From the moment I sat in her chair, she was attentive, professional, and clearly an expert at her craft. She took the time to understand what I wanted (and what my wife envisioned) and executed it flawlessly. The result? An incredible haircut that both my wife and I love. The style is clean, modern, and somehow makes me look way more put together with minimal effort - which is a win in my book. Sarah's attention to detail, precision, and skill made all the difference. Came in for a booking with a friend on a Wednesday afternoon after being recommended to this salon…read moreby two other friends. The salon was clean and professional with some ambient jazz in the background. My appointment with Hibiki started with a gentle hair wash before I was brought a small cup of tea and some konpeito to snack on as I showed him the album of reference photos on my phone. We were able to make some pleasant small talk even with the English-Japanese language barrier, and Hibiki was very attentive to making sure my hair was cut and styled in a flattering way that added volume! (I had let him know I struggled with my hair sitting flat) I would definitely come back!! For anyone looking to book here that doesn't speak Japanese, I would advise you make sure you have clear reference photos of the type of cut you want--preferably from multiple angles. Don't be afraid to ask questions, bust out Google Translate, and make gestures for what length you want your hair at!

This place came up, and Jay had the highest reviews, so I decided to give him a try today. I showed him a picture of the haircut I wanted. He noticed that my current hairstyle had uneven layers and recommended making a few modifications to give me a better overall style. I had my roots touched up and got a haircut. Wow, I really love it! He doesn't overbook his appointments, so he spends enough time with each client for both the color and haircut. I really appreciate that he takes his time and doesn't rush. Highly recommend Jay if you're looking for a great hairstylist!

There is also no volume as my roots were not permed and my hair is aggressively straight, so it looks a little sad and flat on top then bam, curls. I also wasnt given any care instructions for my perm whatsoever, so it's a good thing I'd done my research and knew not to wash my hair or do any styling for the first couple days. I'd definitely give this place another shot, because my hair does look decent, but I'll have to make sure I'm extra clear on what exactly I want. I also need to brush up on my Chinese as I didn't learn hair styling related Chinese in school, so my hairstylist and I could not communicate effectively.

Alice is the very best!!!…read more I've been coming to Alice since spring/summer of 2024, and now I can never go to anyone else. Seriously, the best haircuts I've ever had, that make it worth driving from the Bay Area. While at college, I had to try some other hair stylists and they just don't compare, to the point where she could tell they had done things that weren't in line with what I usually like. Her intuition for what you're looking for is spot on, and she knows how to kindly suggest what will and won't work best. Plus, when I was interested in color but am on a college student budget, she didn't hesitate to give me the best at-home suggestions. Not to mention that she's extremely personable, kind, and takes the time to really get to know you and check in on your life, no matter how long it's been since you last came in.
