The worst haircut I have ever had. Chellsie Kiger does not understand the word BLENDED layers or fine wavy/curly hair. I have what is best described as a bowl cut on top with a mullet underneath. She took off so much (weight) hair and went way to short with my face framing. I loved the thickness of my hair so for her to take off so much where I feel like I have 5 stands of hair left makes me cry. I never said I wanted my hair thinned out yet she did it anyways. I did tell her I wanted face framing and showed where the length I wanted it at and yet I have the shortest side bangs. Nothing is blended on this haircut you can visibly see each layer seperatly on my head. Also she does not use scissors at all only a straight edge razor which I have learned is not good for fine hair; wish she had told me that. Of course the hair looked great after being blown out but I told her I never do my hair I always wear it naturally. This cut from what I can see after her blowout is meant to be a "butterfly" cut it seems which is for people who blow out their hair everyday. That blowout kept going directly in my face and eyes as all the hair was curled towards my face so I ended up paying a different salon to give me a blowout. Also she did ask me how short I wanted my layers which no one has ever asked me before so I had no idea but again the word blended should have been an indicator that I don't want them to be visible even if they were shorter. Would not recommend unless you want a shaggy or butterfly cut because that is all she knows how to do it seems. read more

This review is LONG overdue as Melanie has been working her magic on my hair since 2017. We even went on a two year journey of crazy colors that I still reminisce about!!! Through it all, my hair never felt damaged or unhealthy. Melanie is very knowledgeable and will address her concerns before moving forward. My experience at Bolt started great....I had a new client consultation with Amber. During our consultation, Amber analyzed my hair and informed me about the different types of extension services she provides. Amber introduced me to k-tip extensions and explained how versatile they are compared to wefts, which I have worn for over two years now. Amber said with k-tips, I'd be able to wear my hair in many different styles due to the strands' individual free movement. I wear my hair up a lot, so the versatility was exciting. I gave her a deposit, and I ultimately decided to try the k-tips. It should be noted that my hair is extra fine and my scalp has some areas of permanent hair loss due to numerous EEG I endured. I expressed this to Amber. At my installation appointment, Amber removed my wefts, touched up my roots, and installed ktips with Bellami hair. When down and styled, the hair was beautiful. That night, the extension sites were very painful, and I had trouble sleeping when placing my head down on any position on my pillow. Amber checked in with me, and I replied that I loved how the hair looked (since I had only worn it down by that point) but informed her of my discomfort. Later that day, I attempted to wear the hair up in a basic high bun and noticed the unfortunate placement of the bonds. I used the recommended products and brushes Amber gave me, but nothing helped mask the unsightly visuals of the extensions, especially on the sides of my head. They were proving to be less versatile than promised. I expressed my concerns to Amber and included photos of what it looked like up. Amber acknowledged my disappointment with her statement, "They would bother me too." She suggested I wear my hair in low pony or bun to hide her placement of the bonds, again less versatile than promised. Still processing what I was seeing, I asked her if we could replace the 4 light colored strands on the sides in my hair with darker pieces at our next appointment in six weeks, to make them less visible. She said she could "tone me" and suggested I use root spray. I explained that I'd prefer them replaced, so she adjusted our future appointment time accordingly to do so. A couple of more days of attempting to style the extensions, looking at tutorials online, and speaking with friends and hair care professionals familiar with k-tips, I learned they were not placed correctly and not an appropriate fit for my hair type. I reached out to Amber explaining my discontent and asked for a removal and reimbursement for half of what I paid her, which totaled $2120.04 (with tip).This was very uncomfortable for me to do as I am familiar with the energy and effort it takes to work in customer service, but I ultimately was not provided with the service promised. To echo what Amber informed me during our initial consultation, the salon's website describes K-tips: "TARGET CLIENT: ALL HAIR TYPES | ACTIVE LIFESTYLE | DESIRES MINIMAL UP KEEP | WEARS HAIR UP A LOT WANTS LONG-TERM WEAR." To my request for a partial refund, Amber replied that she would not offer any type of refund, wished me the best, and abruptly canceled my upcoming six week appointment. She stopped replying and left me in tears. After one more attempt, telling her that "this wasn't right," she finally replied and zelled me back $350 to have them removed somewhere else. I was left hopeless and forced to find another stylist for removal. After only wearing Amber's extensions ONE week, I had a certified k-tip professional remove them. During the removal, it was confirmed that this was a poor k-tip installation. The stylist noted too large of sections per strand for my hair density, over-pulling, improper placement, uneven and scattered sectioning, and messy bond application that left thin bond residue on some areas, just to mention a few. When I discovered extensions over 2 years ago, I fell in love with the confidence it gave me, and my experience at Bolt Salon with Amber could not be more than the opposite of that. Absolutely in love with this quaint salon! I was swooning over the decor and warm ambiance. To add, I'm all about the little extras like a refreshment of Mango Mimosa and chocolate.
