My glasses and my backup pair of glasses broke within a day of each other. I went to The Eye Center, Shady Grove Road, and Dr. Fu examined me and gave me a new prescription. I needed a new frame and lenses, plus new lenses in an old frame. I compared prices and Eyeland was a couple of hundred dollars less than the Eye Center. When my new glasses and lenses came there was a major problem. They were bifocals and the reading portion was unusable. I had to hold things a couple of inches from my face. Bob and Terry at Eyeland assured me that the lenses were made to my new prescription. I went back to the Eye Center. I was reexamined--turns out Dr. Fu had written the wrong number on my prescription. He gave me a strength of +3 and it should have been +2. He gave me a new prescription. I told him that I'd just spent over a thousand dollars on new glasses using his wrong prescription. He told me I should try to work out something with the eyeglass place. He was very pleasant, but he did not apologize nor take responsibility for his mistake. Fortunately for me, Eyeland didn't take the same attitude. Even though the mistake was Dr. Fu's and not theirs, Eyeland covered me for two sets of new lenses which came very quickly. Thanks entirely to Eyeland, I had new glasses and backups with the the right prescription. read more

I bought two pairs of eye glasses from here about a few years ago. I had an issue with my glasses because I accidentally stepped on them and the screw fell off. I figured maybe they will be able to repair it so I went by and dropped them off. I was in no rush getting them fixed but they told me they would call me the following business day when it got done so I had no problem on waiting. The following business day I got a call from them telling me my glasses were ready so I asked how much I owed and they said nothing! I asked why and they said well it took us a bit longer and we didn't feel right charging you. That's what you call a real business! I didn't even wait long when I told her but she said no worries and it's fine. I recommend everyone to visit this place if you consider going somewhere that offers quality in products and service. read more

They offered me a "great" deal on the whole package including exam, frames, lenses, and when I said I had to think about purchasing the whole package, the sales person and owner got really upset. They seemed to take it personally because I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend $500 on a pair of glasses. It probably was a good deal, but it was stressful because they actually got a bit hostile. They also wouldn't let me use the $20 for $50 yelp deal on the eye exam even though the terms of the deal didn't specify that and they said I could use the deal on the eye exam before I walked into the exam. I don't know if they were having a bad day, but they went from being friendly and helpful to hostile just because I wanted to think about their offer. It was very odd and left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

This is to inform ANYONE who goes to this store, EYELAND EYE CARE in Aspen Hill, MD., to expect the following: (1) Even with an appointment, you will not get served if someone else comes in who was "late" for their appointment, and gets "preferential treatment". (2) Expect the employees to follow you around the store as if you are under some "suspicion". (3) There will be NO privacy while discussing your particular "prescription" because the employees loudly announce what may be your diagnosis. I had a 2:15 appointment, however, a person was late for their appointment. The doctor clearly stated that they would have to "wait", and proceeded to take the next person who had an appointment. However, the employee placed the latecomer's card ahead of mine even though I was the next appointment. When I mentioned that I was next, the doctor looked at me, looked at the other person, and let the other person go inside the examination room!!! I looked at the employee, whose only response was, "I'm sorry". Since I seemed to be the only "civilized" one here, I simply walked out without further interaction. However, this is not the last step citizens of the "free world" can assert in order to not have such poor customer service accepted without recourse. I will proceed, further. I can only add that if you don't mind being mistreated, followed around this cubicle of a store, and don't mind having your business "shared" with a store full of people, by all means GO to this place (I felt so sorry for the elderly lady whose diagnosis was being loudly discussed, while she was also being "strong armed" to buy some glasses). However, if you would prefer better service, I suggest you take your business....and your "eyeballs", elsewhere!!!! read more

First time experience! I decided to visit this establishment for my eye exam after comparing eye exam deals on groupon, this one seemed most beneficial. I called before purchasing the deal and asked for an honest price range of most frames, given that the deal seemed too good to be true. The answer was upfront and honest delivered nicely and after consideration I decided to purchase the $39 eye exam deal that included $250 towards lenses and frames. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and arrived a bit early. There was practically no wait time, I filled out the necessary paperwork and was seen immediately. I received thorough help in choosing frames, more than what I have before, and was given honest feedback in regards to how various frames fit my face. I spent a bit more than I expected (~ $180) but it was well worth it for frames that would last (my last frames were from costco and broke within the year, they refused to fix them) as well as an upgraded lenses as mine require a very strong prescription. My glasses usually take up to 2 weeks but these were ready in less than 3 days. The optometrist said he didn't like the way the first lenses stuck out of the frames so sent them back for a better more expensive lenses at no additional charge to me. The final consultation was immediate and less than 4 mins. GREAT experience and I will be back. read more

This office truly knows how to cater to their clientele and they walk you through the whole process with lots of patience. They have excellent service when you call over the phone as well. I recently purchased an eye exam, a contact lens fitting, and a pair of glasses from Eyeland. I chose Eyeland because they are one of the few places that carries a particular brand of eyeglasses that I've been checking out. Service: 5 stars Bob(?) and Alicia(?) are very helpful and knowledgeable. Bob has a gruff demeanor, especially to Alicia at times, but he's very serious about getting the job done efficiently and correctly. He does not BS around and he gives great advice that's to the point. He may seem rushed, but he makes it easy to make the best decision regarding lens materials, coatings, and frame adjustments. He's clearly been doing this a long time and knows his stuff. Alicia has a great eye for style and fit. She was happy to spend as much time as I needed to try on dozens of frames and eventually order one they didn't have in stock. Convenience: 4.5 stars The office is open and appointments with the doctor are available on Saturdays and I was able to schedule an appointment with only a few days notice. Also the office is open fairly late by optometrist standards (7 PM weekdays). On my first visit I had my exam and contact lens fitting, picked out a frame online, and chose my lens materials/coatings. I asked them to not cut the lenses for the frame until I could try it on. They offered to give me store credit on another frame if I didn't like the fit of the one that was ordered. On my second visit I tried on the frame and they were able to cut the lenses quickly while I waited. The only strike against them is that I had to claim my eyeglasses insurance benefit on my own. Selection: 4 stars They have a pretty good selection of eyeglasses. The store isn't very big, but they are able to pack in quite a few frames. Most of the frames in stock are pretty conservative, and they all seem very high quality. Unfortunately, many of their frames look the same. Eye doctor: 4.5 stars Competent, pleasant experience. The doctor took plenty of time to explain the exam procedures and answer my questions. They didn't have the fanciest shiniest equipment around, but I have no complaints. No surprises here, which is good. Pricing: 3 stars They can never compete with the discount online eyeglass retailers, but with their service they shouldn't have to. That said, $350 for a contact lens fitting and 4 boxes that are available elsewhere for $25 each is pretty steep. I opted out of ordering contact lenses at Eyeland. The list price of frames and lenses is also quite high. I get the impression that Eyeland often has special pricing available to their customers depending on seasonal sales etc. I doubt it's a store policy, but thankfully they were willing to match the online price of the frame I ultimately purchased. read more

We went here on a Saturday afternoon, a time when most retail establishments are at their busiest. This was no exception at Eyeland. However, in spite of the crowds, we were greeted when we entered and received attentive service when we required it. It didn't take long at all to place the order and to pay. I was told the glasses would be ready by the following Wednesday. True to their word I received a call on Tuesday afternoon to let me know that they were ready. I picked them up on the Wednesday. The glasses were adjusted as needed to fit comfortably. Once again I received excellent customer service through the entire process. The frame selection was good and the prices competitive. I will definitely return to Eyeland for my next pair of glasses. read more

My spouse and I visited the Aspen Hill store on three occasions between eye exams and picking up glasses. All but one staff member was very professional and friendly. I was so distressed by this staff member's treatment of customers and fellow staff that I was going to report him to the owner. I was surprised to find out that staff member to be owner! My spouse opted to purchase new lenses for his existing glasses; no new frames, too expensive. I opted to buy my glasses elsewhere and saved over $100. read more

I just had the most surreal experience at Eyeland not sure where to begin. I had never heard of this place until Groupon sent out an offer for $29 - $225 discount off of any prescription glasses. So the owner/mgr was jovial when I went through the doors - his soft spoken assistant lurking in the background. He started pulling out the most expensive designer sunglasses trying to sell them to me. When I asked the price I was shocked to learn that even with the $225 discount they weighed in at over $300, for basically a few ounces of plastic! When I indicated I couldn't afford designer glasses and was there something more affordable his mood changed to one of disgust - he lamely pointed to the end of the store without looking at me -" down there are the cheap glasses". I had the place to myself and tried to fumble through the tons of messy, smudged "cheap" glasses at the end of the counter. A few more people came in so the mgr jumped up with the hope of unloading some of his overpriced inventory on a newbies. I was virtually ignored for 30 minutes. I chose three pairs, his eyes lit up when he saw the Armani frames I chose. I sat down and waited, now four people in the store with the phone ringing and no one even looking at me to see if they could help. Mgr continued to help the new people take calls while the young guy lurked. Finally after about ten minutes I asked if I could get some help (after all I had arrived 45 minute before any of these others). The lunk head assistant assisted with processing my order. He answered a few questions and then said so do you want to buy them" even though we had not yet crunched numbers. Slowly he revealed comparison prices. He asked what color lenses but when I asked to see samples they both seemed puzzled and annoyed . They grabbed a brown graduated pair and a black pair but didn't even tell me which one was which. The lenses in the glasses were neither color and they couldn't tell me what color they were "oh they look a little more rosy" at which point I revealed I prefer to look though rose colored glasses. It just got more annoying and strange with misinformation, over charging, the mgr talking about the transaction as tho I were not sitting right there so I could hear him saying he was not going to "give away the glasses" grabbing a look at the paperwork, his machine to measure the pupil distance did not work so they did it by hand,... all the way till I got up to leave assuming they were through with me, I had to ask when they would be ready, no indication that we were through so I say "Thank you". They reluctantly returned the thanks. Very weird. Let's hope my glasses will be ready in "about a week". I would caution new arrivals. read more

Avoid this place as much as possible please!!! I went there this afternoon to try and have my eyeglass frame fixed. The man on the counter paid me no attention and was on the telephone paying his bills. After a few minutes he noticed me standing there and said "Can I help you?" I asked if they did repairs. He said "Yes but I'm on the phone I'm gonna need 10 minutes." The store was completely empty. Mind you, I was carrying my sleeping baby. It sounded like I was an inconvenience to him instead of a possible customer. After that reply, I just walked right out and took my business to some other place. The glasses were ready in 3 days and were done exactly right, not like other cheap deal places where I had to return for correct fit and lenses. There are a few good reviews and a few bad but they shouldn't be hidden when they express the TRUTH. My wife and I have been customers for around 20 years. Bob B the owner goes out of his way to make sure our frames and lens work properly even if the lens have to be re ground. If there is a problem with our glasses, he fixes them at no charge. He carries a good variety of stylish frames. This not Wal Mart or For Eyes, he specializes in designer frames and top quality lenses and the prices reflect this. You get what you pay for! He honors his coupons which are good towards the price of the frame and lens. He does sell inexpensive glasses as well but I have learned that cheap glasses don't do the job especially if your Rx is strong. read more

They immediately helped me pick out multiple frames and gave me their honest opinion of each one. The staff didn't treat me like a random person, but more like their friend. I was overcharged and talked to them twice about it. I called my insurance who called them and inquired about my service. According to my insurance company the company agreed to reimburse me $161.00 on 26 Jan 2012 so far I have not seen the reimbursement. I have been wearing glasses over 50 years and in all that time I have never had a problem being overcharged. In addition to this asking for a fitting was a big imposition for them. They did adjust the glasses but just so it was close. They just did not seem to care if they were fitted right or not. Now I constantly need to adjust my glasses because they fall out of position for me to see out of the right lens properly. Finally I have a latex allergy they were painting in the office and did not have a sign to say they were painting outside. I did not see the painter until I was exposed. read more

A friend made me a aware of a promotion eyeland is running where they will match the price of a internet pair of glasses. They have a pretty big selection of frames from which to chose, I selected a pair of ray bans with a varilux invisible bifiocal. I asked Angner the young optician about the promo, he found identical product on his iphone on the internet and matched the price. He measured me for the lenses and promised them in 2 days. All in all I'm pretty satisfied I'm getting the best of both worlds here, price and service. read more

Worst experience EVER!!!!!!!! Bought a deal from Amazon Local which was completely fraudulent!!! Both managers lied about the process. They wanted to charge me $360 just for frames where everywhwere online the frames were only 66 bucks!!!!
