After a lot of research and looking at instagram pages, I booked a consultation with Danita. I was looking for a color correction but we decided to do a couple conditioning treatments prior to coloring to make sure we would get the results I was looking for. I had an extremely disappointing experience with stylist Ashbie at Theory, and unfortunately, after being a customer there many times, this experience has made me seriously question whether I will ever return. I had a 2:15 PM gloss appointment that I booked weeks in advance. At 1:19 PM, I received a text from Ashbie saying she was running behind and asking to move my appointment to 2:30 PM. I arrived at the salon at 1:57 PM, and she was still working with her previous client. I explained immediately that I had a 5:45 PM flight to catch and an important event planned, and asked whether she would realistically be able to complete my service and get me out in time. She initially said yes, so I waited. After making me wait for nearly 30 minutes, she then told me she could no longer provide the service. This was incredibly frustrating because I had specifically planned my day, travel, and event around an appointment I had booked weeks ahead of time. If she knew she was running so far behind that she couldn't accommodate me, I should have been told that upfront rather than being reassured, kept waiting, and then ultimately turned away. I have visited Theory many times in the past, but this experience left such a bad impression. Poor time management, poor communication, and extremely unprofessional handling of a client's appointment. Salons and stylists should not continue booking appointments they cannot realistically honor. Very disappointed. This experience has honestly made me feel like I probably won't be returning to Theory again. read more

A solid 3 stars for my stylist and haircut experience with Alyssa. She's a sweet girl, but she doesn't have the chops to be a hairstylist yet. Soft wash, meaning there was no real reach to the scalp; on the gentle side, but that's a preference thing. The cut itself had the same tone; it just lacked movement and volume. I came in to add a bit of life to my grown-out length but left feeling flatter than when I came in. Overall, not impressed. And unfortunately, I wouldn't attempt my next cut with her again. She's precise, thoughtful, and truly focused on giving you the cut you need. And best of all--she doesn't push products at all. The salon itself is beautiful, with a cozy seating area, a separate wash station, and two floors of space. They even offer you a drink of your choice. 1 Star - Extremely Disappointing Experience I had my first visit at this salon on a Sunday with Chantelle. I clearly asked for an ash brown balayage, even showed her bunch of pics. Unfortunately, when I left the salon, my hair looked nothing like what I had asked for. Instead, I had obvious highlight streaks throughout my hair along with random, uneven patches of color. I was honestly too shy and uncomfortable to complain while I was there, so I paid the full price for what I was told was a "balayage" and left. A couple of days later, I called the salon and explained the situation. I was asked to come back for a consultation so they could assess my hair and figure out what could be done. During the consultation, the stylist acknowledged that my hair had not been colored correctly and that there were random color patches throughout my hair. Stylist Ashby then recommended that I schedule another appointment with her so she could correct the color and give me the balayage I had originally asked for. I trusted them and came back for a second appointment, hoping the issue would finally be resolved. Unfortunately, this visit was even more upsetting. My hair was bleached twice in an attempt to get it to the right color to create the balayage. After all of that processing, a toner was applied, but once again my hair looked like dark brown hair with warm highlighting streaks throughout it -- still not the ash brown balayage I had requested. At that point, I was genuinely confused and frustrated. I kept wondering how, after explaining exactly what I wanted and returning specifically to have the original service corrected, I was still not getting anything close to a balayage. My hair was then toned one more time to try to correct the unwanted warm tones. After spending more than six hours in the salon, I eventually walked out with an overall dark brown colour. This was absolutely not what I had originally asked for. To make matters worse, after everything my hair had gone through, it was now extremely damaged. My hair is so damaged that I can barely comb through it unless I use a handful of leave-in conditioner. I have never experienced my hair in this condition from a salon service, and it has been incredibly upsetting. The situation became even more disappointing when the stylist couldn't properly dry my hair because she said she was running late for her next job. After spending over six hours there and going through multiple rounds of bleaching and toning, I was left feeling like I was being rushed out. At the front desk, I was then asked to pay again for the second appointment. I refused because I had come back specifically to have the original service corrected and to finally receive the balayage I had already paid for. Instead, I was leaving with one overall dark colour and severely damaged hair. Later, Amy, who I understand is the manager/owner, left me a voicemail saying, "I'm sorry we couldn't get you the color you wanted," and that they would not charge me for the service. While I appreciate that they ultimately decided not to charge me for the second appointment, that does not change the fact that I had already paid for the original balayage, spent more than six hours at the salon trying to correct the situation, went through multiple rounds of bleaching and toning, and am now left with severely damaged hair. I understand that colour correction can be complicated and that sometimes a desired result may not be possible in one session. But if that was the case, I would have expected clear communication about what was realistically achievable and, most importantly, much more care for the condition of my hair. I asked for an ash brown balayage. I did not ask for an overall dark brown colour, and I certainly did not expect to leave with hair so damaged that I can barely comb through it. This was my first experience with this salon, and unfortunately it has been extremely upsetting and disappointing. I gave them an opportunity to correct the initial mistake because I wanted to trust that they would make things right. Instead, I left after two visits with a colour I never asked for and hair that is now in very poor condition. I sincerely wish this experience had been different. but with a fair warning please watch out if you're trying to get a balayage at this salon-! read more

I told her from the beginning that I don't want short hair but in times of stress will probably ask her to chop off all my hair (so thankful she knows I'd hate that). I had my hair done with Sarah Cavendar and showed her pictures of what I normally get and even my colors. I am new to the area. She did nothing like I showed her.
