Had seen another doctor could not see great for 2 years. My husband saw Dr Valamides in Watauga and loved him. He walked out seeing better than before and bragged on the great customer service. I agreed to try him even though it was an hour drive. I can not say enough about him and his employees. He knew right away how to help me see better and he was right!!! His staff is super friendly and most of all knowledgeable about contacts and glasses! I will never go anywhere else I was very pleased! read more

Doctor was decent. The office person was horrible. Bothered because I asked for my prescription to take to another place. She didn't want to give it to me...kept trying to get me to buy there. Like what?? She was like we can beat their prices-and even told me "why would I want to do something as crazy as go to somewhere else". So we ran numbers and one way was going to cost me $530 or so and another way was going to cost me $750 or so. Went to the other place. Contacts, glasses with warranty, add ons to lenses and they are out of network costs me $300!!! Choosing a different place for sure. Never going back. read more

I was a client of this office since 2006 and never had really big issues until today. This year I don't have vision insurance and I called in advance to check on cash price. I was advised it is $140 and I scheduled an appointment for today. When I arrived in the office this morning, they confirmed the price that it is $140 for the contact exam. When I finished my exam which lasted literally 3 minutes I was asked to order contact for 12 months. I said that since I don't have vision coverage anymore, I do need to shop around before I order. The lady told me that my total is $240. First, I thought she just misspoke and I corrected her that it is $140. She said no, it is $240 since my exam was very detailed. I was surprised how the exam can be very detailed if it lasted only 3 minutes. I paid and left and I will take my business somewhere else. read more

I sincerely regret booking an appointment to come to this office. The doctor was amazing, friendly and efficient. The front desk staff and manager who ended up helping me pick out glasses was rude, very pushy as far as sales is concerned. When she discovered that I was not going to be upgrading all of the options on my glasses and when I would not order contacts from her she did not want to give me my prescription and made me wait almost 15 minutes for no reason. She reluctantly gave me my prescriptions and I left. I'll never order anything from this location again and I won't be back as a patient. -- Update: I received my glasses and I'm not happy with the quality of them but since it's filed with the insurance they will do nothing as far as customer service goes to get this repaired. Basically a waste of a doctors visit and I'm stuck with a bad pair of glasses for one year. read more

Customer service from the doctor was horrible. He was arrogant and not a considerate man. Quit frankly he's rude and doesn't have good communication skills. While waiting one of the office assistants told the doctor she didn't come into work to be spoken to with his disrespect and she left. While in the middle of the exam he was disrespectful and rude to my son. Due to the sarcasm and lack of professionalism we left before he was finished. My family has been coming here for years but the last two visits with the male doctor has been horrific and we will not return. I have been coming to this location since 2006 and have never had a problem. I forgot my yearly in Oct. because my uncle passed away upon multiple other things called life. I went in today to see if I could get a spare pair of contacts and scheduled my appt for Feb 1st due to me moving. The dr refused because I bought 6 months supply of contacts from 1800contacts and didn't get them from him. I even tried to donate unused contacts I had. Very disappointed. read more

I came in to pick up my glasses and person didn't even introduce themself, asked why I was their, she went to the back and brought me a box and handed bottle of cleaning spray and future cleaning cloth. With the previous business owner, an assistant would take my new eyeglasses OUT OF THE BOX to 1) confirm they were what I ordered 2) cleaned them 3) sat in front of me as I tried them on to verify and possible any adjustment and verify vision was ok. This time, what happens? I get handed a box and cleaning supplies. I understand it's under new management but eye glass pick up process NEEDS serious fixing !!!! After having problems with the adjustments on my glasses they have made them right and I'm happy with them.

The doctor I had was helpful in getting me glasses that would help me see better thru daily use. The prescription wasn't able to help me see perfectly 20/20, but it didn't give me a headache either. I wish he would've explained that from the start. read more

So I came to Vision City with my wife to get her a new pair of glasses. We end up ordering a pair online and the lady tells us they'll be ready in a week. Ok great. Well, a week later we get a phone call "The glasses are in but they are a blue color." Definitely not what my wife ordered. These glasses are a bright turquoise blue. So of course my wife says they arent the right ones. They give us a long look and seemed a little annoyed with us. A week later, they call back and say they have the correct pair. Finally. So we go back in to pick them up. The lady tells us, "Oh we didn't put the lenses in yet. We just wanted to show you. Come back at 7." So we have to drive back for a THIRD time. It's near closing so we are rushed out. At home my wife tries them on. The glasses are creaky and do not fit correctly. Once AGAIN, we have to go back in for a FOURTH time. The lady fits them for us but when asked why they're so squeaky, she hesitates and says, "I don't know. Maybe it's the frame?" Keep in mind, we ordered the same pair of glasses my wife already has and the old ones don't squeak like this. She kept saying she has no idea and just stared at us with the most annoyed look on her face. It was obvious she didn't care. Long story short, it was a big mistake to come here. The workers are incompetent and seem lost. The customer service and lack of communication is horrible. We will not be coming back. read more

I've never been to a business more unprofessional than this Vision City location. I was told that my prescription would take a week and a half. It ended up taking an entire month, within that month I was consistently disrespected when asking for an updated status and then was told to call back in a week. Clean, every appointment I've made has been on time but now I remember why I only had my eyes checked and didn't order glasses from them... The tech told me my eyeglasses were going to be sent out that day. FALSE. It took them 4 days to send them out. I stopped in today to find out why 2 weeks have passed and was informed the lab hasn't even started on them. A little bit of honesty would go a long way here. Returned 3 times to get my contacts adjusted before I decided I'd had enough. I was examined by 2 different doctors and the 3rd time I waited 45 minutes even though I showed up early for the appointment. Another customer walked out also. It took a little doing but I was finally able to get them to refund my card for the contacts that I was planning on ordering. Even though they never actually ordered the contacts. The process made me feel like all they wanted was my money (which they get upfront) and didn't care about helping with my vision. Hard to rate accurately. The visit was nice, very quick and courteous staff made the process very enjoyable. They were quite over-priced on their frames, I had done some comparison shopping before I came here. I opted to get my frames elsewhere but to my dismay, my new location couldn't order my glasses because Vision City had submitted the claim to my insurance as if I had ordered the glasses from them! So now begins the hoop-la of filing a dispute with my insurance to get the claim reversed. Fortunately, they were honest about the mistake so getting the claim reversed was fairly simple only delayed the processing a day or som. read more

Vision City in Watauga is horrible! Jonathan Valamides is awful and should have been reported several years ago when he insulted me for wanting to get cheaper contacts somewhere else. He replied "these are only $3.00 more, can you afford that?" That is verbatim. So unprofessional. I took my daughter back this week for a contact exam ONLY because his office staff quoted me the wrong price and I thought his office was less expensive (we private pay - no insurance) than other Optometrists - they charged me $40.00 more than they quoted on the phone. They wouldn't honor the price, even though I showed them the original piece of paper I had written the quoted price on, along with with my daughter's appointment date and time. They used the excuse "contact exams START at that price." They should have told me that, because other offices were less expensive and I would have went elsewhere. Anyway, I left quite upset (again). Of course, as I predicted, I found the contacts cheaper online (I ordered and paid for them!), but didn't notice they had given me a glasses prescription and not the contact prescription. What?! I paid $180.00 for a contact exam! Where's the stinking prescription? They wanted to make sure the trial contact worked for my daughter. What trial contact? My daughter didn't mention it and they didn't tell me they gave her one with the new prescription. I finally received the contact prescription after I demanded it. In addition, Jonathan Valamides puts way too much pressure on everyone to purchase all products from his office. It's obvious he doesn't like people to shop around and compare prices. He also told me when ordering contacts online, there's a possibility "those companies send out expired contacts", etc. Bologna. I've never had it happen yet! Move on down the road and find a reputable Optometrist. :) read more

I started going to Vision City in Watauga, TX this last spring when I desperately needed a new prescription for my glasses, and my company had vision insurance that wasn't accepted by many vision centers in the area, but Vision City accepted our insurance, The personnel are very helpful the instant you walk in the door. They accept walk-ins and if the doctor isn't available for you at that time, they will try to get you seen as soon as possible. After I received my glasses (they had to be sent out to be made due to my poor vision and to the frames I chose) I had some issues with my glasses, and when I went back, the doctor rechecked my vision and my glasses and found a discrepancy and had them re-made at no charge to me. Well, it's been about 6 months and I somehow broke a pair of almost indestructible frames. I called Vision City about the damage and their tech said that the frames I had purchased are still under waranty and she ordered the pieces I needed for my glasses. She received one of the temple pieces (the one that broke off) so I went in on Sat to have her replace the temple. It was a bit different than the other temple and she and another employee tried their darnedest to get my glasses to fit on my face correctly. They got them to fit the best they could, but I still have to go back when the left temple piece comes in so the glasses will fit better. The employees at this location try their best to make sure you leave their facility a satisfied customer. They have me as a life long customer. read more
