Third chance I gave this business, foolish me I guess. Every year it's something. Last minutes changes, long waits, repeated and egregious lack of communication. This year I felt hopeful. Despite switching my appointment last minute (one hour notice) to a remote visit because of the doctor's illness, the customer service was very good. I specifically noted that I had not been notified my contacts were in the previous year and she promised to contact me. A month after my appointment, I check the website. It says my contacts are not in and to give them more time. Finally I call the office. They take a full 24 hours to get back to me to let me know they are in. I pick them up and the bag is dated as arriving one week after my appointment and lists "first patient notification" for the same day. Nope. And no apology or acknowledgment of this ridiculous oversight and poor service. read more

This was the strangest experience I have had at an eye doctor, mainly because the entire appointment was virtual. I did not see a doctor except on a monitor online. The machine that measures the prescription was all automated. When I went to check out, the level of upselling and pushiness of the sales people in the office was a total turnoff and took a lot of time. It was almost like they wouldn't let me check out until they had a chance to offer me all these other options to purchase. I had to tell them firmly to stop, and that I was just going to buy the contact lenses that I needed. In addition, the doctor (virtually on the screen) referred me to an ophthalmologist due to a concern she had with my exam. I went to see an ophthalmologist elsewhere soon afterwards based on that referral, and the ophthalmologist could not even tell what the "MyEyeDr" doctor was concerned about - in other words there was no reason for the referral and no issue. read more

Don't go to this clinic. They had my eye exam virtually; the one who examined was a certain Dr Patel or something. The staff not so good. Don't go to this place. Go and find the book of Dr Bates and his method. By the way, My Eye Dr Laurel sent me this text message to instill fear in me and clients: "Did you know: of the estimated 93 million US adults at high risk for vision loss, only half visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months. Regular eye care can have a life-changing impact on preserving the vision of millions of people." These people and in the US healthcare system in general are driven by profit. Remember that: profit. Most eye problems are caused by stress and the type of food we eat. Buy physiology textbook and study the eye, the brain and our body. These so called eye doctors and doctors in general only treat symptoms, not the cause. read more

I scheduled an eye exam for both glasses and lenses. I asked what the cost was when they called to confirm my eye exam. I was quoted at $10 copay with my insurance, and a $44 image fee. I arrived and had my exam performed and they hand me a bill for $177. Apparently there was an additional exam performed called "New Toric Fit". An increase in price was not discussed. I was not given a chance to accept or deny an additional ~$120 exam. It was just performed. I am in a privileged position where getting a bill for 400% what I was quoted is not a big deal, but many people are not in such a place. The customer service was great. But it certainly feels like I was the victim of a bait and switch scam, and I am not happy with a surprise bill 4 times what I was quoted. At the time of purchase the sales associate informed me My Eye Doctor would notify me when the eye glasses were delivered and ready for pickup estimated 14-days. On 8/25, I called to check on the status of my glasses delivery, because I had not received any information from My Eye Doctor. The sales associate informed me the glasses were delivered and ready for pickup. The office staff informed me the glasses had been delivered and were ready for pickup since 8/12. I received no notification text messages, or calls from the office regarding my order being ready for pickup. My glasses were sitting there for 13 days ready for pickup. DO NOT rely on My Eye Doctor automated text notification service, or the My Eye Doctor staff to contact you regarding your order status. read more

I've been going here for years!! So much so I travel 22miles just to get to this location. The staff is always nice and friendly. They tend to your needs. The have a nice glasses selection. They have good deals if you don't have insurance. Even if you have insurance they will work with. I love the fact you can schedule appointments online. The office hours is accommodating to me. I love they have late hours and weekends. I like the new edition with the drs being virtual but able to see you and give Rx. My recent experience was nothing less than amazing!!! Made an appointment online and showed up at my appointment time. Waited at least 20 minutes to be seen after that. Once I was seen I only did the a few tests for about 2 minutes then back out to the waiting room for another 15 minutes of waiting. Finally got seated in the actual eye doctor's office only to do a few tests and wait another 15 for the virtual doctor to come online and talk to me for about 2 minutes. If I did not have to spend so much time waiting, I would have been in and out in 10 minutes. But instead, I was there for over an hour. i don't really understand the point of having these doctors be virtual if they take their sweet time showing up to appointment. After how long I waited I just wanted to leave. But already had a pair of glasses picked out ahead of time with all my time spend waiting. I let one of their workers know which pair of glasses I was interested in. The person that helped me out did not give me any sort of price breakdown at all. I could have paid a lot less once I looked at the receipt since he automatically just added on all these special features to the glasses that I did not ask for. Usually, they take measurements as well to make sure that your glasses will fit you right. Nothing of those sorts occurred. Definitely the worst experience at an eye doctor. Loong and short. Read the finest of the print. Went in, visit was mostly fine, they did their little upsell on fancy imaging and blah blah blah, I fell for it. They also don't actually have a Dr. on site most days, but I tried their remote vision test. Totally fine, I guess. They gave their spiel on how my glasses would be totally covered by my insurance (except the lenses of course, which would come out to only $296.00). . . All of that is fine, I'm a sucker, until I get an after the fact charge for an additional $22.00 two months later. Why? Because essentially their numbers are made up and they don't actually know how much or what they're charging you until weeks later, after they've actually contacted your insurance. It's the principle of things. . . . Plus, while I'm on a roll, their glasses are trash. I have literal $39.00 glasses with more comfortable nose guards and the first week I wore my new glasses not only did they scratch my nose, but also my forehead. I located a unique tortoise shell pair from Marie Claire and he helped process my order over the phone. The glasses were also ready in a week which was awesome, I got a text message and was able to pick them up that afternoon. Glenn adjusted the frames for me and I was ready to go! The eye exam was fine, and the doctor was good. I was told I would have my glasses by two weeks, but probably in a week. However, it's been over a month and I still do not have my glasses. I went there with complaints of eye strain, which is on going. No one at the location seems to know what's happening with my glasses, they just act surprised that my glasses are 'in process' still. There have been promises to call me back - with no callback. I called the corporate patient realtions line and eventually got a person, this was July 1. At that time, I was told I would get a partial refund and the glasses would be ready July 9. It's July 10, no glasses, they are still 'in process' and I have promise to get a call back from the manager. I can't understand a medical organization treating their patients this way. I will recommend many family members to come and be seen. I would give zero stars if it were an option. I dropped off Ralph Lauren glasses and they were stolen by the establishment. I went to the store to pick up my glasses and they were no where to be found and no one had answers. I was told by management that I can pick out a new pair but I was upset about my glasses being stolen and told him I needed to come back. He assured me it was ok and he would notate my account. I am now following up and the sales associate Bree was taking care of gathering options and discussing it with the manager. When I called Bree back she said there is nothing she can do, that I have to buy a new pair of glasses because there are no notes on my account of the incident. As I begin to share my frustration and disappointment with her lack of options she began LAUGHING on the phone hysterically! I asked to speak to a manager, she said no and asked me what is she going to do for you? I continued asking and she said she was busy. Then I told her I will wait and she refused to transfer me. Finally she puts me on hold and I speak with Sandra the manager who took care of the situation the same exact way the previous manager suggested the first time around. My dog got ahold of my glasses and ate my nose pieces off so I needed new ones. Luckily this place is just a few blocks right away. Was greeted upon entering and they went right to work fixing up my glasses. Very clean new facility. Staff was very friendly. Didn't pressure me to try and schedule an appointment or anything. Frames came out with new nose pads. Most places in my past experiences would charge $10-$15 to replace the nose pads and for the re-adjustment. My Eye Doctor to my surprise didn't charge a dime. I was so impressed I am going to use them for my future eyecare needs! This particular location doesn't service Davis Vision insurance plans but the one in Columbia Maryland does. read more

UPDATE 9/14 the OTHER SIDE OF MY FRAME BROKE. My experience in the office was great.... UNTIL my glasses broke ONE MONTH later. I purchased the the insurance policy which is good for a year. I surely thought when buying it, I wouldn't even need it but just for security ($25 or so dollars) why not? My last pair of frames, I still have. The frames before that I kept for 7 YEARS! Seven years.... I'm not hard on glasses. I refused to use my insurance policy at MyEyeDr. And I went down to "Quick Fix" to pay $47 for a 15 min repair. I'll cash in my insurance policy down the road when the other side breaks! Lastly, my frame was discontinued. Maybe because they are poorly made?? I won't be coming back here. Even though I bought a 6 month supply of contacts, new frames with lenses, and an extra set of lenses for my OLD frames that are in perfect condition (from Lenses Crafters). Normally I don't get heated about "Policy's" but the man working the counter in the white button down, ear gauges, and the nasty, less than accommodating attitude is what made me write this review. Today was my first Visit here , Doctor Wang was such amazing and sweetest doctor I ever had! She answered all my question took her time with me and I just didn't feel like I was rushed! I wish I could give no stars because this is honestly the worst experience I've ever had going to an eyedr. I wear my glasses everyday for everyday purposes and when I initially called I spoke with the manager Corey Allen and he was so excited to get me in the same day to assist with my glasses issue. The store was empty and closing at the time so it was pretty easy picking out the glasses I wanted I even took a few pics just so I remember the ones I chose. 2 weeks later I get a message saying that there ready and it's not the glasses I asked for. I was disappointed but he acknowledged his error and I gave him the correct glasses to send in and I ended up getting another notification of them being ready and it was the same pair! I asked him what's going on his excuse was it's only him working in the store and he don't know how it became the same pair but at this point it's been a month and I need a pair of glasses so I told him to put the right ones in and when those are ready I'll exchange the ones I'm stuck with due to his mistakes for the correct pair. Now the prescription in the ones he gave me were completely off but it was better then nothing. Weeks go by and I reach out to check on the status of the other pair and he says they're not ready and all of this is 30 days later. So I keep calling to check the status he'll put me on hold and literally never came back to the phone and I call back 5+ times and he never answers. When I called from my husbands phone I got him on the phone for him to tell me other orders are prioritized over mine after I've been waiting for my glasses I paid for, for months now. This process was started in January 2023 it's damn near JUNE FIRST! When I come in the office because it's been 2-3 months since I heard anything from Corey I find out their ready but WHY WHERE THEY THE SAME GLASSES I SAID WERE WRONG I asked for a refund finally and he decides to be very rude about it saying "hmm let's see what that looks like. Then he goes on to saying I don't get a refund for whatever reason but I told him I need a receipt stating he received the eyeware I was returning so I can get proper assistance from another location then he says "I don't get one" don't waste your time and money at this place it's a shit show! If you have the option go to another location, PLEASE DO. I've never felt more disrespected in an establishment. Maybe they should look into a change in management perhaps a high school student, that would be a better fit then Corey Allen. read more

I went for an appointment, when I arrived they didn't have me listed. They suggested I may have called a different location. Using my call directory I redialed and I had the correct one. The mgr spoke to the Dr who said she would see me. He also told me he would make it up to me because of the confusion. My 515 pm ended up being 630 pm. Edit: Below was my review after my issue with MyEyeDr. I received a call from customer service to notify me that they were going to write off the bill because miscommunication was not on my part. As a result, I am moving my rating from 1 to 5 star. As mentioned in my review at the bottom, I have never had a bad experience with MyEyeDr in the past and have ever only used them for my vision needs. However, considering that the company made amends so fast and worked towards finding out what caused the problem, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Furthermore, I wish more companies were responsive like MyEyeDr in finding a workable solution when errors occur. ================================================================== I have only used myEyeDr for my vision needs (usually glasses and sometimes contact lenses) and have had a positive experience every time until the past visit at the location in Laurel. It was my first time visiting this location, so maybe it's just the ethics at this location. However, I received a final payment notice for something that the store told me they confirmed with my insurance would be covered. Which after I spoke with my insurance company is COMPLETELY unethical on the part of this store. In July, I needed contact lenses last minute for my wedding. I planned to only get a small supply, maybe for a month if that was possible. So I visited the store, told them of my intention and the fact that I wasn't sure how much my insurance was going to cover. I received a call from the store a few hours later saying that my insurance was covering more than my plan allows and I could get an eye exam and 6 month supply for 170 dollars or so (with insurance covering the rest). I was ecstatic and I agreed. Fast forward to last weekend and I receive a bill for 360 dollars which states that my insurance company refused to cover it. I called my insurance company and explained the situation to them and asked why they gave false information to myeye dr. They read the notes from their conversation with a Zach from the Laurel store where they told him how much they were covering. However, for some reason the store calls me and blatantly lies by saying the insurance company agreed to cover more. It's completely reasonable if miscommunications occur, but you don't screw over the customer by either inducing a sale on a false premise or charge the customer a lower amount in store due to false or unverified information (but telling the customer that information was verified) and then sending a large bill 6 months later. if the information was truly verified by my insurance company, then I would have been asked to pay a larger amount at the store ( at which point I would have likely declined based on what I told them). Now I just have unused contact lenses just sitting there for no reason. I have had better experience at other locations but after this experience, I will no longer be trusting MyEyeDr for anything. However, I do recommend to AVOID THIS LOCATION AS THEY MAY GIVE YOU FALSE INFORMATION ONLY TO BILL YOU LATER. read more

This review is only for a follow up visit: Yay!! I got my free sunglasses! after having written a review and questioned whether I could still redeem the check in offer the store manager replied to my yelp review and said to go ahead and pick it up :-) (of course the manager said this in a much more elegant way) I stepped into the store (Note, the door is a little difficult to open.. and the store looks closed from the outside due to sun glare but it really is open at the listed hours) and was greeted by a few ladies. Because the store manager had arranged them to allow me to pick up a pair of sunglasses they knew to expect me and apparently all had read my review. I was a little taken aback since I did voice some disappointments (first time truly ever pinpointed by the store for my yelp review) and they did mention the content of my review but they said they were appreciative of the honest review. They still treated me the same (kind and professional) and my worries disappeared. I picked one pair out of hundreds and they graciously cleaned them and gave me more spray/cloth/case for my new pair of sunglasses. These people are very nice, sweet, helpful, and professional. I can't say enough for now great the service is here. My only gripe is the cost (as they are well aware of), but with that I'll have to do my own cost comparison sheet in the future. Service at Costco is great too so I'll have to think about this a little more a year from now when I get my eyes checked again. :-) read more

Went back since my visit in 2015 the optometrist left me hanging with the incorrect prescription. I explained to her that it's hard to determine, but she gave me the generic answers, prescribed my contacts and sent me on my way. The previous optometrist that was there was much more personable to my needs. Also, this was in mid-January, it's now mid-February and I still do not have my order/lenses. Received a reminder post card for my annual eye exam and called and was able to quickly and easily make an appointment that fit my schedule. Arrived and while filling out paperwork I was called back for my exam. Everyone who assisted me was very courteous and professional. After my exam was completed I was assisted in completing my purchase. I only went in for contacts which I'm waiting to pick up. They have a very nice selection of glasses to choose from if you are getting glasses. The visit went quicker than expected which is always a good thing. While the staff were very friendly, the young lady who checked me in LACKS attention to detail. When I arrived, I submitted my driver's license and insurance card. After my eye exam another person reviewed paperwork outlining the insurance coverage. The employer that was mentioned was not mine and I repeatedly told him this. Turns out the young lady had pulled the wrong information. While I did not see the paperwork, I know that at least the DOB and address did not match mine. This could have easily been avoided if the girl paid close attention. Lastly, I did not get any indication, either verbally or in writing , of my vision prescription. Now I'm wondering if I actually need prescription glasses or if readers would have been sufficient. Other than picking up my glasses when they arrive, I will likely not return. read more

This office is AWFUL, so I give it 1 star. I would give it -5 stars if I could. Do not visit this place under any circumstances. If it's an emergency, pay a billion dollars to uber somewhere else if you're going blind. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone while I was in this office. All sense of reality seems to have escaped their 4 walls. The staff are unprofessional, the doctor is extremely rude and they'll try to force you to buy contacts or glasses before you leave their office. After my very strange exam with their rude doctor who seemed to be perturbed the entire time I was in his office, and seemed offended when I didn't want to step out to the shopping area to try on contact lenses. He had a mirror in his office, so why would I want to leave to go out into the open area to try on a prescription for him to examine? He threw his arms up and said "OK, FINE" and walked out when I said I would wait in the room for him to return. Turns out, he didn't have the script I needed, so they had to order a trial pair for me. Once I was in the open area, they tried to force me to order contacts that day. The optometrist told me that once I stepped foot outside their doors, my insurance wouldn't cover any contacts I purchased on my own from a third party, which I knew to be 100% false. Basically if I left their office without buying anything, I would be screwed. He made it seem like a life or death situation. He kept telling me he was "trying to help me" and that I was wrong. I've been wearing contacts for 8+ years and I've never experienced the badgering to buy from an optometrist's office the way I did at My Eye Dr. in Laurel. I argued with the man for 15-20 minutes about insurance and told him numerous times that I was not going to order any contacts from their office. He continued to tell me that "I was making a big mistake" and when I asked for my script and to please leave, they said they legally couldn't give it to me because they had to order a trial pair and have me try it on in front of a doctor to confirm the fit. Ok, sure....yet they were trying to get me to buy a year or "even just a few months" of a script they couldn't legally let me walk out of their office with. When I expressed my dissatisfaction in a calm and respectful manner, they told me they "didn't need my money" and that I didn't have to visit again. As someone who has worked in customer service, this office is a disgrace. No one cares about the patients it seems, from my 1 hour visit there. Had a great experience with Dr. Helena. She was very patient & answered all my questions. All the ladies that work there were also extremely nice & professional. If I only had to deal with them I would have given 5 stars all day. I'm torn because i want to give more stars because my experience was amazing with the exception of my final interaction. Unfortunately I had to deal with one of sales people a bald gentleman with glasses and he was horrible. Dealing with him gave me anxiety. He kept trying to pressure me into buying more when I was very clear regarding what I wanted. Trying to push me to buy glasses and trying to highlight the discount I would receive. Now I understand that sales associates will try to up sell as that is a part of their job. If a customer says no and has explained their reason, respect their decision DO NOT CONTINUE TO PRESSURE THEM & MAKE THEM FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. I kept asking for a breakdown of price per box and he kept dancing around the question. Continuing to advise me that buying more is in my best interest. Towards the end of the interaction I completely tuned out and just wanted the whole process to come to an end. I came there with every intention of buying at least a 6 month to year supply of contacts. My interaction with the gentleman was so uncomfortable I just ended up getting a 3 month supply. If he would have just answered my questions instead of creating a high pressure sales environment I would have been more comfortable in turn making it possible for me to actually ask questions & make the best decision for myself.
