Go in and see Jaayann you won't be disappointed she has been taking care of me for years.

I am very particular about where I get my hair done so after my longtime salon retired it was stressful thinking about the next place to go!! I have thin frizzy n frazzled hair, blonde, so its hard to cut and style in a flattering way that doesnt look flat. But oh no, here the lady (forgot her name) did a fine job in adding layers for volume n cut to just the right length, topped off with beautiful styling. She gave good styling tips for home too and everyone was just super nice..!! ill be back in a few months dhe to the excellent services really thank you for a great first visit read more

Good service - clean and classy. Have been using Armen for years. Kerastase products which are really good but very expensive

I think I have found my dream salon. Tucked away among a row of tiny shops on Main St., Pleasanton is Gamma salon. Came here on a whim because I couldn't take it anymore on this hot June day. Ever had one of those days when you look in the mirror and then had a crazy thought in your head where you whipped out an electric razor and went full Britney? No? It's just me? Well okay then. The bf was getting his hair cut and I thought I'd call and see if they'd squeeze me in the last minute. I fully expected them to say no and I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call back saying that I could go in about half an hour. Ecstatic, I rushed to Pleasanton from San Ramon, and got there and I totally overlooked the parking lot that was located conveniently right behind the salon. As I walked in, I was greeted by Armen, who was courteous, polite and was patient and listened to what I requested. I showed him a photo that I found online that had shoulder length hair with lots of layers. He nodded his head and took me straight to the washing station and my hair was washed in record time. Very thorough and professional. He took me back to his salon chair and he started combing and cutting. He and I had some great conversations about his decades of experience in San Francisco where he worked at a high end salon right next to Union Square. He used to own another salon in another area of Pleasanton and he decided to just focus on opening a new, swanky, boutique in downtown Pleasanton and cater to the local crowd. The whole appointment took a little over an hour and I was thrilled at my new layers! The prices are extremely reasonable and I strongly urge you all to give this place a go! I'm glad that I walked in today and I have found my salon for life. Thank you, Armen! I will be back for a blowout soon! read more

Had a last minute color refresh with Arman, base and toner! He did a great job finding exactly the color I wanted. He was vey accommodating seeing me immediately as i walked in. I got lucky he had a cancelation. The place is VERY clean, he served tea and dark chocolate! read more

Arman did my daughter's highlights and my haircut and we were both very happy with the results. A little pricey but you definitely get your money's worth. Very professional, salon was very clean. Will be back!!! read more

Armen is an amazing hair stylist. He is very professional and performed base color and highlights on my old hair do that needed some major touch up and shaping . On the top of the hair color, he accommodated my busy schedule and took me on Saturday evening. I am very happy with the outcome and i am recommending him and the salon to anyone read more

Worst haircut I have ever gotten! I showed him 3 pictures of exactly what I wanted. He reassured me he could do it and then when it was all said and done I had no hair left. He cut way more off then I said and gave me so many layers. It is by far the worst haircut I have ever gotten. I won't even wear my hair down ThAts how bad it is. My hair was so healthy and thick and long and he got way to scissor happy and chopped it all off. It took me 3 years to get my hair healthy and long again and now I'm back to square one. On top of that he overcharged me. I got in my car and just cried about how much I hate it. I Will never in a million years go back. read more

Armen is the best! I followed him from a previous location in the Mall. He is very professional and explains what he is doing especially when I may want changes! The salon is very clean, neat and well designed. It does not feel crowded even with other patrons. Yes, he's a bit expensive but I've been satisfied with his suggestions and the outcome for years. And - there is the added bonus of water, tea, wine (sometimes) and especially chocolate!! read more

Had an amazing haircut today, just what I wanted. Super clean salon and great service.

Armen did an outstanding job on my hair! I asked him for long layers and he knew exactly what I wanted. He knows what he is doing and gave me a very clean, elegant, symmetrical cut. He also did a really nice job of blow drying my hair at the end. If I could give more starts I would! read more

Gamma Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Pleasanton, California

I am very impressed by the consistent high quality services at Gamma Salons owner Armen. Ever since my first visit more than a year ago I have been going to Gamma salon and I look forward each time to the experience, the serene setting and the super hair styling. Thank you Armen! read more

I came here with a Groupon which included shampoo, deep conditioning treatment, cut and style/blow dry and a $20 gift card for future services. Let's just say, I was less than impressed. I HATE spending $65 for a hair cut and I am new to the East Bay, so those are the reasons why I got the Groupon. My hair style is pretty straightforward (long, straight, no layers), so it's hard to screw it up. But I do get very excited to have a professional blow out my hair because it always looks so thick and shiny when they do it. She (can't remember her name now) did not do a good job at all. It looks better when I do it myself! Also, the deep conditioning treatment came in this tiny little bottle that she pumped into her hands and rubbed in my hair. It looked runny...like a shine mist or something. She said my hair would be soft but it didn't moisturize my hair at all. It felt the same as when I walked in. The salon is beautiful and in a nice location. But I will probably never go back because even at the discounted rate, I still think it was sort of a rip off. I am still on the hunt for a decent, inexpensive salon. read more

Getting an appointment was so easy. Got a call from Armen letting me know the availability which I wasn't able to make that day because I had to work. He let me know that there was an opening on Saturday so I took it. He was very friendly on the phone and I got a call back very quick! Monica cut my hair today, she is very nice and friendly. Did exactly what I wanted with my hair and I love it! :) She kept my length about the same so that way I could straighten and curl. Also, the salon looks great and very clean! I will be coming back :) read more

Bought the Groupon for a haircut only. The truth is I was a little nervous about getting a discount haircut. But actually, it was great. Armen, the owner, was friendly; he even gave me a little scalp massage after washing my hair. I left the salon feeling like a boss. I'm happy with my haircut and I would recommend this salon. read more

I saw a great deal on Livingsocials.com for a haircut, style and kerastase treatment and decided to come here. It was a great experience since I came on a Sunday and it was empty. I was told that Sundays are the least busy days. Armen was very welcoming and knowledgable and did a great job on my hair. He layered it exactly how I imagined it to be without me even telling him and did a great job on styling. I wish I could blow dry my own hair that way! Which makes me want to go back just to have him do it. The treatment also made my hair very soft and silky. This time it was included but very affordable to do it every time since it costs $25. The salon is very clean and neat. Very modern and classy looking with dark furniture which I like. They even offer you a smock to wear. Take advantage of all the deals and he will give you that $20 off on top of the other deals as well. read more

Armen is my uncle and so my review may seem biased, but at the same time I dont trust anyone with my hair except for him. Not only is he a master and artist in his profession, but he is courteous, amiable, attentive, stylish, has a fantastic sense of humor, and is just a magnificent human being. He has been styling hair ever since I can remember and is absolutely amazing at it. A couple of times I had my hair styled by other people, and each time I regretted it. The only person whom I trust with my thick, unruly, Armenian hair is my uncle. I am so proud of him, and he has come a long way in his profession. His new salon is so sleek and stylish, it puts a huge smile on my face just walking in. I feel like I just walked into a fashion runway show. There is plenty of parking and a wonderful lounge and waiting area with a choice of delicious and soothing tea and sweet treats. When you come here you get treated as if you were visiting family. I feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful uncle and hair stylist in my family! You will not be disappointed, so take the time to treat yourself to a haircut and treatment. You will leave with a huge smile on your face, no doubt! read more

Went there for the first time on Saturday after a long and tiring day in Traffic School. I've been told that stylist Milada can do magic on your hair. So i went :) And oh boy, did she made me happy!!! I was so sick of wearing my hair in a boring "pony tail" , and i needed hip and cute, fresh and new me! MIlada worked magic on my hair! What a great experience. The salon it self - its like a visiting spa. SO relaxed, so comfy, very clean. They had music playing there - something very nice , not annoying "main stream" for once! I will be definitely coming back to this place!!! read more

This is a very chic, very trendy salon in downtown Pleasanton. I went to see Armen to have the Keratin Smoothing Treatment done for the first time. He promised he would get a good result with my hair and he definitely delivered. I had the smoothing treatment done about 6 weeks ago and I am still loving it and very pleased! The salon is very clean and comfortable. The whole process took about 3.5 hours, but the chairs he has in his salon are so comfortable it didn't bother me to sit for so long. Armen is very professional and knowledgable. He gave me a fair price to do my hair which is very long and thick. He also didn't try to push other services or products on me which I appreciate. In fact he gave me a complimentary shampoo & conditioner! Extra points for customer service! The other stylists are very friendly. I chatted with them while I was having my hair done which helped the time pass. My hair has never looked better or felt healthier! read more

I am EXTREMELY picky about my hair. My go-to salon for many years now was Stilo salon in San Mateo, but after moving to this side of the bay I found myself wanting to find a place closer to home. My search originally started by trying to find a reasonably priced salon for bridal party hair. There were so many people that wanted to rip me off with 100+ prices for a simple hairstyle! The owner, Armen, was extremely welcoming. We spoke for a while about what I wanted for both me and my maids and booked the date. Because of the large size of my party, he was willing to have us in there alone and sort of give us a private relaxing spa-like environment where my photographer could even come in and take pictures of us getting ready. I feel very confident about getting my wedding hair done here in May! I decided to come in and get my actual hair cut beforehand and I am very pleased. He went through and re-layered my hair, not trying to use a razor or anything else that would damage my hair. He listened to what I wanted and did a great job, including a blow-out that lasted for 3 days ( I have REALLY thick hair that takes a good 25-30 min to dry... so he put in a lot of time). I salon is extremely clean and well maintained and I will be using this place from now on! Total salon trip cost: 70-100 (dependingon how you tip) Not the cheapest I have been to, but definitely not the most expensive I have been to... I've learned its worth the extra money to get a haircut that you are satisfied with. Update: Here is a link to a short video from my wedding in case you want to see the salon or our hair for the wedding! http://vimeo.com/24524940 Armin is still my only hairstylist! read more

Milada - You have some serious talent when it comes to styling hair. I am currently hanging out with one of your customers that came to visit me in Phoenix, AZ, and her hair is absolutely fantastic. I want to personally thank you for totally hooking up the fantastic hair cut/color on my friend. She is getting looks everywhere we go and I feel like I am hanging out with a movie star now!! So I saw the same deal that I believe Betty H. saw... and since it had a bunch of great reviews, i thought why not!? ok, It took me forever to actually get an appointment, i love to procrastinate... but finally went this sunday... Armen greeted me at the front. Brilliant. I went on a Sunday, one of this last appointments, so the place was peaceful. and the ac was blasting, which was good, cause it was hot outside! The Salon was so clean, i didnt even see any hair or anything on the floor. it was brightly lit. very upscale with the comfy chairs! ok so onto the hair... so the usual, hair wash, cut then style. the wash even came with a mini scalp massage! whoo!!! and then cut, Armen listened very carefully to what i wanted, and after snipping away quickly, but obviously precisely... my hair came out to pretty much what i wanted. Not too much shorter than what i have now, more volume, layers. the only thing i wished for was my bangs to be a little more dramatic, ill make sure to tell him next time. and then he styled it quickly, making my hair feel soft and lucious! oh man! i couldnt stop touching my hair. lol. all in all, he did a great job! I will be back!! =] about... 3 months from now.. or well ill try, u know i lag. lol! woot!!!! Thanks Armen! read more

Gamma salon is state of the art. It is very trendy and done with immaculate taste. The owner and stylist Armen is great. He does magic with hair - cuts, color, highlights, treatments....He also carries wonderful hair products from Kerastase, which has definitely done magic with my hair. Try this salon at least once and you will not want to go anywhere else. I drive all the way from Peninsula to get my hair done there. read more

Since finding Marina, I have no reason to look any further. She is the best stylist I've ever had. She listens to what I would like, and then gives her suggestions in addition, which I always go for. I've never had someone so skilled with color as she is and I always leave feeling like a million bucks. She was able to color correct my hair from the last stylist I had seen. I get compliments on my hair everywhere I go which obviously makes me feel great too :) I feel completely at ease when she's doing my hair. I never feel like she's rushing to finish or see the next client. She makes me feel very special. I've also seen the updo's she's won competitions with, and when I get married, she'll be the one doing my hair. If you want amazing hair that gets you compliments everywhere you go, Marina is your girl! read more

Been to Gamma three times for a haircut. The place is spotless and very relaxing. First thing you notice is how all the hair supplies are in order and things like hair dryers are tucked away and only brought out when needed. Armen has cut my hair on all my visits. He does a great job, takes his time and is very friendly. I went in with a bad haircut I had gotten at a cheaper salon and he was able to fix it with a great cut. I highly recommend Gamma Salon. read more

I have been a client of Armen's for almost 20 years and I refuse to get my hair cut from anyone else. When I was younger, my mom took me to so many different salons and stylists, but they all made me look like a doll with overly curly bangs and I wasn't having any of it. Thank goodness we found Armen and he was the first to cut my hair the way I envisioned it looking. He always accommodates my last-minute requests for appointments, which I greatly appreciate, and he takes the time to listen to how I want my hair cut. Armen does a wonderful job, he's personable, yet professional. I recommend him and I have recommended him to my family and friends. read more

Simply HAIR-TASTIC! Just wanted to send a quick hello and thank you to Armen and his wonderful staff. Nothing feels better (and especially during the holidays) feeling and looking fabulous! Another great cut/color. Armen is truly an amazing stylist and visionary. I have very fine curly hair and not many stylist can work with that. I always end up with amazing soft curls, lots of body and the color is so rich, warn and chocolaty...yumm. I am ready for the holidays! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. read more

Finally! A great hair cut! I've had trouble finding someone who can cut my hair well and Armen gave me the best hair cut I've ever had. He listened to what I wanted and delivered perfectly. read more

The haircuts performed by an un-named person is only capable of performing one style. After being shown a picture of the correct style he performed the same haircut he gave the previous client. The only reason I'm leaving 2 stars is because he did cut the hair, just not the way he was asked. Otherwise it would require a lower review. read more

I went here because of the Groupon Deal for a cut and Keratin Treatment, then went once more to use my $20 off card they gave me. The first time I got my hair done by a woman with a name that starts with an M (I cannot remember her full name) - I actually really liked her as a person and had great conversation with her. The massage she gave my head after putting in conditioner was way too hard and a little painful, though. She did a good job of cutting it the way I wanted. All in all - she was good. The second time I got my hair done by a man. When I showed up they left me to awkwardly sit on the bench because no one greeted me or tried to talk to me. Eventually he walked over - about 10 minutes after my appointment should have started and got my name wrong (somehow meshing my first and last name together into one first name). He cut my bangs way too long and as soon as I left the store they were blowing in my eyes and driving me crazy. I wore them pinned back for almost 3 months until I got up the courage to cut them myself (which worked really well actually). I don't think I would go back and pay full price. The location was conveniently on Main Street, though. read more

I purchased a groupon and decided to give this place a try. I called today and they took me in, that was a plus because my afternoon had just become available. I can not remember my stylist name because I am so forgetful, but I think it was Monica, she was so nice, she took the time to look at my hair and do a thorough consultation. She then washed my hair and applied the Keratin treatment...my hair feels great, she cut my hair and styled it! I luv the way my hair looks and feels, and on top of that i recieved a $20 gift card! i will def be back! read more

Yes - this place is 5 STAR. The ambiance, location, products, and stylists welcome you to an incredible experience. My stylist is Milada and she has proven to be very patient, determined and dedicated to achieve my possibly unrealistic hair requests. I have high maintenance hair and Milada goes above and beyond to make sure the outcome exceeds my expectations. She is a pleasure to work with and I feel very thankful to be her client. If you are looking for the absolute best, call Gamma. P.S. I brought my 3 year old son in for a haircut and she did a fabulous job and he continues to get compliments on such a beautiful hair cut (especially for a 3 year old boy!) read more

I loved this salon! Both my dad and I used to go here for our regular hair cuts and my occasional stylings and Milada was always so punctual and accommodating. She always gave us what we wanted and she's one of the few stylists I've had who can successfully straighten my hair and make it look really nice when most struggle with that haha Because my hair requires so much maintenance the appointments were adding up. That's the only reason I don't go there anymore. I definitely recommend this salon!! read more

I've been coming to Armen for years. I have the horrible habit of waiting last minute for an appointment and will walk into other salons for a quick trim and have always regretted it. Armen is up to date on latest trends and techniques. His cuts are always consistent and recently he colored my hair. One word, "Amazing!" His layers are superb and using the best products and technique for coloring, Armen is simply the best! I'm extremely picky about my layers so my test is how the hair grows out...ladies and gentlemen, be prepared for awesomeness. If there were six stars, seven stars, ten stars... A million, this is how I'd rate Gamma and Armen. I've read other reviews and will say this. If you know what you want, say it and if you aren't certain, say so. He'd rather his client be happy then walk away dissatisfied. Stylists are not mind readers. If I want a new look, I bring him examples and I tell him exactly what I want. He aims to please and this is what I love about him. He takes the time and will never double book or even step away to answer the phone because he devotes his attention to his client. read more

So thankful for Ashley! My hair has never looked better! Can't wait for my keratin treatment for only $250! Yummy wine too. I feel so spoiled! read more

Owner is a wonderful and nice man! He is very polite and even though her underestimated my hair's curliness, he did not charge me more than what he had told me initially. If you have curly hair, this is not your salon! He cut my hair badly, he was supposed to flat iron my hair, by the time I walked out into the street, my hair was frizzy and looked worse than homemade! As for my daughter, he cut her hair just as badly! And when I asked for bangs (a lesson I was teaching her, because curly haired people should never have bangs), they were not even even and there was no line to show the beginning or end of the bangs. I debated writing this review, because the owner was such a nice guy. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience here last week. I just moved to Livermore from Seattle and was dreading finding a new salon since I had been going to a fabulous, high end place back home for many years. My former stylist had recommended searching the area for Kerastase salons since these places need to be specially trained and are generally great places to go. So when Gamma Salon came up on Groupon and it was a Kerastase salon with perfect Yelp ratings, I figured it was a sure thing. The stylist I saw was Monica and while she was nice, it was arguably the worst haircut of my adult life. I am a very low maintenance mom of two young kids and I told her that I didn't have a specific style in mind but I just needed it to be very simple so that I could wash and go without any styling needed. I told her specifically that I didn't feel comfortable going short since my hair is wavy and it makes it too difficult to straighten when it tweaks out. She then proceeded to make her first cut across the back at about midway down the back of my head. She cut it very short in the back and then left it almost to my shoulders in the front. When I questioned how drastic it was from the back to the front, her response was, "Did you not want it so severe?" Just to be clear, there is nothing "severe" about my appearance or my description of what I was looking for in a cut. So after an hour of using texturizing scissors and almost 2 hours after my appointment start time, I was just done. Not only was the cut nothing like what I had asked for and we had discussed, but it is completely uneven and the lines are not "clean" at all. I literally had chunks that hung out of place along the sides. Unfortunately, because it is so short it will be difficult for me to get it fixed for some time. I am so painfully disappointed. I could better handle the fact that she cut it so much shorter than we had discussed if it was a good cut - but it isn't. Please do not be misled by all of the other positive comments or tempted by the great daily deal offers - it is simply not worth the low price or the many months that it will take to grow out the bad haircut. read more

Armen has been doing my hair for 6 years. I moved from Pleasanton to Walnut Creek, but still drive back to get my haircuts.
