I had never been to this clinic before but specifically came in for prescription safety glasses through my work. The staff was very welcoming and very friendly. Celia at the front desk was very helpful when I was filling out my insurance info and paperwork. When I did my eye exam with Dr. Robert, he was so helpful and so patient with me and was very informative on different options. Out of all the optometrists that I have seen in the past, he has been the best one I've gone to. I can tell that he really cares about his patients and I am so glad that I found this place through my work. After I got my eyes dilated, I hung out a little bit and looked through glasses trying to find ones that fit my face. I am very petite and I have a very small face, and I always get glasses in the kids section. The person working that evening was so patient with me and so very helpful. I wish I got her name, but she had short curly hair and it was brownish blonde I think. I felt like she went above and beyond to help me find frames that sit comfortably on my face. I didn't feel rushed at all. She even went to the back a few times to try to find other pairs that might fit me. Overall, I had the best experience here and will most likely come back for my future eye exams. I love the staff and I love how they made me feel comfortable and cared for. read more

I appreciate the fact that they are well-informed on my insurance benefits and the accuracy in billing. I have always been very happy with my care. Called to find out about availability for Mibo Flow treatments and was given the run around on the schedule. The first person I spoke with couldn't tell me for sure whether or not there was ever availability for an appointment after 4 pm because they close at 5:30pm. When I asked how I would be able to get a for sure answer on whether or not 4:30 was ever an available time, I was transferred to a second person who said she could schedule me. When I explained that I was simply trying to get an answer as to whether there was ever an available time after I got off of work, she became very rude saying that no they close at 5:30pm as if my questions were ludicrous. After this experience I would not go to this clinic even if they had an availability. My question was a simple one and shouldn't have taken over 15 minutes on the phone to answer by someone with terrible customer service skills. read more

After a lifetime of swollen eyelids and tearing up which no Eye doctor had much of a solution for, Dr Medeski knew what the problem was and has the equipment to help due to her dry eye expertise. Although progress is slow there IS progress, great place and good people. read more

My experience with Downtown Vision Centre was not good. I was in the vision therapy program as a result of vision difficulties post radiation for a brain tumor. The gal at the front desk was unorganized and difficult to work with. There was an air of superiority that was off putting from the moment I walked through the doors. The eye testing seemed normal enough but the rehab part of my treatment plan was not helpful and actually made me more dizzy and uncomfortable than before I started the therapy. They were never clear regarding finances and every time I went in they kept finding charges they neglected to collect or new charges for treatment that did not seem to be working. The tech that was assigned to me was nice but also unorganized and I often felt confused as to what they were trying to accomplish as nothing was explained well. This was an expensive endeavor and my insurance did not cover all of the process that was part of my treatment plan. I was there to get better and followed all their protocols but after many weeks and thousands of dollars I was no better than when I first went in. They suggested I get reading glasses separate from my bi-focals as apparently that can help...having separate reading glasses. I had an eye exam for the reading glasses and ordered my glasses. When they arrived they were not working for me. I could not see well through the new lenses. My very old scratched up lenses were way better to see with than the brand new lenses. One of the techs came in reevaluated the situation and found a solution that was much better but Dr. Medeski changed it back to the old settings. I told her the other way seemed better and she said "but you said you wanted them this way". I was so confused by this. I was relying on them to get the prescription right and when they did not she blamed me and said she would do it but it would cost more money. So far I had been following their treatment plan for weeks that had done nothing to improve my condition. They had charged thousands to me and my insurance company for treatment and then would not correct the glasses that are unusable to me without getting yet more money from me. And of course there was a bit of sarcasm thrown in making me feel worse as I was trying to navigate the frightening aftermath of having a brain tumor. I walked out that day and have not been back. I am out time I spent there trying to get help, I am out money that I spent on rehab that did not do one thing to help my condition, and actually the stress of having to deal with the strange atmosphere there made my condition worse. Plus, I paid for glasses that I cannot use. They have not made any attempt to straighten out the situation after draining my finances. I do not have one good thing to say about the weirdness of Downtown Vision Centre. read more

This place exceeded my expectations. Very nice staff and clean office. The Doctor was very thorough on my exam I felt very pleased. The lady who helped me pick out my frames and lenses listened to what I wanted. I picked up my glasses today and I absolutely love them! They did such a great job. I stopped into this shop one afternoon, looking for eyeglasses suitable for motorcycling. After spending half an hour discussing my "project" with a very knowledgeable and courteous optician, I learned that my Medicare insurance provider (Kaiser Permanente) would not cover any costs except through their own optical centers. I went to KP and had the dame discussion with one of their opticians. I ended up ordering the glasses through KP. When they arrived, I could not see clearly through them. The optician simply took back the glasses and refunded my money - no discussion about the prescription, verifying the order, troubleshooting materials, methods, etc. That was a first for me (a long-time user of eyeglasses). I went back to Downtown Vision Centre and placed the order there, along with another pair of everyday glasses. When they arrived, I also had issues with them. The optician I worked with (Shelly) noted the large difference between the most recent prescription (from KP) and the previous one from 2 years ago (from another vision services provider). She suggested that the prescription appeared to be too strong, by a significant amount. I went back to KP and ordered another eye exam and, sure enough, the optometrist reduced (by a significant amount) the strength of the prescription. After charging me for the exam, of course. The final result of this is that I will not be ordering eyeglasses from KP, even with my insurance benefit. I will be ordering my glassware from Downtown Vision Centre, where I have complete confidence in their expertise, competence and willingness to go a step or two further in meeting the needs of this customer. read more
