Let's first say the server HECTOR was the best ! NOW the food very bad steak over cooked , lobster tail very dry .

They are only taking cash at the moment. The atm inside charges $3 per withdrawal and max withdrawal is $200. They auto-put the tip on the bill as well. The food was ok, had the tbone with shrimp and lobster tail. It was delicious, the meat seemed like it needed some additional seasoning but a little salt took care of that. The waitress was a bit slow since they just opened and were playing "catch-up" it was an ok experience but too much to pay to eat uncomfortable in the heat with plastic utensils instead of actual cutlery... other then that, ok. The mango sangria tastes awesome, and the $30 VistaMar drink special was ok. read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. I came in last night celebrating my sisters birthday with family and they intentionally served me spoiled crab legs. The stench from the "crab legs" was so acidic, as though they soaked it in a solution to clean the spoiled order of it. I was the last out my party to be served and I waited quite a while for them to damn near poison me with their spoiled food. They have no regard for people's health, well being that they would serve food that is obviously spoiled to any person. I was so disgusted , upset and furious. I told the waiter to smell the legs, the texture was even slimy inside. Disguised with seasoning. When the manager came over she said she new and asked if I wanted something else. I wanted to punch her in the face because it was no way this wasn't intentional. But to not make a scene I had them make what everyone else in my party was eating. When she finally brought that dish to me everyone was done eating so I said I'd take it to go. I was beyond upset and hungry on so many levels. Then the epic moment of stupidity came when the waiter returns with the bill where they had the audacity to charge me for the plate that I waited forever for because my first dish was spoiled. He said we only charged you 10 $s. I said you should t charge me anything!!!! You served me rotten food, then I waited for ever for new meal, and entirely missed eating along with my family. Just for everyone to leave without me eating anything. This place is trash!!!! EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK AS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR WELL BEING AND WILL SERVE YOU GARBAGE AS THEU SERVED ME. When it was Don Coqui it was really good food. This new place is trash. read more

I'll take COVID in consideration when they do. I say this because cash only doesn't work that well because of the COVID. People are not paid a regular salary. So some are making due by using credit cards. I thought price gouging immediately when I looked at the menu. With that said let's talk about the food. Eating their food reminded me of cardboard, no flavor and the preparation was poor. They put plastic plates and utensils on the table but the person that put them there did it badly. I almost felt like he was throwing it at us. He didn't but if he's serving customers, he should be taught how to place items on a table in a restaurant We were a party of four and most of us didn't eat the food. We paid $200 and change with tip. The waiter was pleasant and professional but the environment not too cool. Maintenance of the outdoor area was minimal and the food was inadequate. read more

Don't get me wrong the ambiance was amazing as it has always been back to when it was Don Coqui with good music. My party was also quickly seated upon arrival, practiced safety measures due to covid and received my food quick. However, the parking lot was so tight & my waiter was extremely inattentive. I had to wait forever to ask for another soda that I received when I was done with my meal. The doors were wide open which made it too cold for my son. When I received the check I realized there was a covid surcharge of $20+ added on to the bill of the meals + 18% gratuity that's added as well. read more

Wow, Vistamar was definitely brilliant. I also love the location. My friend had many items from their menu, but he thinks that their Churrasco is just simply remarkable. Team is super friendly and can help you with anything. Great location, nice atmosphere will be back soon. read more

I had my sisters 50th birthday party at Vistamar. The staff was absolutely phenomenal!!! I had reservations due to me living out of town but Mr. Bar the manager made sure everything went as planned. We had 27 guest a pre-fix menu with my sisters name on it. The music was great, the food was amazing! Everyone was very pleased including the birthday girl. I would definitely recommend Vistamar for any special occasion. read more

I live upstate my husband went fishing off city island today. I ask him pick up a cheese mofongo for me for dinner. My husband brings it home and I got the scent right away. So I took a bite and spit it up. They fried the platanos in same oil as a fish was fried in !!!!!!! Very disappointed and more disgusting never again read more

I've visited this establishment on various occasions for different celebrations. The food and service are usually great (pre covid) however, I visited yesterday in celebration of a bday and the service was not up to par. Waiter kept giving us misinformation of drink availability and all around service was not great. The drinks ( that were available) were great, food was good. Waiter needs better training. read more

My sister and I took my parents here to celebrate their anniversary and they couldn't have been happier. We made a reservation for 715 but got there early and we were seated right away. The hostess confirmed the occasion as I selected we were celebrating an anniversary when I made the reservation, which surprised me because so many places don't even recognize that anymore. The service was excellent and food was delicious. Very big portions and strong drinks which is fine with me. On Fridays they have a live band but we didn't see the band although around 8pm we realized the music was changing but it sounded more like a dj just couldn't see him from where we were sitting. The manager came over several times to check on us and there was a photographer walking around taking pictures that he can print instantly and place in a frame for $10. Which normally we wouldn't do but it was their anniversary so why not and the picture came out very nice. We really enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable for city island. $300 for 4 people including tip with 2 drinks each, 2 appetizers, and our entrees. We will definitely be back. Especially for brunch on Sunday as we were told they have over 80 items on the buffet. read more

Food here is awful waste of money service meh waiter somewhat rude and bothered by the customers. Overall this place is not it for me never again read more

Unfortunately, as Excited as we were to eat at vista mar for the first time, we were extremely disappointed. The food was horrible. 1. The go to simple meal; Fried shrimp and french fries: the shrimp were rubbery, the breading was horrible (as used on chicken fingers) and cold! Packaged Kraft tarter sauce AT CITY ISLAND!!! 2. Pina Colada, fake coconut taste, not naturally made. We will never go there again! read more

Their customer service is horrible and the manager only walked around throughout our visit scolding the staff instead of helping out. They use to have great service before COVID-19 . read more

I was very excited to come here for Valentine's Day the prefixe menu of 4 courses & a glass of Prosecco for $60 seemed like a great deal. Unfortunately for my boyfriend & I we were only given 3 of the 4 courses(took the dessert to go) & when asked about the glass of Prosecco the waitress said it didn't come with it. The least we could have gotten was a glass of Prosecco for the horrible service it took 30 mins just for the waitress to come over and when she did we didn't even have menus, being there for almost 2 hours because of her lack of attention to her guests we were only given 1 glass of water and when we did ask for something else to drink 15 mins went by before she came back with nothing. I really wanted to like this place but poor service & not having the full meal that was advertised/promised was a huge bummer read more

Absolutely DISAPPOINTED. My husband, our baby, and I were starving. They put us at a table immediately, and after 10-15 minutes, we placed our order. The food was okay, BUT the SERVICE was RIDICULOUS. We waited for ONE AND A HALF HOUR, and we didn't even get our salad. After TWO HOURS, they brought the salad and the appetizers, and after an ADDITIONAL HOUR, they brought us ONE OF THE TWO main dinner plates. We were waiting for more than half-hour, and they still didn't get the second dish. Finally, after a total of THREE HOURS without having our whole dinner on the table, we asked for the bill. We waited for 20 minutes to bring the bill, and they gave us the second main plate "to go" along with the bill while charging us the dish. WE HAD CANCELED THE SECOND PLATE, AND THEY CHARGED US. The whole experience was RIDICULOUS. read more

Came here for my nephews Birthday Brunch. Only giving 2 stars because of our waiter. Wish I could remember his name. Other than that, this place is WAAAAACK! The brunch selections were super basic. Only seafood options they had were some spinach stuffed fish and seafood soup. Other than that, the rest of the food was regular Hispanic food. They also had mangu which was a complete disappointment because of how bland it tasted. Never again! read more

Went here for my bday. The place it's nice, they should fix the exterior a bit. The food is good but a bit overpriced. For the money you pay, they could atleast give you some bread or something. I don't know if I would go again. It wasn't bad but it was not worth the price. read more

This is one of the best Restaurants I have visited In City Island, from the moment you enter you're welcome by beautiful hostess and they acomode you In the dinning area where you wish. service is great! Bringing you drinks and appetizers on time and if you have a big group .What I did enjoy the most beside the fine food and service was that they bring you meals for All at the same time!!! And they're very attentive in asking you if you need anything else Good job guys!!! Sure will be back again!!! read more

First time trying this restaurant through Uber eats. I am not in NY but I thought it would be nice to order some food for my dad for Father's Day. Not many places in City Island are partnered with food delivery services they were one of a few. I was told by my dad the food was spoiled the lobster claws we ordered when he cracked open the shell the meat was black! That lobster must have died and was not kept refrigerated so the meat spoiled. I called to let them know just so they can check their inventory but they did not seem to care. So beware the seafood was not fresh and it does not seem to be a concern for them. I have lived in the Bronx for years ago and City island has many great spots but stay away from here read more

I came here with my family, a party of 4 on a Saturday (6/15/19.) The place wasn't busy but the food sucked. I ordered a medium rare churrasco with a lobster tail and the steak came medium well, no pink at all and flavorless. The lobster tail was cooked well, but again flavorless. The beans also had no flavor, I'm pretty sure the black beans are straight from the can. I ended up telling the manager to just wrap my food to go after 3 bites, she asked me if everything was okay and I told her no that everything was flavorless and I would be taking my expensive meal home to season myself. My brother ordered a sirloin medium rare and again that came medium well done and my nephew ordered the dry chuletas. When we asked a busboy for the manager he had the nerve to shoot us a dirty look. Overall, we're never coming back again. It was a complete waste of money. read more

Came here as the only vegan in a group of seafood cravers. I told him my sauce that I had just poured all over my food had cheese in it. He told me no that I was wrong and that it doesn't instead of just taking it and getting me a new one. I waited there for another 10 minutes till he came back and told me it had cheese in it. He didn't even offer me a new one! I suggested it and he was like "ok". The service is all bad. I saw my waitress in the bathroom and she didn't wash her hands with soap. She just rinsed her hands and left then I see her hand us our silverware. I was so grossed out. Also our waiter gave us someone else's check on accident and even though I don't live in New York, I won't be coming back here if I did. Won't be suggesting this place either. read more

Beautiful restaurant with great staff. We hosted a surprise brunch on Sunday. We had our own private section waiting for us upon arrival. It was situated perfect for the guest of honor to see us once she got there. The location was perfect for a classy, family oriented, delicious brunch. Definitely recommend this place for big group events! read more

The food was flavorful and everyone enjoyed their seafood dishes when they arrived. My lobster was overdone and rubbery. The service was a bit frustrating, our waitress stopped by a total of 3-4 times over two hours. I never had a chance to order a cocktail because she wasn't attentive, they lost out on some add ons to our check because of that. It does get a bit loud when it's birthday celebrations and they play music for each. I don't think this crowd is for everyone - if you are looking for intimate and sophisticated this isn't the restaurant for you. I didn't hate it so if I had to go back I would, not a top pick for me on city island though. read more

Lived in city island my whole life I am a true clam digger. My island people know what it is. Alisha is the best, coming forever for the true authentic cuisine of my culture. The food is just like abuelitas today I had the chef special , the staff is phenomenal the food is worthy of a first second and third try. Portions are excellent . Kwame always gives a smile at the door he's the very well dressed manager in the front, this is not cookie cutter Hispanic cuisine the chefs cook from the heart. Love this place always and forever locals come and get grub!! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE The management has absolutely no regard for customer service. When I complained about the very poor service (dinner dishes still on the table when the servers were taking dessert orders, coffee was NEVER served) for the party of 19 I had there, the manager (Justina) , who claimed to be one of the owners told me "get out of my face, go sit down or I will have you escorted out" . read more

I wish this place was still DON COQUI, the atmosphere around was dead. No one was barely in this restaurant. For such a beautiful location, they tossed out the window the dresses code DON COQUI set. Now you see people walking in as if this were Mc Donald's. The food wasn't as expected, it basically sucked, no other words to describe it. Although the restaurant was EMPTY with only 4 tables probably with people. They refused to sit me and my party of 10 even tho we were only missing 2 people who were running late. Our waiter mixed the orders up, we were being charged for food WE NEVER REQUESTED, by this point I was mad and to top off the horrible service. The waiter mixed our payment and charged the incorrect card almost the full amount although we specified to her what card was to be charged what amount. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, I WILL NEVER RETURN. read more

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2019 event was a big flop. I understand you may want to bring your children along for dinner but how sexy and grown can you feel when there are small children (as young as 3) and teenagers running and dancing on the dance floor? For $60 a person I did not think I needed to ask about an age limit and being amongst children was the last thing I expected. There was so much potential but it left me really unsatisfied. No proper countdown, no fanfare when it did turn midnight. And this was their "2nd Annual Masquerade event". No wonder we were able to "reserve" a table last minute... read more

Wow, the food is just amazingly delicious, but that's as far as it goes, the service was just AWFUL!! I was so disappointed and annoyed that such a lovely venue, the service between the server and bus-person was outrageously rude, never came to the table to ask for our order for 2 hours because we were chatting, lame! A clean utensil was requested after eating appetizers and was declined! What?? The servers need more training, the sad note is that because it was a large party, the gratuity was included in the bill, not deserved at all. I will never recommend Vistamar to anyone, UNLESS THEY ORDER TAKEOUT! SHAME ON YOU. Irene M. read more

Ever since jimmy left the island it hasn't been the same. The service really went down hill in the dinning room. It takes forever to get the servers attention. Then they harass you not to forget there tip!!?? But did they think about the tip when my food was brought out cold?? Thank GOD SHAKIRA IS STILL THERE!!! She took care of everything! I actually transferred my self to the bar and she made me feel at ease . Shakira gets five stars across the board. Everything else three stars .
