salon! read more

Worst haircut of my life. Would have rather gone to a Supercuts for a short haircut. Done unprofessionally and took 3 hours. I grew my hair out for 3 years and entrusted them to get it right. They cut off my bangs completely without asking and didn't even get the haircut close to what I asked for. I'll never be going to Vivace again. read more

Savannah is my girl! I have been going to the same hair stylist for my entire life and when I relocated to CA, it took a lot to trust someone with my hair. Not only do I have full confidence that I will leave looking and feeling my best, but also that whatever she does to my hair will keep it healthy. I never trusted anyone to dye or highlight my hair before Savannah. Her balayage technique is outstanding and so natural. She listened to all my concerns and hesitations and brought to life the exact look I was hoping for. This past visit she even braided my hair afterward since mine doesn't hold curls. There is always great conversation and I look forward to each of my appointments. Highly recommend. You rock, girl! read more

This is my first ever Yelp review and if not for Taylor, I wouldnt have done this. I dont get blown away easily by something or someone, but today was an exception! I have been with different stylists all over the Bay Area, and its not like they werent great but Taylor here is AH-MA-ZING! I havent met anyone as passionate and as in love with her craft as she is. She not only gave me the best service, but she also gave me very helpful insights about hair a.k.a "hair education". She is very knowledgeable about their products and what will work best for specific types of hair. She helped me decide on what to do with my hair since I came in unprepared, with no picture whatsoever and didnt really have a clue as to what I wanted done. To balayage or not to balayage was the biggest question! LOL! Taylor made sure that I was clear with what/how a balayage would look on my hair and what she recommends (partial highlights) to achieve the sunkissed tone that I wanted to kinda lighten up my face. Throughout the whole process, she made sure that she explained what she was doing and was so sweet about updating me with the cost of the service since she had made some add ons. To me, that was great customer service! One thing that I really liked about Taylor and the salon as a whole was that there was great teamwork among everyone and they were all so nice and friendly. I am Asian, and I've had prior experiences where I felt left out and alienated in a mostly Caucasian setting however, I never felt a tiny bit of exclusion or any of that with Taylor/Salon Vivace. Taylor, you are a gem at Salon Vivace and I am just so glad that I found you! Thank you for making all of us your clients very happy and satisfied. Thank you for giving us the full experience. You are awesome! read more

Aly did my hair and she did an AMAZING job. I'm still in love months later. I need to set up my appointment with her because the one I was had to cancel was because of not being able to get work off. AMAZING experience!! I started going to Salon Vivace almost 3 years ago, have since moved to SF and wouldn't choose anywhere else to get beautified. Everyone is extremely warm and welcoming- the second you walk in the door you feel right at home. All of the staff is extremely talented, knowledgable, and dedicated to educating you about what's best for your hair/skin type. Their products go above and beyond - I started using one their Kevin Murphy shampoos & conditioners and my hair feels 100% healthier in-between visits (not to mention I have saved so much money by not buying low-quality stuff that I used run through so quickly). Macy is absolutely incredible - I always leave feeling beautiful, confident and relaxed. No matter what the service - cut, color, makeup, wax (I've had it all, and have never been disappointed) Macy exceeds expectations and does an amazing job every time. Whatever your needs are, Salon Vivace is THE place to go for unbeatable service, high quality results and just an overall lovely experience with amazing people! read more

There's a lot to say about this place... amazing atmosphere, quality work, and care in the final product. You can tell these stylists care about the color/cut and the customers satisfaction. "Teamwork makes the dream work" should honestly be this company's motto. Until about 2 years ago I had never gotten anything other than a standard cut done to my hair (I'm 27...) I've only let 1 person bleach my hair and that Tiffani at Vivace. She's a newer stylist but everyone in the place helps her out and everyone there seems more than willing to give other stylists tips and tricks to make the cut or color better. I had 3 people weighing in on my hair and although it was AMAZING to begin with, each persons contribution made it even better than I could have imagined. Another thing I loved seeing was stylists complimenting each other through every process. It seems like they all bring each other up. The employees really seem to love and care about each other and I think that can be hard to find. it definitely shows in the quality of their work and the friendliness of the regulars you encounter there. read more

This review is longgggg overdue. I have been going to Alana for a little over a year. She is hands down the best in the bay area. I have tried four to five different salons, different hair stylists, etc., but Alana is the best. She was recommended to me last year when I was getting married. Not only did she make me look absolutely amazing at an event before the day before the wedding as well as the wedding/reception (hair and make-up). The day before the wedding, some of my aunts and cousins decided last minute that they wanted their hair and makeup done on the day of my wedding and she was able to recommend a few people who were willing to work on such short notice. I can go on and on about Alana, but if you go to Salon Vivace, you have to go to her. She is fun, works with you, is patient, and absolutely the best. You won't be disappointed. read more

LOVE everything about my experience here. The salon is so quaint and cute! I found this salon on Yelp and followed up with pictures via Instagram where I loved the work Taylor did. I called and booked an appointment with her knowing I wanted to be blonder but not high maintenance. Easier said than done! I went there today, and told her exactly that. She gave me her recommendations based on the limited info I gave her and I said yes to everything. High lights with toner and a root smudge to extend the time I can go without a touch up (love that she did what's best for me). I asked for a cut and she did a great job with framing my face with long layers. She was so sweet, quick, and effective. Explaining everything I asked about! Best first experience I've ever had at a salon! I've gotten several compliments on both the cut and color since I left. Highly recommend Taylor, her work speaks for itself! read more

I know I am in really good hands & thankful I tried somewhere new. Absolute love Salon Vivace. Taylor did my balayage and killed it! I briefly described what I wanted and taylor delivered. She exceeded my expectations. I came in wanting a blonde balayage, I had a darker color brown before with highlights for facial framing in the front. My old stylist had not been delivering the ombré look that I wanted so I decided to try someplace new. After hearing about Salon Vivace through Taylor (who I went to high school with) I decided to make an appointment. I do not regret it at all! Since coming to this salon I have learned so many new things about hair care. Their Kevin Murphy products are beyond amazing. they aren't just selling the product to you, it actually works wonders! Love, love, love this place! I'm glad I stumbled upon this place! I heard about this salon from a friend and I've never had a salon experience quite like what's offered here. It's in a cute shop in downtown Pleasanton and there is so much beautiful decor and the music played in the salon makes the whole experience that much more relaxing and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and are constantly checking up on you whether you want some water or coffee! I came in for a balyage treatment and what I love about this place is that your stylist will walk you through every step of the way to help you understand what you should expect and how to get where you want to be! I had Celine do my hair and she was AMAZING! She was super friendly, professional, and super personable! She was great with recommending what cut would look good with my color and now I get tons of compliments from my peers and co-workers for what she's done with me! Whoever you decide to book with, I definitely recommend her! I'm definitely looking forward to booking with her more in the future! :) read more

This place is such an adorable salon. Came here about a month ago to get a balayage on my dark hair and Tiffany Dunn did an AMAZING job on the color! She was very meticulous when working with my hair and listened to all my needs. I was a little hesitant to color my hair, but that quickly faded. To this day, I still get compliments on the color and I've recommended this place to everyone! I'm here with my sister and she's just finishing up on her own balayage/highlight experience and I can't wait to see the final results! Kylie was positive, listened to me, gave advice and did a great job highlighting and applying shadow roots (not sure if I said that right ). I will definitely be back. read more

I don't understand why this place is lacking half a star! I'd give it 10 stars if I could! I will never go anywhere else again. The moment I entered the salon, i thought it was going to be magical. From ambience, to decor, and the staff- oh my god. I felt like I was Princess in a fairytale, entering an enchanted land when I left, I was right! A lot of magic happened! I haven't gone To a salon in over 4 years, because it's hard to trust anyone with your hair. I went from long, frizzy and damaged hair, to short, thin and soft hair. I turned into a pixie princess!!! I was a little worried about the thin-ness and odd texture of my hair- but (the best part), after showering and wetting my hair, i did NOT have to do anything to make my hair look amazing. NO ONE in the last 28 years of my life has ever achieved this look on my head. I always had to iron / blow dry or do whatever it takes to tame this crazy lion's mane... BUT the most amazing and sweetest stylist- SAVANNAH came my way and my hair is changed forever!! I don't know how she did it, let's just call it magic. Everyone who's looking for a new look or just hoping to feel fabulous, do yourself a favor and GO TO THIS PLACE. PS- free wine. read more

Blowouts...I'm actually utterly confused and dumbfounded by the service I received given such yelped generous reviews. In disbelief really. I'm new to the area from SF and was looking for a new salon. I was also in need of a blow out 3 times a week as I recently broke my wrist and was hoping my first blow out w Celine would be a good introduction to this salon. The 4 blow dry bars I frequented in SF and Walnut Creek were all priced between 35-55 (including shampoo, conditioner, blow dry and iron or flat iron, just whatever your styling needs were). The price and offering was comparable here but what I received was more akin to me being styled for fun by my 14 yr old cousin while she continued to prompt me to be overly chatty w her. Please focus on my hair is what I was thinking. I ask for the same style generally and show multiple photos. I wanted blowdrying to give me initial volume and medium to large loose waves on my medium length hair. Every other blowout experience I've had involved thorough drying by sectioning the hair and then during any curling ironing the stylist would section my hair, curl, hold for 5 or so seconds and then roll the just curled sections lightly and pin it. She barely sectioned my hair. All she did was get me to socialize and just take hold of chunks of my hair w a round brush to dry. She then took the curling iron to maybe a 1/3 of my hair in random chunks and then said she was done. Like picking apples from a tree. The hair was curled up and just let loose from the barrel, no time at all given for the heat to even permeate. I was in shock as to what was going on. Where was the blow out exactly? I got into my car and did a double take. My hair was curled/styled in random sections while a whole chunk on the left was just barely blow dried. I met up w a friend afterwards who said "weren't you going to get a blow out?" I also opted for a KM treat me for an extra 30 bucks (they discounted me 15 bc I was new) but save your money. After my hair was shampooed and rinsed there was a total of 5 sprays in top of my head and I was told to sit for 15 mins. Why dont they take due care and section off hair to make sure it's evenly distributed? I found the 60 bucks spent to be a waste of money and the service lackadaisical. Also found my neighbors had a similar experience. The good things: - lots of salons around that block. I went to another one the next day to get some style in my hair and they did a fantastic job. You can PM me for details. read more

I was searching for someone to help me find my perfect short style. I tried a few salons in the east bay but no one that really impressed me. Allison is fresh, super cute and trendy, but also very committed to the process. She's patient and asks often for feedback. I like that it's a collaborative effort to find what I want. We worked together to finally discover what I was looking for in a hair style: a (then) daring, slightly asymmetric pixie. She has also restored my childhood natural summer blonde balayage which is very blended and natural. I go back every 5-7 weeks for a snip, and get my color touched up. She's detailed and gives a great scalp massage at the washing station (always a bonus!) Allison works in the evening and Saturdays so it works with my crazy work schedule. The Salon is great about scheduling and never fusses when I have to make last minute changes. Also complimentary coffee, tea or wine when you come in. I have never gotten more compliments on my hair in my life: I've had strangers at a crosswalk tell me they love it (even genuine older males), strangers snap photos for their hair own inspiration, and have had friends be inspired to go short as well! Allison for the win. Check her out! read more

This is an amazing salon! You are treated like royalty when you are there. I have been using Alana for 5 years and she is fantastic! On occasion I have used some of the others and they are also very good. Besides just being excellent, I want to tell you some things that take them over the top as an exceptional salon. All the stylists are constantly learning new techniques and improving their skills. It is a requirement from the owner. They don't just graduate from beauty college and that's the end of it like most others. You get is the latest styles and methods; and believe me, they know some great beauty tricks. One of the most difficult things women have had to deal with during this pandemic is our hair. It's bad enough that I have had to deal with length and my feeble attempts at cutting my bangs, but there are those gray roots! When you are already feeling crummy with everything that is going on, there is nothing worse than big gray roots. My friends try touchup spray and desperation barely-match home color; not so great. But then there is Salon Vivace to the rescue for its clients. Even though they are closed for now, they prepared a root touch up video and the stylists work with all their clients to help us find decent touch up color and apply it ourselves. It's not the whole enchilada that Alana does for me normally, but it makes me feel a little more normal in these difficult times. How many businesses are going so far out of their way to help their clients? I would give Vivace 6 stars if I could! read more

Just had a haircut and a "style" with Jessica. I had a terrible experience. She hit me in the face twice with my wet hair while cutting it. She cut a piece of hair right over my foot and of course it landed on my feet and to top it off my whole back is wet. The style looks awful. I asked for big manageable curls and she curled my hair with a small barrel curling iron. How does that make sense? It turned out frizzy and I can't even run my fingers through it because of the amount of hair spray that she used and the frizz. I told her I was going to a wedding and now I'm thinking about going somewhere else or doing it myself. I was really excited about my appointment but I had a terrible experience and horrible customer service. Not coming back! read more

Went for "special occasion style" on Saturday didn't like the outcome at all. The stylish spent about 40 minutes on my hair and my hair looked like a messy nest in the back. She actually stitched my hair into a loose low bun and she felt she was being creative. My hair is really straight and it's hard to keep it together mostly. And I pointed this out to her multiple times. My hair looked ok when I left and within an hour it started falling apart. My front bangles become straight and messy and my hair got loose from the sides. I ended up looking like a zombie in my baby shower pictures. I am sure this salon is good for cut and color as I see from the reviews but don't go here for updo and styling. You won't feel like you paid for a good hairdo. Your hair will end up looking damp and lifeless. They aren't good at adding volume to your hair. I usually don't give bad reviews but I wish I could post a picture of what the stylish did to my hair lol. I didn't pay 70 dollars for loose front bangs. And that's what happened. read more

A week ago I went to this place for the first time. I desperately needed a haircut at the last minute, and called them based on a yelp review from Laura whom I trust. I chose Marissa (aka Missy), who was the more senior of the two hair stylists available that day. Little did I know how lucky I was in getting her. She was friendly and courteous, and extremely skilled. She started by asking me what I wanted, and what I didn't like about my old hair. Then she gave me a cut that was exactly what I wanted, even though I was using the wrong terms to describe the cut I wanted. I am attaching a picture of my hair after the cry here. I wish I had a picture of my old cut, so you all can see what a difference she made. Basically I had a very flat single-layered hair, and she took it and gave it layers and volume, without any coloring! Best part is, after one week and two washes, my hair is still behaving and looking good. I am very grateful for her, and glad that I have found her. What a gem! I will certainly request for her from now on. read more

I love this salon. Macy, Rachel and Denise are awesome at color and cuts. I love that they are familiar with curly hair and biracial clients. The salon is also super cute and cozy. I am also using their product for thinning hair which is actually working! Post pregnancy hormones made my hair thin around my temple and after using their spray it is noticeably thicker after 2 weeks of using. Macy did my makeup for my wedding and did a beautiful job.
