While this place is conveniently located on Route 1 in Laurel, with lots of shopping available the people working here are interesting. I came in too early for my appointment and I was greeted politely and with a chuckled explained my appointment was in 45 minutes. I was given a pre test. As I sat in the little hallway two other people came into the establishment. Each walked by me without as much as a simple "good morning". I'm very appreciative of the gentleman that helped me this morning, he is always friendly, polite and helpful. I'm having a horrible experience, I ordered glasses for the first time with VisionWorks on 12/31/25. The initial visit was hectic due to the last day of the year benefits rush. As an optical manager myself, I have such a problem since I'm still waiting on 1 pair of glasses almost 5 months later! The frame was needing to be sent out, that never happened and now I'm out of a pair of glasses. I've been more than patient, however now I'm being told the manager is no longer in office. I ordered glasses from this location on the 14th of December 2025 and used my insurance to purchase them. I was promised my glasses would be delivered by December 29, 2025. As of today, January 16, 2026, I have not received my glasses. I have called the store on multiple occasions and even visited the store twice to inquire about them. Each time I get the run around. Seven days ago, I finally got in touch with the person who placed my order. He said that they were out of the frames, but they had just received them. He promised that he'd expedite my order...that was 7 days ago. I checked the status today and still no change. This place is very unprofessional. Went in months prior to my exam to find the frame I wanted. A week after my exam, I was told my frames had been broken and that I had to choose a new frame. They will not order the frame you want, even if it's on the Visionworks website. If it's not in store, you're out of luck. January 2023, I still have to wait weeks for my refund just to get the frames I chose in August 2022, even though there're available online. That kind of ignorance is just irritating, unnecessary, lazy, and frankly, illogical. The eye examiner did his job well, but, I do not recommend this place. read more

Can't get a hold of a person. I need to order new equipment but after days of calling, the automatic prompt system just never lets me through to a human. It's almost hilarious, if it wasn't so infuriating. I called the store's listed phone number. I get the automated prompt. I ask for speak to a representative. It says yes, but first answer these thirty questions. Then it gives me the number to the store. The literal number I called to start this "conversation". And no amount of repeating "speak to a person" ever gets anywhere. Not on weekdays. Not on weekends. Not in the morning. Not in the afternoon. I've been going to this store since 2018. I'm never going back. So frustrating. Literally trying to spend money. read more

I would have liked to know prior to the appointment that it was a virtual visit with the doctor - however, they explained that this was not the norm but since it was a holiday week the doctor was working remotely. I agreed to continue with the eye exam. The technician was competent and friendly - however, they were double booked so he had to keep leaving my exam to assist with other patients. I stated that I was not shopping for glasses today - I just wanted my prescription because I was short on time. I stated this several times. At the end of the visit - I said I would come back during the weekend to shop for glasses. I paid, they put my paperwork in an envelope and sent me on my way. Once I opened the envelope my prescription was not inside - it was just a receipt of my bill! I called them back, and they said "oh, we just forgot - but since you're coming back we'll just hold it until you return." WTAF!!! I already told you what I wanted "my prescription", I told you what I planned to do "come back on the weekend"...what is not going to happen is you manipulating me and keeping my medical records from me so you can get a sale. They would not email me my prescription so I had to change my plans - drive back and pick up my paperwork. When I arrived no one was at the front desk- they left an envelope on the desk with my name on it and no one there to offer an apology. We had bought their insurance policy and we had to come get my son's glasses repaired after he sat on them. He popped out the lenses and put them in a new frame in less then 5 minutes!!! Here is not the place you want to visit. The guys here are rude and very unprofessional. I made a appointment online and arrived 10 min before the appointment. The one sitting behind the table is really impatient (i would say kind of rude). She did not even say anything to me after i told her i have an appointment. I wait in the store for 30 min without anyone talking to me. I did not even get checked in. After this 30 min waiting, the women just told me very impatiently "you can wait or reschedule" without any explanation on what's happening. She then refuse to speak a single word. We've frequented this Visionworks for a few years. Not anymore. I've been confirming appointments for my family for 3 weeks now, and when we got to the store we were told we did not have appointments. I received a text for each of the appointments just this morning. Supposedly they had left a voicemail (that I didn't receive) and because I didn't call back they canceled the appointments. So how was I receiving texts to confirm as late as yesterday and texts reminding me of the appointments this morning. We'll be finding a new eye doctor and won't be using any Visionworks ever again. First I walk in and the employees are yelling across the room talking to each other cool. There is a young women and a young man at the counter, nobody greeted me, nobody said anything it wasn't until a young women in the back greeted me that now I was spoken too. I get checked in and get my paperwork to fill out cool, I'm called in the back by a women with long nails who didn't say anything more then have a seat, put your chin here and then sprayed at least that's what it felt like something in my eyes, never said what she was doing or anything. The only nice person in that office who explained what they were doing was the eye doctor, I mean if you don't want to come to work and be professional then stay home, there are plenty of unemployed people who would have done a better job of greeting customers I'm sure of it. read more

We went to this establishment to look for glasses and to ask questions about our options in picking eyewear. We were met by an abrasive female staff member sitting behind the desk. It was about 5:30 pm today. She may have been having a bad day, or was tired of working and in "I hate the customer mode". She abrasively told us to sign in and use hand sanitizer on a table. There was a sign on the wall that states, "you can get a second non prescription glasses"; as they usually offer two glasses deal, both prescription. We asked about this offer. This staff member at the desk rudely answered, "what else would you get here". But there is a sign on the wall in the store that clearly states one glasses can be non prescription, and we were considering prescription sun glasses as well. I don't know what kind of day she has had; good or bad, we had nothing to do with it, so why take it out on us? A male staff member asked if we would like to look around, but we said no we will come back later. We will not, because I do not do business with people who disrespect me for no reason. I hate to give this place 2 stars because I have gotten good service from the ladies in the front. Granted they arent overly friendly or enthusiastic, just OK. My low score is mainly for the doctor. I dont even remember his name because he was so short and curt. He didnt explain how my vision had changed from my last eye exam. He just had his head down in the computer. I asked questions about getting contacts or ortho K etc and his answers were short and not descriptive. "No youre not a good candidate for contacts." oooookay. "can u explain why?" "You just arent..." ????? The lenses he was showing me during my exam still made my vision blurry. He told me I would have to see a Opthomologist (the MD Eye doctor) but didnt explain why. The entire time I was ordering my glasses the associate was talking to her friend across the store about some party she was having that she wasn't invited too. She also kept stopping and staring out the window at an accident that had happened. I was so frustrated when I left I decided to go back and cancel my order. I love Laurel Visionworks! I have been going there for about five years. I moved to Baltimore and still travel there for my exams. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Doctor explains everything to me as it's being done. Also gives me advice on what to use for my contacts and he lets me know when I need to take a break from them. read more

It's one of those visit where you felt comfortable. My eye appointment was quick but decision for getting my frame probably took up more time as I couldn't decide on what to wear or what looks good. Jermaine the Assistant Manager at the store came over as he knew I couldn't decide. We sat down and review my options, he asked me to pick my top 3 frames that I like. This is when I noted that his customer service were important to him. At the end we decided to get inexpensive but suitable frame for myself. He further follow up on when my frame will be ready. I had a different experience from the other reviewer, but this could be because I came in for a different issue. I had an ongoing eye infection for three weeks. I needed to see someone on a Saturday. This Hour Eyes opens an hour earlier than a lot of places do on Saturdays (9am rather than 10am) and I was able to quickly get an appointment. The doctor quickly confirmed that I had an eye infection, gave me a prescription for eye drops, and had me schedule a follow up. So, I am grateful to have a place this close to my house that has such good hours. The Pearle Vision across the street didn't have a doctor in until Monday. The only downside is that this place doesn't take my insurance and so I have to submit the receipt for a reimbursement. read more

The customer should have turned around and walked out! I would rather not give my money to such a company. Keep in mind we are both over 18. So we called about a week and a half ago finding this out and they said that they would re order them and had them make an appointment for today. I negotiate a price with the manager for frames and the next day when I went back he would not honor the price. If a man's word is not good then you don't want do business with this place. I brought a new eyeglass prescription here to pick out frames, not wanting to spend an exorbitant amount of money. If my past actions are any prediction of my future actions, there's a good chance I'll step on these at some point. Hour Eyes had a good selection of frames but I quickly found that the ones readily available to try on were not going to work out for me and I had to move to the glass cases. That got kind of annoying since I wanted to try a lot on and had to have the girl hand me each pair. Plus, is it really necessary to have brands Candies and Jones New York behind a glass case? It's not like I'm trying to buy a pair of Armani glasses or anything. I finally found a pair in the Guess section and got a call 8 days later that they were ready for pick up. I asked the girl at the counter to adjust them so they fit right on my face. She obviously had no idea what she was doing, at first bending the glasses from the middle before her manager came over to bend the glasses from the arms. They didn't spend much time at all trying to make sure the glasses fit on me and since I was in a rush, I didn't pay much attention, assuming they were now fine. My bad. Here I am, sitting at my desk, wearing crooked glasses. Guess I'll be making another trip to Hour Eyes, hopefully this time they can get it right. read more
