This is my original review from early May: I had a HORRIBLE experience with this individual. He kept lying, asked me to pay for things he should have bought, demanded premature payments to himself, declared the Contract not valid, called me all kinds of names and threatened me when i refused to pay him ahead of schedule. Background: He told me the job would take 4-5 weeks and got fired at week 15, and there was still so much left to do! He kept lying for weeks about the tub he never ordered and for which i paid, then lied about the countertops deposit he never made, did not show up multiple times when he said he would, and this goes on and on. Then at week 8 or 9 he said he can not proceed with the work because he does not have money for materials (cabinets, toilet, tiles, etc), and asked me to pay for them and subtract it from his last payment. After i purchased all that, the last payment was due upon completion of all work, yet he demanded $2.5K check to himself, and when i refused, he freaked out that the checks he wrote would bounce, called me all kinds of names and made threats. Running a "great" business there! Horrible quality work too. He screwed up so many things: my brand new flooring, openings in the ceiling for lights fixtures were completely misplaced, the fillers in kitchen cabinets missing, lights in the bathroom stopped working, connected the stove so that the gas was coming out, mounted toilet on top of a painter's cloth, missed a filler in the bathroom so that the counter-tops wouldn't fit, and then said the "only way" to correct this is to reverse my french closet doors, so they would open outside in! I am not joking. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this scumbag. read more

We just sold the condo to a happy buyer, thanks to Matt's artistic vision (tada!) and hard work. Matt and his crew were driven, honest, and a great pleasure to have around. I bought property in Chicago and I needed a new wall built that could match our existing high-end construction. I met with several local contractors and settled on Vision Remodelers. The quote was fair and in line with any serious construction company (bear in mind, I wasn't interested in finding a joe schmoe off craigstlist to do it for half the price). My main concern was quality, as I wanted the new wall to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding structure. In that regard, Vision Remodelers delivered in spades. They finished the job early, and I couldn't be happier with the final result. Most importantly, their team of carpenters, fabricators, and painters were incredibly pleasant and trustworthy. They treated my space with respect, with an attention to detail I would've expected they reserved for their own homes. To be honest, it was a surprisingly quick and painless project and 100% attribute that to Matt's, and his team's, consummate professionalism. We hired Matt to do an extensive renovation of our first home, which we purchased out of foreclosure. Matt and the team truly did a great job and we love it! The work included all new hardwood flooring, recess lighting, installing a new patio door, re-doing a shower, painting our kitchen cabinets, painting the entire house, etc. In addition, they built us custom barn doors, which look amazing. While Matt did not hit the timeline we discussed at the onset (he had some personal issues going on and is likely busy as he does really good work), he took full accountability and helped us with a side project to accommodate our inconvenience. He also has come back after we paid him to clean up a few items that were in need of touch-ups. You do not get this level of commitment from most contractors. I would absolutely hire Matt and his team again for our next project and I highly recommend his work! Matt did a fantastic job remodelling our condo, turning a 2 bedroom into a 3 bedroom configuration. He knocked out walls, added others and installed really cool custom-built barn doors and closet systems. We needed electrical work all over the place, new hardwood floors/refinishing, crown molding and tons of painting. Matt went above and beyond to make sure that the job was done correctly and that we liked everything. For the barn doors, I searched all over and couldn't find anything that would fit, so I just showed Matt a picture and he was able to custom-build the perfect doors for our space. He also made built-in bookcases in 2 of the rooms that are fantastic. His team worked hard on the project, they came in on budget and were just generally awesome and responsive. read more

We hired Matt to do a pretty extensive remodel of our 1940's house - full upgrades of plumbing/electrical/HVAC, a new kitchen, updating a powder room and even removing a wall. Vision did a great job at a very fair price. We absolutely LOVE our new kitchen, and the best part is our beautiful new custom island that Matt built for us. He also built us a custom built-in cookbook shelf which is adorable and unique. We get tons of compliments from our guests about how gorgeous our new kitchen is. When minor issues or changes came up (which is expected with any renovation), Matt worked with us to correct things, even after the project was complete. Matt and his team performed the following tasks in my condo: carpet/tile removal, laminate floor additions, kitchen countertops w/ new sink and faucet addition, kitchen backsplash addition, and bathroom mold removal. These guys are fantastic! They showed up on time and worked diligently throughout the day. Matt responded relatively quickly to my texts and calls and addressed all the concerns I had. He even checked on some additional plumbing issues, not included in the initial contract. All the projects that they completed look great. Matt was supposed to come with us to pick out materials and was unable to because he got sick. However, he was extremely responsible and promptly sent his wife to the store to help us out. Vision Remodelers recently did my kitchen and man, I had to write this review. I usually don't write reviews because companies usually don't deserve it but these guys are something else. Not only were they incredibly polite and professional with my family, they were respectable towards the other areas of my home, they completed the room in a timely manner and they did an incredible job following up afterwards to see if I was satisfied with their work. It was truly a pleasure and I plan on having them do the rest of my home. The only thing I'm mad about is that I didn't remodel more of my home at the same time. They worked within my schedule and budget, and did a great and thorough work remodeling my kitchen and two bathrooms. The trim, drywall, ceramic floor, walls, and painting was phenomenal. Matt was referred to us by our plumber to renovate and remodel our 3 bedroom apartment. He and his team did an excellent job. They completely remodeled the entire Kitchen, installing new cabinets, counter tops and fixtures. We needed extensive repair and updating in the bathroom. Our kitchen and bathroom looked simply beautiful once the work was completed as well as the rest of the apartment. All of this work was performed within a budget that was affordable for us. I am very pleased with the job Vision Remodelers did on my kitchen. I live in a condo and they notified my neighbors when it got a bit noisy, which made my life a lot easier. I was very impressed with their performance. They were hired to remodel my aunts kitchen and it was truely an incredible makeover. They definitely exceeded her expectations.
