For background: my mom lost her hair during cancer treatment seven months ago. It's been growing back and is currently short and uneven. We booked this appointment to have it cleaned up and shaped. Our appointment was at 2:00 PM. We arrived on time. Stephanie was still with her previous client and told us she was "almost done." My mom wasn't seated until 2:50 PM, and Stephanie didn't start on her hair until 3:15 PM. We were at the salon for 3.5 hours, over an hour of it spent waiting -- with no apology or communication, just repeated "five more minutes" while she kept working on the other client and ignored us completely. The bigger issue was the attitude once she did start. We knew our inspiration photos might not be fully achievable, and we said so -- we just wanted professional guidance on what could work. Instead, Stephanie focused almost entirely on what couldn't be done, to the point where it felt like nothing could be done. It was discouraging and honestly depressing. A stylist's job isn't just to list limitations -- it's to help clients find the best option for the hair they have. My mom also asked if she could color her hair, time permitting. Stephanie said no immediately, citing other clients and the fact that only a haircut was booked -- despite the appointment already running over an hour late because of her. Ironically, since she ended up only trimming my mom's hair, she did have time to color it after all. At the end, Stephanie apologized for running late and for her attitude. I appreciate that, but it doesn't change the experience. To be clear: the issue was never that certain styles weren't possible. We understood that going in. The issue was the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer service. I hope this pushes the salon to be more respectful of clients' time and more supportive in these moments. Despite this atrocious experience, I'm giving Stephanie 2 stars because the outcome of the trim and color was satisfactory.
