First of I want to give a huge shout out to the nine two five salon team both in Hayward and Pleasanton. I found out my goddaughter's hair was severely matted and started calling around. My boyfriend's childhood friend who also happens to be a hairstylist in the San Ramon area told me to call nine two five salon. I called the Hayward location right away since I'm very familiar with them and have gone to them in numerous different occasions. I called and spoke with Rebecca from the Hayward location and asked if anyone can detangle hair in either of their location. She got back to me in less than 15 minutes and was able to find Madison for me from their Pleasanton location. I booked right away for a Thursday morning appointment and the rest was history. We showed up Thursday morning and Madison did her thing. One of my biggest appreciation for Madison is her compassion for my goddaughter. She saw the stress in her eyes and really wanted to help her preserve her hair. Madison communicated with both me and my goddaughter about the what-ifs and how she was gonna proceed in case she couldn't save her hair but she made sure that every step was explained. Madison was very patient and made sure she didn't stay in one area of her head because her head was going to be tender. Madison brushed out my goddaughters for as long as she could. Honestly, I think the whole process took anywhere from 10-13 hours give or take split between two days. Madison had to move her schedules around just to accommodate my goddaughter. The end result was amazing. My goddaughter was extremely happy and excited with her new hair. She showed it off to me and sent me a bunch of pictures overall being happy and thankful that I found Madison. So if you're looking for someone to do detangling on your hair or really anyones hair, Madison is your go to person. Her rate wasn't bad at all either. All in all, shout out to Madison, thank you for the patience and compassion you've put in on taking care of my goddaughter. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience. I met with stylist Lily Costa. I paid over $700 for tape in hair extensions and $350 plus 20% tip for installation of the tape in hair extensions. Within days, multiple extensions began falling out and some extensions were already twisting. I immediately contacted the stylist, documented the issues with photos, and returned for a correction appointment. Despite the repair, additional extensions continued to fall out shortly afterward. Throughout the process, I made efforts to resolve the matter directly and professionally. Rather than acknowledging the possibility of an installation issue, responsibility was repeatedly shifted to potential hair-loss concerns. However, the extensions that fell out still had significant hair amounts of my natural hair attached, and a second stylist who evaluated the installation raised concerns about the amount and placement of hair within some of the extension sandwiches. What I found most disappointing was not just the installation itself, but the lack of accountability when the problem persisted after corrective work was performed. I spent additional time, money, and effort trying to have the issue addressed, yet I was repeatedly asked to return for further evaluations after already making a trip for corrective work. After extensive discussions and continued documentation of the problem, the stylist stated I was threatening her by saying I was going to leave a review of her work. She mentioned that she would offer me a partial refund of $100 to resolve this matter but I am not to leave a review of threaten her. Apparently telling her that her work was not adequate is considered threatening. After telling the stylist that $100 was unacceptable she eventually refunded $150, but does not change the fact that the extensions failed almost immediately after installation. My expectation when paying for a professional extension installation is that the extensions remain secure for more than a few days and that legitimate concerns are addressed without the customer having to repeatedly advocate for themselves. read more

I first went to the Hayward location and had called before going in to request someone who was experienced with curly hair.. when I came in the girl who I was scheduled with had the worst vibe for it being my first time, I kept asking questions and she was very short, didn't explain thorough and easily distracted.. as she was "diffusing" my hair she would look away like not paying attention to what she was doing. The next time I went to Pleasanton and I again called and told them of my bad experience and what service I was interested in so I can get taken care of.. I went in for extensions consult, it was my first time, I told the girl my goals and she did not explain and or teach me the difference of extension types and curl types and didn't give me recommendation options.. I went in once my extensions arrived and all she did was place weft extensions on me, washed them and then let me leave with WET unstyled hair.. and I was clearly missing extensions as well, on my front hair and neck area you could see my short hair, I looked like I just had a long thick piece of hair installed on middle of my head, their was no blend no form no nothing!!!! And for her to let me leave the salon like that? Who goes to a salon and leaves with their hair not done???? I emailed the owner regarding my concerns and no response. DO NOT GO HERE. I thennnn.. because I already paid for my hair extensions went back and asked to get fixed and I had to order MORE hair and this time was told about K tips.. I clearly asked the girl if I would have to pay for re installment because I had already paid her for installment she Literally said "no, you would only pay for the k tip extensions" I asked her TWICE to make sure I would not pay re installment.. when my k tip hair came in, I got the wefts re installed and the k tips installed by another hair dresser and turned out the first hair dresser NEVER told the second hair dresses what she had told me about the price so I had to pay AGAIN for installment after I asked the first girl TWICEEEE about what I'm paying and would be paying for... I am SO glad NineTwoFive opened up services for scalp treatments!!!! This is so popular in Asia, but unfortunately here in the US is not as much so (yet) and so it's difficult to find a place with staff that I could trust. Briana and her team are LICENSED cosmetologists, experts in hair and use the same hair products from the Keratase line as they do in their hair salon for regular hair services. products are customizable to your hair type after the scalp analysis and video scan. I had my scalp treatment done by Bri and she went through all the steps and educated me about everything she's doing! but no worries she also asks if you'd rather just nap the whole time instead of yapping! all the tools she used felt like a really good scalp massage and everything from the towel wrap to the ambience is calming and worth every penny! 10/10 !!! read more

I have had a love hate relationship with my hair until meeting Molly. I was paying enormous amounts at other salons just for color and my hair got really thin. I now do my own cut and color but Molly sews in extensions which protect my hair as I grow it out. They are intually expensive but the upkeep is about the cost of normal color. Some places are 1,000 for touch ups so while it is still pricey this place is more reasonable and Molly does a beautiful job! read more

I've been coming to her every 4 to 8 weeks for highlights, maintenance, toning, and haircuts. Every time I sit in her chair, I'm excited to see the magic that she'll create. She NEVER misses!! The entire salon atmosphere is amazing. They recently incorporated a "drink of the month", which I think is such a nice touch. Everything about the location, parking, and customer service is amazing. Kristina takes everything to another level by being communicative by text and being flexible when scheduling me in. I love that I can come to her with absolutely no idea of what I want to do for my hair and she helps to guide me. Today, for example, she walked me through different inspiration photos I showed her and explained the tones, dimension, layering, etc. as well as different trends that are coming in and out of style so I can make an informed decision of what I wanted to be done for the day. With family in the area from out of town... wanting to get a baylage... the chances were slim! We called a dozen places and couldn't find someone with availability in the 3 day time frame we were looking for. Luckily, we found Patty online and she had an availability for the following day. Patty was informative, very sweet, and did a great job. We were very impressed with her quality of work! She provided a cut and baylage in just under 3 hours and her prices were on point with what I've seen around town. The salon itself was clean, updated and well styled. It made the place feel high end even though it was a tiny salon! Note that they're also in the process of upgrading to a new location down the road that will be over double the size. I usually don't write reviews and I don't complain about services but I did not get the haircut I was hoping for and I'm a little upset about it, especially because I'm going on vacation soon and I had hoped my hair would not be a problem but now I can't wear it out in confidence. It was my first time here and I had hoped the stylist I had could do a basic scissor haircut. The experience seemed ok at first but it left me more unsatisfied. I don't think the stylist really cared to give me the time to explain what I wanted. I felt rushed. I even showed her a photo reference. It was a shoulder length cut, with layers, that slopes down like an edgy bob. By the end of it, I pointed out that the two sides were uneven and she said they were even but when I pulled both sides down, they were clearly uneven. And the ends were chunky. I asked for her to point-cut them more and it helped a little bit it was still chunky. At this point I didn't feel like asking her to fix it more because it didn't seem like I was going to get what I wanted. I still tipped anyways. When I got home I realized that the experience and the result of my hair was not so great and I'm sad that I have to wait to regrow my hair out in order to get the length back to fix it up again. I know I've gone to other salons that gave me the haircut I wanted and I've had to paid less. read more

This review is long overdue but I had a very unfortunate experience here with the stylist Sarina. I came in with level 9/10 blonde hair, about 2 inches of roots and I wanted to brighten it up and go a silvery shade. Since I had such little roots she recommended I get a partial highlight which I was skeptical about since I wanted to be blonder all over. But I assumed she knew was she was doing so I proceeded. She foiled me, and put me under a heat lamp which I've never had a stylist do. When she pulled the foils out I noticed she did not get me light enough at all, my roots were orange. Additionally, usually I Iove the shampoo but she was really rough and it was almost painful I was wincing the entire time. I LOVED my hair color when I came in, it was bright and blonde and I nearly cried when I saw the color she toned me with, all I wanted was to retouch the top and she completely transformed it all to something so dark and dingy. My blonde hair was toned so dark it nearly looked brown. I left and paid another $200 somewhere else to get a bleach wash and get it retoned but my hair has still not been the same since. I wish I had a better experience. read more

I recently treated myself to a head spa treatment, and it was the most relaxing experience ever! I've visited head spas before, but having a licensed cosmetologist made all the difference this time. It saddens me to have to leave a bad review as I have been seeing Katie for several years. She was at another salon and I followed her to her new location at Nine to Five salon. She usually does color touch ups and haircuts for me. This last time I was not happy with the color and asked if I could come back to fix it. After several messages back and forth she sent me a nasty message and was extremely unprofessional. Stating she no longer wanted to keep our relationship going and that she was cancelling any future appointments. I have been going to Alexandra for years, so I knew I wanted her to do my wedding hair. She and Stephanie did an amazing job leading up to and for my wedding. Alexandra worked with me years in advance to get my hair the right color and length for the day of. For starters, my experience has happened back in August 2024, but it has still major affected my hair to this day, which made me decide that this review was needed. Before my actual appointment, I had went in a week or 2 prior for a consultation. During the consultation, I had mentioned that my hair was a virgin hair and has never been dyed before, up until the middle of July 2024 where I had tried box dye on my hair to see if I truly wanted to dye my hair to blonde but it didn't show up on my hair due to my natural hair being too dark. During the consultation, I had also mention to my hairstylist, Sarina, that my hair was a virgin hair BUT I had tried box dye a few weeks ago. As someone who is new to ever going into a salon, asking for her hair to be dyed blonde, I didn't really know what I should be aware of when asking for what I wanted. When I told her I had used box dye, all she had asked was why I did the box dye and said that the box dye and bleach chemical won't mix well together, and said she still could do my hair and continued to book me for an appointment. I didn't see an issue on continuing the appointment because she said it so confidently that she could dye my hair the way I would like it to be and didn't really seem too nervous about the box dye. As the appointment day came, I sat down, she bleached my hair, and everything was going fine. After foiling up my hair, she put me under the heating lamp to help it sit fast and speed up the process and 10-15 minutes into me sitting there, I started feeling a burning sensation on my scalp and liquid was dipping down the side of my face. I immediately told Sarina and the moment she washed the bleach off, it BURNED so much that my head was throbbing. I didn't have to look at my scalp to know that there would already be a burn. She washed my hair, dried my hair off, and styled it, but the moment I looked at my hair, it was NOTHING of what I asked. Although it was okay looking on the first day, it was nothing of what I asked for. The night I came home from the appointment, I immediately went to wash my hair because I could still see some products left on my hair. The moment I washed my hair, it started to knot up and tangle up. My natural hair would NEVER knot up nor would it tangle up that badly when washing my hair. I could barely even get shampoo touching my scalp without a knot being in the way, AND the conditioner didn't even work on my hair, to where I had to go buy a conditioner for damaged hair a few days later. I got out the shower and immediately brushed my hair out in hopes of getting these tangles and knots out, but instead was left with balls of my hair falling out. Few days later, my sister pointed out the hair breakage ALL OVER my head and how broken and weaken my hair was. So not only was my scalp burnt, l also started to have more hair loss (which I still do to this day), and intense hair breakage all over my hair. Soon after I realized all of this, I immediately texted Sarina, and when she wasn't answering, I called the salon, and right after I got off the phone with the salon asking for Sarina, she almost immediately responded back to my message. She then told me that because of my box dye and bleach mixture, there should be a "little shedding" but in the pictures I included, it was a BALL of hair, it was not "a little shedding", it was a ball of hair. I proceeded to send her the photos if my scalp that was burned, the hair breakage, the ball of hair, and told her my hair has been so tangly every time I was my hair now when it has never been tangled before when washing it. She proceeded to respond with how box dye can be tricky to work with and how most stylist won't even work with it until the box dye has fully grown out. I was then offered a complimentary toner for $105 and when I asked for a refund or AT LEAST 50% of my refund, she said she can't do a refund because she already did my hair. We ended up talking on the phone and she gave me $50 back (out of $290) and left it off with "This was a learning experience for you and all of us". After the conversation with her, I was more confused on why she continued to do my hair if she mentioned that most hair stylist wouldn't even work with box dye until it was grown out OR why she didn't mention this to me during the consultation. Up until this day, my hair is still pretty damaged, with hair falling out when washing it still, hair still gets REALLY tangled when showering, hair falling out, and still a lot of hair breakage all around. read more
