I needed to frame a watercolor painting under a short deadline for an art show. I called Vistra and was assisted, over the phone, with the decision to use their website to order all of my framing materials for "DIY" the assembly. I was a little hesitant at first, but the kind gentleman reassured me and explained how to do it. This was also going to be the fastest and least expensive way for me to get my picture framed and also meet the deadline. The website was easy to use and I was able to select from a number of frames, mats, and glass or plexiglass. Three days later, my framing materials were ready. I picked it up the following day and the gentleman at the counter explained to me how to make sure and put it together correctly. I brought the picture home and put it together, and the result was beautiful. I highly recommend this frame shop for their excellent service and cost effective Do-it-yourself framing --if that's some thing you're keen to try. I'm sure having the piece professionally framed would have resulted in excellent quality work as well. I would trust them to do this if that was something I needed in the future. read more

The place is not cheap, and it shouldn't be. Their customer service is excellent, as are their prints. If you are looking for a professional level of printing for your art, precious memento, photo or whatever, these people have you covered. I have had many, many paintings fail at other printers, with the need for at least several trips back and forth for color matching, etc, but Vistra pros got it right on the first go. Wow! What a great local business. I can't say enough good things about them. I just needed a simple mat cut to frame a print in an old frame that has some sentimental value. Not only did they cut the mat while I waited (all of five minutes), they treated my $10 job like it was a major project. I really appreciate that level of professionalism. The staff at Vista was super courteous and collaborative. Lots of ideas and suggestions about best practices. I had three different pieces framed, each one different, and they guided me through the process and never pressured me to buy more expensive glass, frames, etc. -- it was all about what I wanted, and the suggestions for in the interest of the art pieces. As good as it gets!!! Vistra is associated with Web Picture Frames, which is their online outlet (you may have already spotted them on yelp with great reviews too!) and housed in the same building on 4th. My fiance and I stopped in recently for help in getting a canvas print mounted with a custom mat for our upcoming wedding. We plan to ask our guests to sign the mat as our "guest book." Aaron, who helped us, was great!! He was patient with my many questions, offering suggestions on the best methods but also not over-selling us on add-ons we didn't need. He also offered to order the mat through the Web Picture Frames side of things so that we received wholesale pricing on it. Further, Aaron and another woman in the shop (didn't get her name, sorry nice lady!) freely gave recommendations on where we could find the best art pens for what we wanted to do with the mat, as well as offering to provide us with a scrap piece of the mat material that we could test on. All that and then much to my surprise, our order was turned around in just 24 hours!! Everyone at Vistra is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. In general, yes, framing services can be expensive but I felt the pricing here is very fair for what you receive - quality and service both. I own a Frame shop in Hillsboro Oregon. My heat press was too small to accommodate a large map. I brought it to Scott at Vistra and he not only did a fantastic job on mounting the map, he arranged to have the map delivered to Beaverton so I wouldn't have to drive all the way to Eugene. What a lovely find! I had some photos printed for my SO's BDay and needed some frames. But I didn't want BORING frames. You know-"here is...a frame. It comes in white or black. For extra monies you may also select 'wood finish'". So after a brief yelp inquiry I decided to at least take a look. What a gem! They have everything you could need right in shop for hundreds of customizable options. I chose some pretty but definitely not boring frames out of their pre cornered section but you can have them custom anything OR custom yourself via software (which I look forward to trying. Also some lovely art hung on the walls and I was told they lease studio space as well. I look forward to going back sooner rather than later! read more

I had a wonderful experience with Vistra Framing & Gallery. I'm from the Syracuse, NY area, but my daughter lives in Eugene. For her 30th birthday, I found a beautiful poster that I wanted to give her, and I wanted someone in Eugene to mat and frame it for me. I found Scott on Yelp, and contacted him. I sent him the poster in a tube and told him vaguely what I wanted... I gave them artistic license to put something together for me. The result was absolutely beautiful! I was able to arrange payment over the phone, and Scott hit my deadline dead on. My daughter's fiancee picked it up for me and presented it to her on her birthday... it all worked out 100% perfectly. I waited until the last minute to visit Vistra to have a special print matted and framed to be given as a first anniversary gift. Vistra set my expectations but said they would do everything they could to get the job done by Friday (I initially went in Monday of a holiday week). I called on Friday and they said the frame and matting did come in and were cut and they would get to my project within the next few days. I explained that I had an anniversary dinner that night and if there was any possibility of getting it done within the next couple of hours, they would save my marriage (kidding). Sure enough, I got a call 2 hours later saying the job was done and ready to be picked up for me. When I went to pick it up, I was wished a happy anniversary by their personable and friendly staff. The print looks amazing and I cannot say enough about the facility(so many framing and glass options!),staff (not judgmental about my mistake and unrealistic timeline), and the quality of work. They were very fun to work with and helped me create exactly what I wanted the finished product to look like. Framing is expensive so choose strategically. It is good to support local businesses and artists, this gallery / frame shop does that. The staff has a good eye to assist customers but the customer should also have a good idea of what will best fit their budget and what the art will look like hanging in their home so they get what they want.
