It has a lounge vibe. Loud music but you can hear the person sitting across from you speaking. It has the led lighting. My original waiter wasn't that great after he got our orders he was too busy talking to the person at the table next to us to realize we needed anything. However a new waiter EJ picked up the slack and really gave us a great dining experience. The food: My dads plate was so pretty! My plate of Arroz con Pollo looked lack luster but the rice was good. I don't like that it had little cut up pieces of bones mixed in with the rice. A few times I had to spit out what I was chewing or dig for bones in food that's in my mouth (eww). From Justine who helped us prior to the gathering, to the staff the night off. They were absolutely wonderful. The Pre-fix menu had our names on it. My friends and I just left here. Initially the experience was great! The drinks came out well but the appetizers were mediocre. The salmon croquettes were mushy and tasteless and the ribs were an extremely small portion. We requested a specific whisky, which was at the bar, and we were told it was only for display! The entrees took over an hour and a half to come and there was no communication from our waiter as to why the food took so long. Once we said something to the waiter he shared that the kitchen was experiencing issues. None of this was communicated ahead of time. We continued to wait and then eventually we decided to cancel our orders. Two owners came to speak to our table (one Black one Latinx). The Black owner came to us and apologized. He tried to convince us to stay and continue ordering drinks, but we refused. We were really hoping for a positive experience, but ultimately it's a place we'd never return to. We were then approached by a random man who claimed that he was friends with the manager. He basically tried to get us to go to a different restaurant. Why he was at our table I'm not sure. Came here tonight and had mussels as an appetizer and the Paella. If you are serving seafood please try to make sure it is cleaned properly. Every mussel I had, had sand in it and you could actually tell that the shells were not cleaned let alone set to soak for 20 minutes so that all sand is discharged. If you like ALOT of rice then this is the Paella for you. Hardly any seafood and the lobster if far too over cooked. Stay away from VISTA MAR Restaurant in City island. I ordered the grilled salmon with vegetables and mash potatoes. The vegetable in my plate was one little broccoli floret which was hidden under the smallest piece of salmon I have ever received at a restaurant. The mash potatoes tasted like it was made from a box. Nothing about my meal tasted good, I felt robbed! My 13 year old order a Caesar salad which was nasty and bitter, how do you get a Caesar salad wrong? The next order was fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and the other order had shrimp both parties complained the meals didn't have any Flavor and that's after they attempted to add hot sauce to the nasty meal. To add insult to injury they give you a glass full of ice with your meal because once we took a sip of the soda it was gone, seriously the whole glass was filled with ice. We order a lemonade for my daughter which I thought was insane that they would charge $8 price tags for a glass once again filled with ice. To add insult to injury we order 4 empanadas for appetizers which turned out to be 2 empanadas cut in half they were horrible tasted like a ball of salt no flavor. My empanadas taste 150% better and I am not a chef. The bill for our meal was $500 We don't mind spending money on a good meal but $500 on a trash dinner. Disgusting ! Stay away from this place! We should have known the minute we walked in at 7pm and the place was completely empty. I will give them the ambiance is nice but let's be real you go to a restaurant to eat a good meal and this place is not it. The lobster Mac cheese was ok and this is why I gave them 1 star as oppose to a "0". I visited this place before the renovations and I found it to be nice and inviting with great views and food. however we were there this past weekend and while it's gorgeous inside and the hostess, was such a nice young lady, even our waitress and staff were amazing, My only problem is the music when I tell you that my ears were ringing when I got home. it was extremely loud, I could barely hear my waitress let alone hear the people I was dining with. this will be the deal breaker, we won't be back. another thing I wasn't too fond of was the 18% gratuity added on top of orders that are $!00.00 and up. no matter how many are in your party. our first instinct was to have it removed, but I told them to let's just give it to her and she was deserving of this tip. people should be able to tip according to the service they receive. especially at these prices. Please note, if you have to use the restroom, be prepared to have to shuffle your way through as they have set up a photo area right near the restrooms, not a good place for this. I noticed they now have valet parking, unbelievable. that should be a choice. good thing we close and didn't have to worry about that. read more

My boyfriend and I ordered pickup from UberEats yesterday and it being a nice day decided to dine outside to have drinks with our dinner. We put or names on the list and received a table within 20 minutes. The server never came and introduced herself my boyfriend had to search her down and ask for drinks twice before she came down. It seems they had an attitude we were eating take out from their restaurant. We were never checked on and asked to speak to a manager to let her know of our experience. I told her we never received water and was told they don't offer water without it being requested. I then pointed out she never checked on us to see if we wanted to order additional food or drinks (spoiler alert we did). The manager said they were short staffed and it was only the 2nd day they were open due to COVID-19. I then tell her I see the server checking on the Hispanic diners and she said it was a misunderstanding and that delays with checking on costumers was the new normal as is giving us water. I then remind her that the other tables had received "additional attention" one even received a new umbrella for her table. This is my second and last time I spend money there. We had to flag down the server down again to pay the bill. I don't understand how after complaining to the manager she did not ask us if we wanted anything else. I get they were closed due to the pandemic but did they forget how to treat paying costumers? We felt complete disrespected as a black couple for the way we were treated. read more

Highly Recommend!! I visited Vistamar this past weekend to celebrate a friends engagement and it was such a great decision! As a party of 10, we were looking for a place that was in a good location, offered great food/drinks, had a pleasant ambiance and this was it! We chose the pre-fix menu option which included an Appetizer, Entree AND Dessert, it was perfect because they were even able to add a congratulations message to the individual menus. This gesture was such a memorable part for the couple! Not to mention, there was even a photographer offering to take pictures of the table. Now for food, let me just say you can taste how fresh everything was! The portions were great, even enough to take some home! Loved everything I tried! Had a birthday dinner for my mom her on 1/27/18 and I must say the service was amazing. We had a prefix menu for a party of 30 that included 3 course meal and soft drinks, the menu had a great selection to choose from. Justine was so helpful in helping plan everything. The food quality has improved compared to the previous restaurant that occupied this space. All the restaurant staff did a great job in making sure everyone in our party was taken cared of. The waitress was a bit slow since they just opened and were playing "catch-up" it was an ok experience but too much to pay to eat uncomfortable in the heat with plastic utensils instead of actual cutlery... other then that, ok. Then the epic moment of stupidity came when the waiter returns with the bill where they had the audacity to charge me for the plate that I waited forever for because my first dish was spoiled. He said we only charged you 10 $s. I said you should t charge me anything!!!! You served me rotten food, then I waited for ever for new meal, and entirely missed eating along with my family. I'll take COVID in consideration when they do. I say this because cash only doesn't work that well because of the COVID. People are not paid a regular salary. So some are making due by using credit cards. I thought price gouging immediately when I looked at the menu. With that said let's talk about the food. Eating their food reminded me of cardboard, no flavor and the preparation was poor. They put plastic plates and utensils on the table but the person that put them there did it badly. I almost felt like he was throwing it at us. He didn't but if he's serving customers, he should be taught how to place items on a table in a restaurant We were a party of four and most of us didn't eat the food. My party was also quickly seated upon arrival, practiced safety measures due to covid and received my food quick. However, the parking lot was so tight & my waiter was extremely inattentive.
