Wow what memories of turtle cove golf center in the city island part of the Bronx or technically not in city island but close enough .You got a driving golf range to hit the bucket full of golf balls as far as you can , mini golf range for the kids or adults who stink at regular golf and a batting cage section to get your swing on . Place looks the same after all these years and it's a bit scary at night if you look across the road and wonder what's lurking in the woods .A food stand that actually has good food so I can stuff my face while hitting golf balls and while we are here a little batting practice and finishing up with some fun miniature golf before we hit the road . This is such a fun venue, and we went on a beautiful day. I went with a group to hit some balls at the Driving Range, which was nice. While there we realized they had batting cages, so we were excited to hit those up. We had such a great time! They have different speeds, I did the slow pitch softball and they had all the way to fast pitch baseball. Pricing for the driving range and batting cages is reasonable and different specials for families and date nights. They also have mini golf, which in my opinion was pretty basic but still nice option to have. They have food and alcohol which we weren't expecting so that was great. Definitely recommend for some exciting outdoor entertainment! read more

I used to come to the batting cages here every weekend when I was on our corporate softball team. The batting cages helped up my game a bit and was a nice way to keep it moving and fun. Looks like they are definitely under new management, two reasons. One, there was a mini-golf setup years ago. You know the ones where you would try to get a ball through a windmill or through a dinosaurs mouth? Well that's gone and is now back sans dinosaurs. And two, the entire place has under gone major renovations. The Tee-Line looks immaculate, with most golfers driving their golf balls like pros. The cages look as I remember them, but you can tell that the surrounding area has undergone a facelift also. There's also a little cafe offering food and beverage. This looks like a perfect summer spot to tighten up your golf swing, do some mini-putt putt or practice knocking a softball/baseball or two out the park. read more

Went on a weekday afternoon this past week and it was quiet. Maybe because the kids were back in school. They had a good sized parking lot. The driving range was good and there are signs for distance points. Some of the spots are under a roof and some aren't. Had a snack after golf and they have some things in their snack bar such as chicken fingers, fries, hot dogs, sliders etc. A little overpriced, but not terrible and they make it to order. They have a tent with picnic tables for eating, which was nice since it was sunny and hot. I then went to their batting cage, where they have both baseball and softballs and different speeds. That was a mess because sometimes when you choose baseball on the machine that takes tokens, softballs end up being pitched to you. And the pitches came out on an arc and some didn't even reach the plate. Then we tried the fast pitch baseball only machine and that worked, but it was too fast for us. Back to a baseball/softball machine and again softballs came out instead of baseballs and this time the balls came out even higher and sometimes even hit the overhead net and didn't even reach the plate. There is even a reset button on some of the machines that was supposed to reset the machines in case they stopped working, but they didn't do anything. The batting cages functionality was really a mess and a hit or miss if they worked for what you wanted, or worked at all. Luckily, a worker there named JASON came over right away to try to help. I don't even know how he knew that there was a problem. But he tried his best and explained why there were certain problems while acknowledging them. He tried his best and was always running back and forth, not taking his time. In the end, he just gave us some extra tokens to make up for the problems we were having. read more

Turtle Cove is a cute date night idea. There's many fun options such as mini golf, batting cages and golfing similar to Top Golf. I visited closer to their closing time so it wasn't too packed; there was only a few other groups mini golfing at the time. The course is a little confusing to navigate but we ended up asking another group who guided us. City Island is close by so a good choice to go before or after for a meal. I had never done batting cages before but it was actually fun and not as nerve wrecking! Overall I wasn't too impressed with it and there's way better mini gold options in NYC but for the pricing it's not a bad choice. read more

The mini-golf course was alright, but needs sprucing up and I do not know whether that has been done in recent years. Stopped by on a Sunday late afternoon prior to dinner at City Island. Plenty of parking when you arrive and it wasn't too crowded. My friends and I didn't do mini golf, but did try out the batting cages and driving range. Both requires tokens, which you can purchase from the booths. They have food/driving range deals and we went with a large bucket and a pizza for $20, not bad at all! Beers were only about $5 too, and they had some good selection. The batting cages were pretty fun - about $3.50/per token, but that gets you 25 pitches. Several of the cages were broken and at times, the pitches were off center, but you just let them know at the booth, and they'll give you another token to make up for it. There is quite a wait here if it's crowded, and the number of bats available are limited, but my friends and I still had a good time. You also have the option of renting a cage out for $60/hour, but the tokens are probably a better deal at $3.50 per token and buy 5 get 1 free. Overall a good time, and definitely worth a visit - especially if you happen to be visiting City Island anyway. read more

What a great place to spend the day with your kids! We played miniature golf the hit the driving range. The mini course was fun and challenging and the driving range was great practice for me and good exercise for the little ones. Lunch was good too. I purchased a groupon which included $15 for mini-golf and a large bucket of balls and clubs. Upon arriving at Turtle Cove my groupon app started acting up and I could not pull up the barcode. Regardless of this inconvenience, where any other place would've turned us away they welcomed us and set us up quickly as if nothing were wrong. They were so helpful I thought they were sarcastic about it!! We had a blast and I would recommend this place to anyone! From serious golfers trying to get some practice in, to families, or even a group of friends just trying to have some fun, Turtle Cove is the place to go! I will surly be returning soon. read more

Average golf-range. They are reasonably priced and parking is ample. The actual area could use some work and they could get some nicer drivers. However, I could understand why they have the drivers they do, because of people like me who can break nice ones easily with a bad shot. All-in-all they are good. $10 for 180 balls between 8AM to 11AM on the weekend? That's a great deal. They aren't bad with their pricing on drinks, juices and stuff at all and because of that it is good deal to go there. On a nice day, it feels great to drive a ball as far as you can. read more

This place got a major overhaul recently. Some big improvements have been made. New mats at every station with tees, new balls, lots of new clubs for rental if you need (they look to be pretty decent too). They are still doing some work on the place, but the range is open for business. $13 for a big bucket, $9 for a small. Doesn't look like they are advertising any deals yet, but if it's the same owners I'm sure they will at some point. Also, doesn't look like they are currently selling beer..I should have asked about that, I will next time. read more

We visited early May of 2012 right after they opened again from renovations. picked up a groupon $15 for mini-golf for 2 and a large bucket of balls for the driving range. hell yea. having bought the groupon, it also gave me an excuse to go city island-bound, the bf and i made it a date. The actual location was kind of easy to miss so keep an eye out. The 2 guys running the place was extremely friendly and got our visit started in no time. We went on a foggy weekday so it wasn't busy at all. It was my first time mini-golfing in real life and i had a blast!! i'm sure the bf enjoyed getting owned. :P We moved onto the driving range and they gave us a few pointers. I used to go w/ the fam to driving ranges so nothing new there. They provided the clubs and a big bucket of balls. for $15 bucks that's a sweet deal for a cheap fun old-school date. The facilities aren't the most modern but you get a nice almost-country feel fight in the bronx. Their regular prices are great too! Amazing secret way up in the Bronx! Surrounded by lush trees, you'll feel like you've left NYC. The driving range is great and VERY reasonable. The batting cages are also pretty cheap - a little worn down though, and some of the machines shoot too low. Definitely worth it for some sporty fun! hmmm.. I wanted to check this range out because my friend said it was "nice" I did see another yelper review that it looks under construction.. that review was in 2012. It's 2013 now and it still looks like its under construction therefore I can confirm with you guys. IT'S JUST THE WAY THIS PLACE LOOKS. maybe they have a small renovation process.. I came here on a Saturday morning/afternoon and it was pretty packed. I had to park my car all the way at the under construction location.... okay we went to the entrance and purchased large buckets. $13 for 130 balls which is not too bad. They had apple mini ipad or ipad for checkout which is pretty "updated" One staff was nice enough to notice that we were a party of three and told us where we can find an area to be next to each other. We walked to the very far right as we were told. However, I have noticed that the floor hasn't been fixed either. It's the same kind of mud material as where I was parked. read more

Came to play mini golf this place was a mess. There was garbage all over empty water bottles, soda bottles & potato chip bags. The ants had me scared to reach down & pick up my ball. The grass looks like it hasn't been maintained all year. You should also eat before you go there was nothing but chips & drinks to buy. This place was not what I expected at all. My friends and I have never played or been a big fan of golf, but recently saw and purchased a Groupon for $25 which included: One round of mini golf for four (up to a $7 value each) Two large buckets of 130 balls for the driving range (a $26 value) Four club rentals (a $12 value; up to a $66 total value) We weren't expecting much as we headed out to Turtle Cove Golf Center because we remembered it not looking very aesthetic over the past couple years. When we arrived we noticed that they were doing some renovations on what we assume is the club house and/or concessions, but were fully operational with the mini golf and driving range. The staff was very friendly and helpful showing us how to play and score the mini golf, and how to hit the balls on the driving range (none of us had never even held a club before). The TCGC has all new mats at every station, and the clubs and golf balls were also new. As we were leaving, the staff thanked us for coming, and confirmed our assumptions that they were building a new concession area. We had a lot of fun, and will be returning again soon. read more

Greg Moon fixed my swing! I was so frustrated with my golf game I was seriously about to quit. I figured I would get some lessons and if there was no improvement I was done with the game. Spoke to Greg Moon once or twice while I was at the range and decided to get lessons with him. After two lessons I'm hitting the ball as well as I ever had and even when I make a bad swing I can feel it and know what went wrong to correct it. Greg is down to earth and doesn't get too technical. He explains everything and makes it so easy to understand what's going on with your swing. PS: Greg gets 5 Stars but the range itself only gets 3 Stars because there are always a few broken balls in every bucket and the balls look like they've been there since Bush was president. I know it's the Bronx and I don't expect new Titleists on the range, but damn you could buy a few boxes of golf balls one of these years. read more

Turtle Cove is a driving range and also a miniature golf place. It is one of the few activities left to do in my neck of the Bronx. It's pretty cheap and a lot of fun, but be warned that if you go at 5 or later, you should wear bug spray because you will get bitten. read more

Drive by this place all the time and never stop. I actually came here and enjoyed myself tremendously. We rented some clubs and got a large bucket of golf balls, then walked towards the driving range. The grounds were very simple, nothing fancy. I found it to be very relaxing to be out on a nice day and enjoy good company. As it got dark, I needed the lights to come on and they didnt smh. Thanks to the reviews on Yelp I have visted her twice last week and have enjoyed myself. The staff was great, I explained to them it was my first time there and they told me how to use the coin for the bucket of balls. I love that it's outdoors and you can hit your ball towards the markers to give you an idea of your range. And it's so beautiful! The greenery, the birds, and the planes (which I love) flying above. There is even a lake nearby. The bathroom could use some work but that's OK and the refreshments are nice and cold. This is my new driving range place (no more Randall's Island) and it's only 20 mins from Harlem! read more
