No call no show by a doctor!? I scheduled an appointment with the visionworks in Billerica a week in advance for 9:20am. They told me I needed to arrive 15 minutes early in order to fill out necessary paperwork. I show up at 9:05 only to find the lights off and the doors locked, and the receptionist unwilling to let me in? I have to call the store only to have her answer and say that there are no doctors around so she can't let me in. I am told to wait for a doctor to arrive so I wait outside the store for 25 minutes until one shows up. The best part is when the doctor arrived I was told it was too late (hah!) to get to my appointment and I would have to reschedule! Safe to say I will NEVER come back to this place since their staff and doctors are unprofessional and childish enough to not show up to the job or even let anyone know! AVOID this place at all costs unless you want them to treat you as terribly as I was. read more

Got glasses for the entire family. Staff was helpful and friendly. Had eye are plan and also had FSA to use before the end of the year. Taylor helped us from start to finish and spent time in addition to advising on which glass frames fit better or worked with the shape of o our faces. Didn't try to upsell to more expensive glass frames or special coatings, but matched us with what we needed and what was best. Even when a problem arose after all was said and done, Taylor handled it and worked to resolve to our satisfaction. If you are in the area, give them a try!! I received 4 different appointment reminders and confirmed my appointment. 4 hours before the appointment I received an email I cancelled my appointment. I called to say I didn't cancel. I left a bad review for the Seabrook, NH Visionworks because multiple times I scheduled an appointment and they called two days prior to tell me they had no doctors, I would need to reschedule. After that I found this one near my work and I had a great experience. I went in and they were a little busy from there the Doctor's Assistant came out, she was hilarious and made me and my wife laugh a good amount. The doctor came in and she was great. Then we had the male, who was also great! He pretty much was doing something else but made sure we knew to let him know when we were ready. He dropped everything, got us our quote on how much the glasses would be. He was super friendly, engaging. To top it off they all had great sense of humors and were awesome to deal with! read more

I went in on April 18th to see if this place took my insurance. The male employee took several minutes to check and finally was able to find that they did. I made an appointment that day and the earliest they had available was May 12th. I booked the appointment. I really need new glasses because my current glasses are broken (I have the lenses super-glued in). Today, on the day of my appointment, I drive 25 minutes to get here. I walk in and the same male employee who was working the first time was at the counter. He asked how he could help me. I said I was there for an appointment. Surprise!!! I went in on April 15th and the male employee was rude but I overlooked it as it was a Saturday and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I went in today and he was aggressive and kept telling me I don't know what I am talking about. I kept saying you aren't listening to me. The bifocals are crooked. He kept saying they aren't and he finally said what do you want me to do. I said I don't want crooked lenses, He walked away and spoke to another woman who said you requested a manager. I said I never requested one he simply walked away. At the end of the day, the lenses were crooked and they are ordering me new lenses. Not only was he wrong, he was rude. I felt very safe and happy to see multiple policies in place with COVID to keep customers safe. I appreciate that you need to make an appointment even just to browse glasses and they stick to that policy....many people stopped in assuming they could look around or pick up glasses and all were told they needed an appointment. (Although, no one took my temperature when I arrived, as I was told they would in my appointment confirmation). I did like that they provided trays to keep the glasses you liked in, and any glasses you tried on and didn't like were to be put in one of the various bins located around the store to be sanitized before they are put back on display for others. The doctor was great and I loved that they have up to date technology and machines to avoid eye dilation. I was there during lunch and I believe some associates were on break, so I had to wait a while for someone to help me place my glasses order. (There was a very chatty red headed gentleman who spent a long amount of time shooting the breeze with a customer...going into detail about his dating life which I found odd, but slightly entertaining while I waited for someone to help me). The woman who helped me was excellent I wish I remembered her name! I listened to her help an elderly gentleman and was patient explaining his various options. When she wrapped up with him and came to help me she spent a lot of time crunching numbers to ensure I was getting the best deal possible with their specials and my insurance for contacts & glasses. Worst customer service ever. Ordered glasses over 4 weeks ago. Was told 2 weeks they would be ready. I called and was told oh they were lost! We will reorder them. I then asked what would of happened if I didnt call. I asked about tracking and whyt didnt they know until I called. "All we can do is reorder them" I then asked well can you put a rush on them and absorb the cost? I was told no..And there would be no compensation for my inconvebience. Then I was hung up on.. I had several pairs of glasses made at this store over the past few years & I was always happy with the results until this past time. I had an eye exam done which was fine. I told the associate that I wanted the thin & light weight lenses that I always got like before. I wanted new lenses made for my existing frames that I had already purchased. I did not need to buy a new frame. I was notified the finished pair of glasses were ready to pick up. I went to the store and the glasses were absolutely not what I expected like from previous visits. One of the lens in the frame was virtually 2 times the thickness of the lens that it replaced. The prescription was virtually the same as before. First they told me it was because of OSHA requirements. Then I was told it was because the frames were half frames with a wire at the bottom & the lenses needed to be thick because the wire holds the lens in. Next I was told it was because I didn't pay enough for the thin lens. Well first of all the price for these new lenses were the same price as the previous lenses made that I bought before. Secondly the previous lens the new one replaced was fine being held in by the wire. Third what the hell does OSHA have to do with my glasses? I did not order safety glasses nor did I expect deep sea submarine windows for lenses. I was told a bunch of dumb excuses. I know mistakes can be made & I was cooperative as long as they fix them. It was acknowledged a mistake was made & that they would be sent out to be repaired. They send them out to Texas now they are not made locally anymore. The second visit to pick them up supposedly repaired, The glasses looked exactly as before like nothing was done. I think I was just told they were. I restated that they were not acceptable. They acknowledged again they were wrong and assured me that they would be corrected. The third visit to pick them up, they were just the same again, nothing was done. They looked totally ridiculous. Also, the lenses were cut wrong. Not the same way as the old lenses. They do not even fit into the frame correctly. There are gaps between the lenses and the frame on the inside corners. Total disappointment from the previous visits with them. They were always fine before. I reached out to the Customer Service Department through the website & I was told this issue would be escalated to a higher management & to expect a call back about this complaint because I had sent pictures which proved what I claimed. Complete waste of time, no phone call, no response to follow up email. Beware about getting glasses made here. This is why they make you pay up front because if the glasses are made wrong you have no recourse. They already have your money with no refunds. Unfortunately I will not do business with them again in the future. They ruined my favorite frames because I'm not even sure I can get new lenses made somewhere else because they tossed my good fitting old lenses & I think they are needed to cut new ones. My experience with my eye exam was fine. I'm upset with the store closing earlier than the time posted when I tried to pick up my glasses. I got an email today (Saturday) at 5:35 that my glasses were ready for pickup. I drove straight to the store and got there at 5:50. The doors were locked and no one was inside. Now the store isn't open again until Wednesday so I'm without glasses until then. I understand I got there close to the closing time but if it's supposed to be open until 6, someone should be there until 6. read more

We bought glasses two weeks ago, we took the 2 for 1 deal that they had going on. It all started in the Salem NH. The sales representative, wouldn't give much information or options to me without me asking for it, she assumed that I wanted the most expensive lenses in the store didn't ask if we wanted anti glare or nothing or show any other option. Finally we took the 2 pairs home, and both of them were very disappointing. The frames started peeling, and the lenses were blurry from one side. Took them back for adjustment and explained the issues I was having with them. I did get the anti glare which was a joke- There was no difference from my old pair that had no anti glare from the new pair. All this to say that this is the 4th time that I go back there to adjust them and they don't get any better. Finally end up returning them, which I had payed with a card and cash, they didn't give me my cash back because they didn't have any at the store, so they will be sending me a check for that money. NOW I AM OUT OF A GLASSES AND OUT OF MONEY. it is a shame... You would have thought that they would have done something for me after going back 4 times for adjustments and all this inconvenience about not giving me my money right then in there. I had ordered a pair of Transition lenses and could not adjust. I returned those and ordered a pair of single vision lenses. With my insurance I should have paid $10.00 for the single lens glasses. I Paid $200.00 for the original pair. I asked about a refund at the store level ( Billerica, MA). The Manager told me the insurance company said it was a wash. I left and thought that just did not sound right. I called my insurance company and they said it is based on the store/company. I called Visionworks corporate and had a case opened. They transferred me to refunds and told me my refund could take up to 14 days to show on my account, that was 60 days ago. I have called the corporate # at least 4 times and they tell me a Regional Manager has to get in touch with me and they would call me back within 24-48 hours, NOPE! I called them back, they said that the Regional Manager tried to call but I did not answer and that they would message them again ( I did not have a missed call). I said can I just have their number and call myself. They told me they don't have phone numbers because they are always on the road and are hard to reach. Have they never heard of cell phones!!! I have yet to have anything resolved. I will never use them again as their customer service at the corporate level is outrageous and the store lever manager was not much help either. read more

I went there today to look into their 2 for $59 single vision and 2 for $99 for progressives. I walked in expecting the usual bait and switch advertised by many sales. Wow I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were willing and eager to only show me what was included in the sale. They had a lot to chose from! I got my son and my daughter each 2 pairs of single vision glasses for $59 per child. There is an up charge for anti glare but it's minimal. I opted out since my kids only use glasses in school to read. I got 2 pair of progressive bifocals for myself and I pair was sunglasses. I did all of the up charges because I wear glasses for everything but sleeping and showering. My total only went from $99 to $200. I was quoted $410 at BJs and $600 at Target for my 2 pairs of the same order and less quality glasses. My total for my glasses was only $226. For 6 pairs of glasses I paid $344. That's a fabulous deal!!!! They're due in less than 2 weeks. Other places have made me wait over a month. This will be my new store. I took my prescriptions with me and they filled them No issue. read more

Up until the ordering of contacts this place was great. Speedy appointment, nice and thorough MD. Glasses were great. When it came to ordering contacts for the same patient it was a whole other story. Tried to order online. Unable to do so without member number. Tried to call for 4 days to speak with someone. No one picked up the phone ever. Finally after about 20 minutes someone from "corporate" picks up and says I'll try and get them. Placed back on hold for approx 10 mins. Then they come back on and say they were unable to get ahold of the store. They will take a message and send it to the store and have them get back to you. Never ever received a call back......from anyone and corporate could not give me the member number in order to order the contacts online. This process happened multiple times a day for FOUR days. Finally went in to order and was told that he contacts they suggested and my daughter liked were no longer available due to a "nationwide shortage" on contacts. I asked her to explain and that's all that she could say. Left that location, called 3 other places (all of which had them in stock) and were able to order the exact same contacts over the phone that same day shipped directly to our home. Will never return. Very poor with customer service. Had my eyes examined there and then purchased two sets of glasses. They messed up the prescription for my right eye. I had to go back to my old glasses. I returned to Visionworks to try and get this corrected and was told I had to ware the new glasses for two week. I explained that I have been wearing glasses for over forty years and never had blurry vision after purchasing new glasses. They basically said tough luck wait two weeks. I also explained we were going away for the holidays and wearing glasses that give me a headache isn't really a option. All they said was that I have to wait two weeks and the doctor would tell me the same thing if I saw her. I have never had this problem before and never been told that I had to wait for my eyes to adjust to a new prescription. The only thing I can say is byer beware stay away from Visionworks. I was told after accepting the new glasses, that if I was not happy or there was a problem to come back. I found out the hard way that if you do go back, its basically tough luck wait for your eyes to adjust to the new prescription. :-( read more

Just moved to the area very dissapointing experience. Doctor took literally no more than 5 minute to check me u for contacts and eye glasses. No personal connection at all. Then when I went to front desk thats when they decided to tell my my insurace "eyemed" does not cover lenses and eye glasses with vision works and i had to go somewhere else to get them. I was asked to pay for contact lense trail (90 dollars) with the insurance. Mind you no contact lense was tried that particular day since the trail pack had to be ordered but I had to pay them anyways. Two weeks past never got a call from them so I decided to call them to see if my trail contact lense came in and I was told it actually did and I could come in and pick it up anyday. Put it on for a week before and call to make an apointment with the doctor again. 1) Customer should be notified before hand if there insurace covers everything including lenses and glasses 2) No reason why doctor rush you to get you out of there. ( 5 minutes is unacceptable and unheard of) Over all first and last time. I should have went to lens crafter or a private practice instead. read more

Good luck getting someone on the phone wasn't the first time I've called the Billerica Visionworks. I had an emergency cause my contacts vision wasn't clear when driving at night. The 2 staff on site wasn't able to squeeze me in even though there was no customer in the store at the moment he told me to make an appointment which was weeks out now putting me in endanger of others when driving at night. Didn't bother to ask the doctor if he can see me even though it's an emergency. Not customer friendly if you ask me I don't think I will be going back since people lives is at risk when I'm driving at night. read more

I am just coming back from getting glasses for our 17 year old son. We are long time customers who had a bad experience there recently, and we were hesitant to go back. Well Shannell was simply amazing today, and restored our faith in this local shop. She has always been attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. Today was no exception! She went above and beyond with figuring out our insurance, was hilariously honest with our teenager about some of his glasses choices and was delightful to deal with. As you can see, the Visionworks customer service has responded to my review, and I appreciate that. And I will email them with the additional information that they have requested. And then I will let everybody here know whether they get back to me or not. If they do, and they are willing to provide me with a proper resolution to my problem, then I will let everybody here know about that, as well. (It shouldn't be too difficult to resolve, since I told that unprofessional excuse for a manager, Tory, that I didn't really want a reimbursement; what I really want are the frames. If they are not stocking those frames any longer then, yes, of course I want my money back. But if those frames are still available, that's all I really want.) But, unfortunately, that sorry excuse for a Visionworks "manager" was more interested in controlling the conversation than she was in resolving my problem (and her area manager, Ms. Early, didn't even afford me the courtesy of a return phone call, so that she could hear my side of the story). And as long as this situation remains as is, my one-star rating will stand. (Actually, I'd like to give them a minus -50 star rating because while it's terrible for a company like this to try to rip off ANY customer, it takes a really exceptional set of scumbags to try to rip off a disabled person.) read more

Past 2 prior visits was with a female doctor which I learned was no longer seeing patients at this location. Uniformly pleasant staff. Large frame selection. I was able to get an appointment the next day. They have the retinal scanner so you don't have to do the dilation that messes up your eyes for a whole day. The doctor explained the different parts of the exam and identified a problem I was only sort of aware of, which has probably been affecting my prescription. Of course that's what you expect from a doctor, but I always think these chain places are going to be sort of rubber-stamp exams. Most remarkably, they did not try to upsell me on new, expensive contacts like virtually every other eye doctor I have ever had -- of course, always ones you can't buy online. She said, do you like your contacts? I said yes, and that was the end of it. I will go back. read more

It turned out I've been paying double from the Web price!!! When I told them about the price I see on the Web they were agreed to match it right away. Don't waste your time or money!!Very poor customer service! It was suppose to be back to school glasses! Promissed to have new frames and lens within two weeks for my son. It's been a month and I still do not have either. They will Never call you to inform you as to what's going on. I've called several times and they never know what's going on. The doctor performing vision test is superfast which is extremely inconvenient. She keeps changing views 1,2 and 3,4 even before the vision is clear, spends very little time making connection with patient. I would recommend that she slows her with her patient. They charge $65 for eye and contact lens and spend less than 15 min testing a patient. I spent more time waiting n filling out paperwork. read more

I have been going to Visionworks (Cambridge Eye) for about 30 years. What a shame that they lost a longevity of a customer. I contacted an eye infection and they could not give me an eye exam so I could get new glasses and contact lenses. 3 weeks it took to clear up. I had to wear my contacts for I lost my glasses. It cleared up but are still using same contacts. They could not see me right away and I requested a temporary pair until they could see me which I have done before. They refused and said I needed an eye exam! My last eye exam was 10 months ago . Insurance covers eye exams yearly Meanwhile, my eyes hurt and have no other alternative. So that being said they lost a great customer. You refused a patient that needed help! Good bye. read more

The customer service was top notch. Friendly employees. Very professional and personal. Explained everything in detail, I made a same day appointment, was even seen 15 minutes early. I chose gorgeous frames and received a 25% discount on my frames and lenses, from my Blue Cross Health coverage policy. And the $75 eye exam cost was also paid by my insurance. I walked out of there with $400 glasses, and an eye glass cleaning kit for only a total of $221. I saved about $149. And I am very happy with Cambridge Eye Doctors in Billerica. I am a bit nervous that they are changing their name to Vison World?, I believe a new business merger or something. I do hope they keep up the excellent service that I exhibited even after this merger. Quite frequently after a business merger, excellent service can get compromised as the higher ups are only looking for an immediate return on investment from the merging of the companies. I hope this does not happen, as I am very happy now, and would hate to have to switch to a different company. read more
