first time at this 9hole course and I was having fun until the 7th hole where the Starter/Ranger (Vincent) drove in the middle of the fairway and started hitting balls he placed on the ground including my ball, that I hit. I yelled and he ignored me. When I walked to where my ball was it was missing. I called the office to report what transpired, and the starter returned. He had no remorse and said he didn't hear me when I yelled. He departed with no apologie. I called again and he returned and with a zip lock baggie full of balls and said which is my ball. At that moment I walked away and stopped playing. He was rude when he attempted to apologize. Later I spoke with the manager (Mr Burns) who was a gentleman, but he gave me every excuse. I told Mr Burns that I never saw a starter play while paying customers were playing the same hole. I told him it's insane. read more

It's been a long time since I've played the "Mosh". Played and worked there when it was 18 holes. Haven't been back since they started building the plant. Except for the first hole the rest were part of the original layout. Couldn't stop smiling all day as a flood of memories came back. Fairways in great shape and greens were fast and true. Great little 9 hole course deep in the Bronx. It's right near the 4 train subway stop which makes it very convenient for city dwellers like myself. I've been here a few times so far this summer for a 6pm tee time on a weekday after work. The course is well maintained and provides some decently challenging holes for beginner/intermediate golfers like myself. The staff is super friendly and helpful and have always worked with us when one of our group is running late or if we need to move tee times around etc. Not sure what some of these other reviewers were expecting when they give it 2 or 3 stars for not being challenging enough but, then again, this is golf which has a ton of weird elitists who think they're much better than they are and pretend that only the longest and toughest courses are good enough for them. Obviously, this is a shorter, 9 hole course and doesn't compare to the absolute best of the best courses on the east coast but you should already know that going in. This is a place to get a quick 9 holes in and is accessible for people who live in Manhattan and don't have cars like me. For what it actually is, it's great. read more

Love this course and it's well maintained! Been here twice now (partial to the first visit cause I scored lower lol) Docking 1 star because the starter didn't know what I breakfast ball was...'tis in every golfer's dictionary. And my playing partners gave me the thumbs up. (Ooop..forgot to mention that we went out before our tee time too, so there wasn't a rush or we weren't slowing pace). Lots of people scoff at nine hole golf courses but give Mosholu a chance as it has a lot of offer. If you need to practice, there's a driving range and putting green as well as instruction for adults and kids if they're looking to get into the game. The course isn't very long as it maxes out at just over 2000 yards with no par fives, but is fairly well maintained and can require precise shots in some spots. It's a great place to go with others who don't play frequently as well as anyone who wants to get in a quick round instead of spending five hours on the course. Clubhouse has decent supplies although I don't recall what food was available. There is a room of vending machines offering a variety of snacks. Also be prepared to pay for parking. read more

Words cannot express how nice the staff and the game of golf is at the Mosholu Golf course. I'm a newbie to the game and just came to try something different with my mom. Claudio was superb from start to finish, beginning with the call ahead of time to answer all my many questions. Being a beginner we were willing to learn on our own, but Claudio not only took the time out to teach us a few things; he also offered us a variety of clubs to make sure we had what we needed and introduced us to golfers that further instructed us. Claudio made all the difference in how much we enjoyed our game and the getting our form. Special shout-out to all the other workers there (Kevin & the guys) who were all super nice and supportive of newbies. We can't wait to come back and be regulars. read more

Not the best kept course in the state of New York by a long shot but very reasonable to play this 9 hole course. After 3pm it was only $18 per person for our 4 ball with 2 carts. Friendly staff and very relaxed vibe made for a great golf day with friends. Decent amenities but don't expect the frills like a high end club house. Great for beginners and intermediates. read more

As the previous reviewers have pointed out, its a 9holer. But the course is interesting. 1st hole is a blind tee shot up a hill, to a green that drops dramatically from 200 yards out. hole 2 is a par 3 that, when from the blue tees, is a tough shot, a big draw into a back to front sloping green. ( I will leave the hole by hole reviews alone for now) Greens are not very good, but there is a putting green for practice and a driving range, which I think is great. Almost every other public course, doesn't have a range. I highly recommend new players to get your feet wet in golf (rules-pace-play) at this course, before going to an 18 hole course. The cafeteria is all your gonna need, a cute little pro-shop and very friendly staffers. So, if you play this course, dont compare it to a championship track. Nice staff & a fair course to play. Somewhat of a hilly course with slow greens...putts need to be firm. Pace is slower as course played by many people likely due to price point. Finished 9 holes in 2.5 hours. Tee boxes & a few greens need/under repair but I'd play again. Decent course & play is fair as long as you have reasonable expectations coming in. I have been playing at this course for over ten years now and have yet to have a bad experience here. Sure there are days when you have that occasional group ahead of you moving like snails but that happens everywhere you go. The course is well maintained and the service you receive from everyone in the offices is above average. This course although it may be 9 holes, is a hidden gem in the North Bronx area. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a course to get some good practice in especially with your irons. read more

Cute little golf course, only 9 holes, but very thin and narrow. The green isn't that great, their holes aren't super clean, and you can tell some people destroyed the grass and didn't patch it back up. But many kids at the driving range and out with their parents playing holes. Some kids are really good though, I had one girl who was 11 join us and she I swear is the next Tiger Woods and making par and it was her first time out there playing a whole course! The bathroom is clean in the place, and there are also lockers inside. The cafeteria food was good, typical hot dog chicken finger place, but the lady (I think her name was Tara) was extremely kind and made sure we got everything we needed. Don't forget her tip box! And I bought a Groupon for this place, 18 holes they said, so I'm thinking 18 holes, but it was 9 holes repeated. Groupon you tricked me! For a public nine-hole course, not bad. Not bad at all. It seemed pretty well maintained, and the greens were all in solid condition. I went for a twilight special, so it was not even too crowded. The group ahead of us was slow, but not to the point of ruining the experience. Better condition than Van Cortlandt. It's pretty short so you don't even really need a cart. For someone who is really great this might be a bit too easy but was a nice ego boost for me, at times. Price is reasonable as well. read more

BUT....it's a BIG BUT (and I can not lie).... the pace of play was horrendous on a weekend morning. By 930am they were already 30 mins behind. In two hours we finished 6 holes. Nice course, in GREAT condition, friendly staff. Easy access from 4 train to Manhattan. Family friendly, lots of junior program. Played 9 hole in a little over two hours, don't find that with public golf courses. Belly reward program was nice they are looking to retain customers by giving back. Makes sure you say hi to Ralph "Shorts" the starter, a real Bronx character, Good Guy. Sandwedge Grill was very nice good food and value. Overall a very nice day I will go back often. read more

I used to come here once a week for their twilight specials so I know this course well. Nothing really stands out except maybe for one elevated tee. You knew you're on a public course when you play here. My best shot was on the second hole, got it withing 2 feet of the cup. Then it started to rain. It's a really low key place, no rangers on your back. You just come out and play. read more

The worst service I have ever received. I took a chip from the grass onto the 9th hole after my round when nobody was playing and a guy came out and immediately was disrespectful to me. He started yelling and banned me from the course. And even before that, I was looking around in the pro shop for some putters because the light was on and the door was open but nobody was inside. As I was trying out a putter a man walked in and immediately started being disrespectful saying "why are you guys inside the pro shop when it's closed! U cannot just walk in whenever you want!" (In a raised voice). Meanwhile, another pro shop worker walked in before him while we were in there and didn't say anything to us. Not really a golf course at all but more of a very short par three and four course. Be prepared to hit off a mat on some holes. There is a very well-tended practice green, probably the nicest around, and a small range that uses short-distance golf balls. read more

The course has definitely turned around in the last few years! I think it was Jose, worked for the course doing ground repairs, and would have no problem stopping his cart, tee the ball up and hit right on top of you! Glad he gone Be forewarned about the course, temporary greens on a few holes. Anyone who says 29 dollars for 9 holes is a great deal plus parking 32.50, just go to any public course in Yonkers where 35 dollars for 18 holes. They are charging weekend rates to include Friday's now!! You wont see this advertised on their website! Its a good course to bring kids, high school students, and anyone who is starting playing. A group of us went up to Mosholu this past weekend and everyone was very impressed by the course which is really very pretty and serene for being so close to the city. As beginners, we really appreciated the driving range and practice areas, and the shorter par-3 holes were good confidence builders. There are some interesting par-4's as well but honestly it was all challenging for us. My only other golf course experience was at a very fancy private club (company event), and having seen the other end of the spectrum, I think Mosholu is great for an easily accessible option. Course is short enough that most people are walking and the holes all end right at the beginning of the next one. Very chill vibe, we had a ton of fun despite being terrible! Would definitely recommend for beginning/intermediate players. read more

Possibly one of the most poorly managed courses in the try-state area, epitomizing the waste of government employees. There is no management at the course - of the driving range or of the course-- no one is managing when people tee off or the pace of play on the course There is typically one 100 year old ranger and he doesn't do anything-- he isn't watching to make sure the players are moving. You have to call to get a ranger to come out- unlike for example Sterling in Stamford, where multiple rangers make sure people are moving and not holding up gaggles of players. Here you can wait 10 minutes to tee off between holes as people just putz around. It full of bad golfers run amok-- no one cares abut the pace of play or the rules. and the sand traps are infested with bees and nothing was done about it. I've had to walk off 2x because of excruciatingly slow players ahead of me. read more
