We moved to Audie Murphy Ranch January 2020 to a blank slate in our backyard. Shayna provided us a great design so that our backyard was not only functional for ourselves but for our 15 grandchildren! She was able to design a backyard with a huge patio, spa, custom fireplace, barbecue island, side yard and play yard with rubber mulch in which we later placed a play structure. It was designed so that anywhere the adults were in the yard, the adults could see the children playing on the play structure to ensure they were keeping safe. Avila Landscape was utilized in conjunction with her design, utilizing drought tolerant and colorful plants with full irrigation. We also widened our driveway and added a curved walkway to the front of our home. Jaime Avila does exceptional work and takes great pride in what he does and that he ensures that his crew does as well. We even had managed to bring our huge old L shaped barbeque island with refrigerator to our new home. Jaime was able to match the paint from our house to the barbecue and add new tiles so that the custom fireplace and barbecue matched perfectly. In viewing other yards in our area, we realized quickly that Jaime does an exceptionally fine job, a cut above others. About a year after the initial plan was done, seeing that all our plants and irrigation was thriving and the concrete was still in perfect condition from the work that was done, we decided to add an aluminum overhead cover and a sitting bench. Our yard is angled and Jaime was able to make it look perfectly planned as if it had been done at the start. It has been 2 years now and we are still thrilled with the results and the minimum upkeep our property requires due to the careful planning these experts did. Guests come over and feel like they are at a resort. So blessed!

Fast forward almost two years later, we were ready to put the concrete in our yard. When I contacted Ruff & Ready, they had our photos, previous quote, and hand written notes still in their portal. I surely wasn't expecting this. Jeff came out to measure the new spot and confirm the scope of work. He was efficient, flexible with his timing, and arrived in the window given. Jeff's quote was not the most expensive nor was it the cheapest. What made us choose Ruff & Ready you ask? Jeff spoke as if what he said would actually happen. And that's how it went! He was transparent, honest, and didn't fluff anything. He got us a quote for the updated work within 24 hours. His office assistant Vanessa answered all our questions and walked us through the timeline of the whole thing, from start to finish, from signing our contract to paying the deposit to when we would begin work to how to pay the remaining balance. Vanessa answered text messages promptly and also answered the phone. No elevator music on the other line, no 'all of our representatives are busy' garbage. The crew who came out was incredible. They were respectful. They didn't blast music or leave trash. They were thorough and adhered to the timeline given. They closed the gate and ensured it was locked each day, which matters to me as a mom with littles. They parked in the street and moved when I needed to get into my garage. We used Ruff & Ready as a test as our current gardener will be relocating soon. We could not be happier with our experience and plan to use them for future backyard projects. Thank you Vanessa, Jeff, and the Ruff and Ready team!

We used Ramon and his company CR Pacific Landscaping for a significant backyard makeover. Our yard…read morewas quite nice, but as we are nearing retirement there were a few changes we wanted to make it our dream yard. First, we considered a swimming pool but the cost, maintenance and several other factors changed our direction to a swim spa. We chose the AquaPlay 13FPP. Because the spa stands over 5 feet tall, we knew we wanted it set into the earth. Next: I've had Koi for many years, but all ponds so far were DIY - it was time to go all in. Plants: As you can see from the "before" photo - plants are important to us. Finally: Ease of maintenance. We wanted an incredible yard that we could enjoy without spending a bunch of time maintaining it. After obtaining several bids and meeting several contractors, we signed an agreement with Ramon. Three of the primary reasons we went with CR Pacific: 1) He was the only contractor we spoke with that had actual experience building "The Vault" - (the basement the swim spa sat in). 2) He had experience building water features and understood the basics, but building a pond of this size and mechanical requirements was new to him. 3) He has a great personality and appeared to be collaborative. The Good: Ramon proved to be quite collaborative. He had ideas, I had ideas and we worked together to land on the best ideas. We had problems arise (see "The Ugly"), but Ramon only delivered solutions or possible solutions. He owned the entirety of the project (even through at least 8 change orders). His common response to a change order: "We can do that" - and they did. From a client/contractor perspective, Ramon has great communication skills. He kept me informed every step of the way. Quality: The photos speak for themselves. Ramon was insistent on doing things right. Ramon had put around a dozen drains in the backyard properly piped to the street. I gave him a hard time as before he took the job, we only had two drains. We did experience some minor flooding when we would have the torrential rains. About a week after the project wrapped, we had several days of torrential rains - not even a puddle in the yard. The Bad: On site supervision could be better. Ramon had about 6 employees, most only spoke Spanish. Because I work from home I kept an eye on the progress. When I would see something that needed correction I had to use Google Translate to communicate with the workers. I often had to text Ramon inquiring if he was going to stop by. This was a significant, complex job. That is really my only "Bad". Clearly "The Good" far exceeds "The Bad". The Ugly: Water, water everywhere... While the vault was being dug, we started noticing water in the bottom of the hole at around 38". We spent a little over a week pumping it out. We contacted the water company who told us there did not appear to be a main break in the neighborhood. They suggested it could be groundwater. When the started digging the pond, groundwater continued to be a problem. Ramon dug and installed a permanent groundwater well - groundwater continues to be pumped out daily. Just another example of Ramon's perseverance. I highly recommend Ramon & CR Pacific for any landscape job.
