Love, love, LOVEEEEEE THIS SALON! Nyeisha is not only amazing at what she does, she is extremely friendly. She treats new clients as well as she treats regulars. I used to have to go all the way to SF for a beautician that can do my hair the way I want, but not anymore. I was living in Dublin a few years ago and looking for a new beautician that was closer to me and happened to find this gem of a salon and now I live in north San Jose and it is more than worth the drive to go to see Nyeisha. The last time I went, I decided to try something new and got a super short pixie cut but I could not have trusted a better beautician. This is easily the best haircut I've ever had and I don't think I will trust anyone else to cut my hair this short. So for the longest I have had such a hard time managing my hair thus resulting in my constantly wearing hats, well that was until I met Nyeisha. I came to her with some ideas of what I wanted at the constitutional. Rude. Thought I caught it on my initial call but then thought maybe she was just busy. But it happened twice more in person. She has a bad habit of responding quick and cutting you off. The whole pre-pay thing is BS. I didnt feel like she wanted my business anyway. Walked out. When a 12 year old asks "why was she acting like that with us for no reason?" Ignore any negative reviews. I find in life sometimes people think they deserve respect when they haven't been respectful. I have had the best experience at orchid salon. Nyeisha is on time, she has excellent knowledge about hair care and how to keep hair healthy. She is always very professional and gives me feedback about my hair each time I go. I naturally have very fine thin hair. I've had challenges with keeping it full, long and healthy my whole life. Since I've been going to Nyeisha for the past year my hair has been fuller, longer and healthier than it's ever been. She also gives an excellent cut. I get compliments on the hair cuts she gives everywhere I go. She's worth every penny of what I spend in her salon. I'd recommend her to anyone. read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience at this salon. I rarely give one star reviews, only when I experience both horrible customer service and poor services. My experience began with Nyeisha talking down to me over the phone about how the root touch-up that I initially wanted would have to be a complete color correction. I am grateful that she tried educating me on what she felt needed to be done, but she was very rude. There were 3 other major red flags for me: 1) I asked that at the end of the process that my roots be darker than my ends, but Nyeisha flat out told me that my whole head would be the same color. 2) I asked halfway through the process if I could put a brown over my hair, and was told that it would be a dark brown. I wanted light brown, but Nyeisha just told me it would have to be dark and I believed her, so I had them carry on with their treatments. She didn't give me much space to share the desires I had for my hair, so I just believed her. The next day when I came back and had them finish the last bleaching treatment, I was still looking crazy, so I asked again if I could put a brown over it. Nyeisha was talking (a lot), but literally stopped and looked at my with her eyes wide like I was crazy and said, "If you wanted brown we could have just done that yesterday!" I was stunned. 3) They washed my hair and put an olaplex conditioning treatment in it (they even wanted to wash it out, but I didnt let them. Type 3 hair should always have something it in after washing ESPECIALLY after bleaching it so many times). Then after drying my hair, I need a pick to give my hair volume and both Beatrize and Nyeisha could not find one in their whole salon. This is a black salon, but I guess not for afros. Additionally, I did not have to undergo so many bleaching treatments to get to my desired look. Throughout my time at the salon, Nyeisha repeatedly told me that we would discuss what type of blonde I wanted to be, and eventually began talking about honey blonde, which I accepted. I told her that I'm fairly open to be whatever type of blonde, but at some point she adopted the idea that I wanted to be platinum all over my head. I never once said that I wanted to be as light as possible. Platinum is what my ends were, and I did not want to have my whole head that color AND suffer the damaging treatments it takes to get there. Amidst my red flags were a multitude of other things that were not ok. Hair appointments are often stressful, but this one was extreme. After literally years of trying different salons in my area and getting the same reproduced look that suits most of their clientele, I decided to seek out a salon that understands how to cut, shape and style naturally curly hair. What a difference one decision can make! From the moment I walked through the door, I knew something special was about to happen. Nyeisha is so warm and welcoming! She's created a space that conveys her commitment to her profession while also keeping a relaxed environment. She listens! Perhaps the the most elusive quality in previous salons I tried. Full disclosure, my hair was a disaster. Layers of pandemic root touch-up home coloring paired with previous bad cuts left me wearing baseball caps on a pretty regular basis. She changed all that. Lifted the kaleidoscope of saturated colors then went to work on my advanced, pesky grey roots. All the while, chatting away like we'd been friends for years! What a welcome change at a time where things were just opening up again. She knew exactly how to frame my face, match my skin tone to the highlights I wanted and most important of all: Worked WITH my curls! Every salon in the past ALWAYS tried to straighten my hair. Nyeisha just gets it. Kind of hesitate to get the word out because she's already in high demand but she's a revelation! The compliments continue on a regular basis about my hair. Nyeisha did an amazing job with my hair!! She truly performed a complete and beautiful transformation on my natural 4c hair! This was my 1st appointment with her and she was personable, knowledgeable and just straight-up cool. She provided a consultation and offered suggestions for my hair type and hair care. Throughout the washing & styling process, Nyeisha described what she was doing and made sure that I was comfortable. I just love the look and feel of my hair after the silk press. AMAZING!!! I am extremely impressed with this salon! I haven't been to a hair salon in over 2 years or so... Needless to say I needed my hair done very badly! I was recommended to this shop and the Service was one of the best I have ever experienced! I did a big chop and the cut was done to perfection . My hair is silky and smooth and I'm just in the mirror 24/7 because I'm so excited about my new look. The salon is also very clean and Covid Safe! I was also impressed with how they sanitized well after each customer sat in a chair . The conversation was great with the girls in there as well. They are very friendly and welcoming . I honestly don't know who this person from orchid is, and I don't know why this was sent to me (seems like it was meant to be sent to Yelp?). But the fact that this person who I assume works at Orchid tried to lie just kills me. My mom and my sister have not gone back there since my prom day. They don't even live in this state anymore. I will not be removing my previous review. All I have to say is that the owner should not have spent all her time focusing on her father's, girlfriend's, daughter's hair when I was a long-time customer. And if she knew that her hair was going to take longer than it would have for both of us to get it done she should've told me to book someone else. I found the salon on Yelp and stopped by for a consultation. The moment I entered the salon I was met with hostility. While giving me her "professional opinion" on how to care for my hair, the owner was insulting and rude. She told me that she was not accepting new clients; however, she would take me on because I looked like I needed help. In order to make an appointment I had to give a non-refundable deposit of $25.00 via mobile cash app [the only acceptable method of payment], which I did. Despite the deplorable customer service, I booked an appointment since she seemed to know her craft. After sleeping on it, I figured I must have lost my mind. I could not see pass the initial meeting despite her knowledge, so I called and canceled the appointment. I'm out $25.00; hopefully she uses it buy a new attitude. Visited Orchid to get my hair done. The place is seriously a vibe, great company, good times, good laughs and I left feeling confident with my hair whipped to the God's! For those looking for a REAL hair stylist that does all the things including an OUTSTANDING shampoo. GO THERE!! It's sad reading prior reviews that honestly sound like a problem that unfortunately most black women face and that's the expectation of a song and dance for one's business. The lady had a bad attitude for no reason, very rude. She lost a potential client. I went in to just ask about a posible appointment and she snapped at me because I pulled down my mask to talk to her being socially distant standing by the door, salon is small anyways, mean while shes not wearing a mask or even busy, hypocrite much! So even though I thought that was rude, I still was like ok sorry. But then she had an attitude again about the stupid door that didn't close behind me, it's the kind of door that should have closed, but nonetheless it was not on purpose and uncalled for attitude. I was refereed to Nyeisha's salon by a friend. I am an Asian woman with thick, coarse , frizzy hair. I have worn my hair short all my life because of how unmanageable it is. I have tried several hair salons and have had the same problem with every one of them. My hair looks great only for a day and then it goes back to looking and feeling awful. I am pleased to say that for the first time in my life my experience has been completely different. Nyeisha has given me a hair cut that is so chic and is super easy to style .My hair is finally manageable for the first time in my life! Bought a groupon and used it for haircut and conditioning treatment. The owner did my haircut and it came out exactly like what I wanted. Very happy with the results. When I came in, somebody else washed my hair and I waited for about 10-15 min for the haircut, which I didn't like because for that whole time, my head is cold from the wet hair and wind. Also, the conditioning treatment is basically a conditioner that they put after shampoo, which i guess not my expectation and I don't think worth additional $20 (groupon money). But, I go to a salon for a haircut, and as far as the haircut, it was perfect. So, overall I'm pretty happy. read more

Went back for my second visit this week. Nyeisha is a miracle and very professional. In my 1st visit in Nov, I walked in not knowing what I wanted it done to my hair and Nyeisha provided several suggestions, professional opinions, the end result was amazing. I had to make a Yelp account just to express my dissatisfaction and my horrible experience here. I went here with the intention of getting more highlights (my hair already had micro highlights with ash blonde) and showed a reference photo. The owner let me know that she could not replicate the photo I wanted but instead would add more highlights and said "are you okay with it being very blonde because once I am done with it it will be VERY blonde". I agreed because my intention was to go lighter anyway and just wanted a light color. But boy when I tell you my hair came out DARK BROWN with ORANGE highlights I wanted to cry. I expressed my concern and the owner was willing to fix it... however the damage was already done. She suggested adding more color to the roots and toning it again which made things even worse. I am not a confrontational person so having to tell her I was unhappy was extremely hard in the first place but it looked so bad that I cried the second I got into the car. I reassured myself it might look better in another lighting... but no it just looked more orange. I messaged her that evening to express my concerns especially after paying $225 (uggggggh im triggered thinking about this) and attached photos of my hair in my bathroom lighting and she responded essentially saying that I PURPOSELY took photos in bad lighting... and "shame on you" for being unhappy. I asked for a partial refund because I understand she spent a few hours on my hair but at the end of the day I did not get what I paid for... and she said that the only option I had was to come back and tone my hair for the THIRD time. I honestly was so mortified with the thought of her trying to fix the mess she made that I had to pay to get my hair fixed elsewhere. I would NOT recommend this place and wish the owner was more reasonable and understanding when a customer is unhappy. Also still baffled how my hair came out DARKER than when I walked into the salon with if I was originally going in for it to be lighter and she claimed it would be so much "lighter". read more

I found Nyeisha through a referral and I was so excited to learn of a stylist in Dublin that specializes in all hair types including African American, which is my ethnic background. She was a pleasure to meet. She made it clear that her salon is not the usual where you wait around for hours getting your hair done and all the traditional means of straightening hair with heat are unnecessary. She was absolutely right. It took her less than two hours to wash, blow dry, trim and style my hair using a stove pressing comb, titanium flat iron and plug in curling iron. I was surprised she was able to get my hair clean and straight since my hair is very thick and without any chemical straightening products. She said it was all about technique and professionalism.
