Best spot in Vancouver area. Family friendly. Great collections of frames, including Kate Spade and all the brands I like.

This is not the clinic to go to if you are a POA or spouse of a relative with Alzheimers or any…read moremedical challenge. I have been taking my 90 year old mother to this clinic for about 6 years because she has a prescription for glaucoma that needs to be renewed yearly. She has also had cataract surgery while at this clinic. The exam is 2 hours, and includes an exam for vision, even though she has limited vision due to Alzheimers. Due to the difficulty in getting her to the clinic and her inability to sit through 2 hour exams I requested the medication for glaucoma be discontinued. I asked if it was necessary to retain what vision she has left and was told it was not, but was only for the eye pressure related to glaucoma. The Dr. did give me the facts about discontinuing the medications and answered my questions. On the other hand, his assistant that we saw right before seeing the Dr., as is standard, was obviously clueless about what Alzheimers entails in the terms of communications. I tried to explain the facts about her vision and was bluntly told not be so dismissive of what vision she has. He showed an unwillingness to listen to me and reacted to my comments like he felt I was being unkind to my mother. He continued to ask my mom questions and tried to communicate with my mother, who no longer has the ability to communicate intelligibly or answer questions. His tone was condescending and in light of the fact he clearly demonstrated during the exam he has no knowledge of Alzheimers, he was totally out of line. The short vision exam he included along with her eye pressure check supported what I had relayed to him about her vision, and he did not complete the routine exam due to both my mother's inability to follow direction and the obvious fact that she could not see even the largest chart displayed. This is not the first issue we have had at the clinic in the last two years. At the previous routine exam last year I was told they did not want me to accompany her into the exam, that it was patient only due to their overzealous covid rules. In that the exam is a very long 2 hour exam I went to get my car oil changed while she stayed at the clinic to complete the exam. I wasn't gone an hour and had just pulled up to the clinic when I received a call asking where I was. I told her I just got back to the clinic and she said "oh good". I was then told in a most rude way that they had to escort her to the restroom and that they were not supposed to have to do that. In addition they could not complete the exam due to her lack of understanding directions they gave her to assist in completing the exam. I reminded the staff of their assurance they could handle everything and that she would be fine. So much for their competency in dealing with patients with dementia. If they didn't have the ability to do so they should never have excluded me from accompanying her to the exam rooms. I did notice they have changed that policy, and wondered if others had presented the same situations causing them to realize their shortcomings in dealing with patients with medical and mental challenges. I have never reviewed a medical practice before, but in that this one seems to repeat the same level of subpar patient care I felt compelled to do so. The lack of respect and understanding displayed to those of us who bring our family members with Alzheimers and dementia to the clinic needs to be addressed and amended. We won't be returning to this clinic in the future.

I would rate my Dr 5 stars. If I could give the receptionists 0 stars I would. Rude, condescending…read moreand not wanting to do their job.

Second review for Dr. Crews and his staff. It turned out that one of my eyes was being a problem. I…read morewas seeing some flashy lights in it. Called the office and a very new receptionist told me it was normal - I did not at all agree and firmly told her to talk to a doctor or assistant. Someone more knowledgeable was quickly put on the phone and she got me into an appointment later in the day as the doctors were on a surgery day. While my wait at the office was long that day - which was fine as I was pushed into an already busy schedule, my eye was dilated and seen by Dr. Crews. After examination I went home knowing that a) my call was validated and b) that while there was a bit of an issue, my retina was still fine but that didn't mean a problem couldn't appear. Three days later I had a worser episode with the eye very late in the afternoon but knew I had an appointment already scheduled for the morning with Dr. Crews. Well we switched the purpose of the appt when I arrived and the doctor decided there was enough issue going on that he got on the phone with a retina specialist to get me fit into their schedule and they sent me right over. Big props to Dr. Crews for seeing me when needed and explaining what he believed was happening (he was correct about it) and then getting on the phone with the retina specialist to fit me right into their busy day. Thank you to the team, but train those new receptionists a wee bit better. And if you are reading this in choosing a doctor for lasik/cataracts, I continue to highly recommend Dr. Crews and overall all the great & kind staff in his office.

He was very thorough in his examination and the entire procedure went well. My corrected vision was 20/15 by 9:00pm the night of the surgery. Great job to Dr. Crews and his exceptional staff at the clinic. Thanks for everything. Doug L.
