Our waiter, Antonio, was an absolute delight and took great care of us! Fair warning: this place gets PACKED, so be prepared for a wait. One thing I really appreciated, though, was that as soon as our food was ready, they brought it out. Everything arrived HOT and fresh. They start you off with antipasto and garlic bread, and both were SO good. But consider yourself warned pace yourself. We made the rookie mistake of going in a little too hard and were already getting full before our entrées arrived. I mean... you can't go to the Lobster House and not get lobster. I ordered the $49.95 Lobster Clam Bake Special, which came with Maine lobster, mussels, baked clams, corn, clam chowder and dessert. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and for everything included, I thought it was a great value. My boyfriend ordered the grilled Norwegian salmon, and honestly, his was REALLY good too. Now, if you love garlic like I do, GET THE NOODLES. The linguine in that garlicky olive oil sauce was one of my favorite things on the table. My only miss was the clam chowder. Mine had a lot of potatoes and barely any clams, so I would've liked a much better clam-to-potato ratio. The ice cream cake roll that came with my special, was rich and decadent. Definitely a good way to end the meal. Overall, fresh seafood, generous portions, hot food, great value and wonderful service from Antonio. We will absolutely be back!

It was done to the point where it was crispy on the outside but not dry on the inside. The fish with a little spritz of lemon was spectacular. We also got the Henny Colada to try and honestly, they are heavy-handed with the Henny! I personally would just get the piña colada next time since it was super refreshing and not too sweet but if you're looking for a slight buzz, the Henny Colada will do you right. All in all, I was unbelievably satisfied after this meal and so glad this gem exists! Tons of seating both inside and outside, and don't forget to bring cash!

Beyond the food, Archie's also has one of the best Scotch and whiskey (bourbon and rye included) selections anywhere in the area. It feels curated by people who genuinely care about food and drink, not just running another restaurant. We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. The best example of the attention to detail was the chopped cheese sandwich special. When it arrived, my first thought was: "How is anyone supposed to eat this giant thing?" But then you take a bite and realize the bread was custom made specifically for the sandwich. Somehow it completely melts in your mouth along with the meat and cheese, making this enormous sandwich unexpectedly delicate and perfectly balanced. I wasn't the only one reaching for the salt shaker either. Several people in our group added salt to their meals. The prices also felt high, especially since many of us ordered from the lunch menu. None of this makes me write the place off. The service was strong, they treated our large group well, the seafood was fresh, and there are several things on the menu I still want to try. So yes, I'll return. My final message to the kitchen, with all the seriousness of Captain Picard addressing the bridge: Season the food. The Force is already with the seafood. Now bring the salt.

We went with the Sammy's Broiled Combination and the Piri Piri shrimp appetizer sized. But before we even ordered, they dropped 3 types of bread with pickled vegetables. We are basically full better the food even arrived. Our waiter was swamped. They were definitely understaffed for a Friday afternoon unfortunately. That said, the food was good overall. We won't necessarily be back to City Island anytime soon but if you're here, Sammy's isn't a bad choice.

And we're all like wait why didn't he service us further as we didn't get to ask him for anything else we needed. City island used to be a gem. And used to be where you could come and get some good seafood but it's all sad, bland and old now. It was unacceptable to receive crabs that were not fresh.

Sharing my recent experience at Vistamar, and I must express some concerns that I hope you will address for the benefit of your patrons. The primary reason for choosing Vistamar was the desire to enjoy both the dining experience and the entertainment area. Regrettably, upon arrival, our group was disappointed to learn that that we were unable to choose the entertainment area as intended. Clear communication or an option to reserve this area would greatly enhance the overall customer experience. Moreover, during my visit, there were noticeable service issues that impacted the enjoyment of the evening. Didn't even know who the watier was and he hardly came back ot take care of our group of 18. The lack of inquiry about smoking preferences, the absence of an open bar for drinks, and slow service without any offers for water or additional beverages were aspects that stood out negatively. Asked for a diet coke and it took three times to ask and recieving it an hour later. Furthermore, the restaurant did not appear to be kid-friendly, and the absence of English music and all the music was in Spanish did not allow for this ot be an inclusive. This contributed to an environment that didn't align with the expectations. Additionally, the quality of the kids' pizza fell short of expectations, resembling the type of pizza found in a school cafeteria rather than meeting the standards one would anticipate from a restaurant like Vistamar. read more

I recently visited this restaurant to celebrate my mother's birthday and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was warm, the food was excellent, and the music added a special touch to the evening. It left such a great impression that I decided to consider this place for an upcoming event. Unfortunately, my experience trying to plan that event was disappointing. I initially reached out by email, or even by calling at the restaurant's phone number but never received a response. Hoping for better communication in person, I visited the restaurant to speak with someone directly. After being told that the owner would meet with us, we waited over 20 minutes with no update or acknowledgment. A staff member mentioned they would "take care of us," but no one followed through. It's confusing and frustrating to see event planning services advertised when there appears to be no clear process or commitment to assist potential clients. I genuinely loved my first visit, and I believe this place has a lot to offer--but the lack of communication and professionalism around event coordination was a letdown. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the customer experience for future guests. read more

Do you like being frisked at the door? Screaming at the top of your lungs to speak to your friends or family at the table over stadium speakers blaring whatever the DJ thinks he wants the diners to hear? How about a decor that reminds you of a High School prom-meets-nightclub? Wait staff were nice, but the floor management was rude and had all the professional polish of Correction Officers, which I believe was the last career these people had. I get why this place is popular; Kids' birthdays, graduation parties, or first dates for young ladies dating men who just..uh.."graduated" from a different kind of institution, and of course, the brunch crowd. This restaurant has an impressive view by the water, but the view and reasons why people go here aside, I was disappointed with the seafood that tasted like it was frozen, lack of sides with your entre that makes no sense (why mashed potatoes, yet no baked potatoes?), and you can't get a steamed lobster, yet they serve steamed crab legs. I can see that they are trying to go for this place to be an experience rather than actual dining, but this place is not for you if you've actually eaten at real restaurants. The moment you arrive, you're greeted with stunning waterfront views and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for an amazing dining experience. OMG! I don't know where to start! If you haven't been here, make it a MUST GO TO! My husband and I frequent this restaurant, they treat us like family. There has not EVER been a time where the greeting of high expectations were never met. The ambiance, the staff's hospitality are overwhelming and their spirits are always on ten! The food is delicious! The bar area is "sports bar" vibe and comfortable, drinks are made with love(Alicia, the bartender so pretty and delightful all the time we visit). Make sure you ask for Kwame to assist you with your event planning needs as his spirit and energy is so welcoming. The online reviews were promising, and the establishment appeared inviting, promising convenience by eliminating the need for parking. However, upon arrival, we were met with an unexpected disappointment. The cocktails and the atmosphere are almost unbeatable! However the food left a little too much to be desired. I had the skirt steak which was not very hot, and came rolled up into a ball for some reason? The appetizers had a few highlights such as the crab cake. My mother in law originally ordered the lamb then was informed by our server almost 30 min later they were out. We did end up having a GREAT time though, just because of the show that was put on by the dancers and singers, as well as their delicious cocktails. I had a fantastic birthday dinner at Vistamar! My server, Chris, was attentive and provided excellent service, ensuring that drinks arrived promptly. The manager, Carla, did a great job overseeing everything and making sure the evening went smoothly. The cocktails were delicious. I especially enjoyed my Old Fashioned. I booked a reservation for my birthday last week and I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. Dianaris was our server, she was not welcoming at all. Her dry personality turned my stomach. My party felt rushed to order and she kept asking us to reconfirm our reservations amount, which was very sad because one of the bday other bday girls family never made it. That attention to detail was appreciated. The crowd was mature and respectful, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The music selection offered a nice variety and complemented the brunch experience well. Service: Our waiter was friendly and attentive. When I requested lemon and an additional brunch menu so my husband and I could each review the options, I learned that only one menu was provided for the table. Since I tend to take my time deciding what to order, having a second menu would have made the process much easier and more enjoyable for both of us. I asked for the menu and lemon he said he would come back and he NEVER did.. we had to ask for it twice . And at the time of ordering our meals it's then when they beamy us the lemons to squeeze into our glass of water. Food: I had the chicken and waffles . Nothing difficult to put together. However if you are going to state on your menu that it's chicharrón de pollo was bland no taste I had to ask for lime to give it some salty mess to it. My husband steak and eggs which came with rice. Steak was chewy he said it was ok nothing to brag. Over all I will give this place a 6 out of 10

We had the $45 special, which included an appetizer, an entrée, and two hours of unlimited mimosas or sangria. The garlic shrimp with bread was easily a 10/10! It was so good that I actually saved the sauce to put on my salmon later. The salmon itself was also good, but unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were dry and bland, which was a little disappointing. The DJ was one of the highlights of the night, along with the ambiance and the overall space. The restaurant was very spacious, and the atmosphere was laid-back and fun. The drinks were also strong and definitely worth it! Unfortunately, the chicharrón fried chicken was a major disappointment. Several people in my party ordered it, and the chicken smelled like either the chicken or the frying oil was old. I actually had to spit it out after trying someone's chicken because of the taste and smell. Our server was nice, but I do think they could have been a little more attentive throughout the night. Overall, there were definitely some great parts the garlic shrimp, the salmon, drinks, DJ, and ambiance but the fried chicken and mashed potatoes were misses for me. I would go back maybe for drinks and the vibes not the food.

You get about six shrimp and the fries were actual potatoes cut into wedges. I would have preferred either more shrimps or larger shrimps and less fries but they were good. The draw on Wednesday nights is karaoke. It was ALOT of fun and it gets crowded so be prepared to put your name on the list and wait to sing your song. The margaritas were 100% worth the hype. They were sweet yet strong and not overhyped at all. If soft serve margaritas were on your radar come to this place! On top of the good margaritas they also have a good bottomless brunch that I was able to experience on another dining day as well as an extensive menu. The servers here are incredibly tentative and nice. They make an effort to get to know you.
