My stylist is FANTASTIC! The reason for the one star is the reception I received upon check-in and continued abuse by a staff member. The "manager" named Pat (I think. She was hard to understand due to mask), was rude and bossy. She informed me that there were many other salons and that I should  go there. It is my belief that while attempting to follow instructions given her by her superiors, that she has totally gone off the rails in terms of exercising control over patrons. While I explained about a serious health issue which prohibits restricting my airway, she approached my personal space and continuously spoke to me as if I were a 5 yr old child. When I repeatedly tried to tell her that I had complied under protest and was indeed wearing a mask, she insisted on stating "If you pull it off your nose even once, you are out...." I pointed out that she was wasting my time and that I felt like I was experiencing a panic attack, she cared not a bit. My stylist (I am a regular) was there, and I finally walked toward the shampoo area, and asked to begin, as it never takes long, as I have a short style. Several times during the cut, I was noticed as gasping for air. The stylist is FAR more professional than the "mgr" had been. I have previously contacted the corp. office to voice concerns and to also ask that alternative methods be employed to accommodate patrons such as myself, with serious pulmonary medical issues. I was told during this call that a number of other customers had also called about this concern. When I referred to this call, the staff at the salon were quite dismissive of the company employee to whom I had spoken. They responded with a demeaning, offensive remark about her, as if those calls are of no importance. They seemed disrespectful of this person and her attempts to effectively represent the patrons who frequent their salons and spend hefty sums of money there. What a shame that in an effort to be "Politically Correct" about following a mask mandate, this company disregards with near abandon and abuses patrons who experience serious medical conditions. This is certainly an ADA Act concern. My rights and civil liberties were heinously violated. By the way, Ronni is my FANTASTIC stylist, and I highly recommend her services. Visible Changes, you have jeopardized a gifted stylist's income opportunity by making clear that I am unwelcome in your salon. I have referred numerous people to Ronni and intended to continue, but not at the expense of their receiving the same treatment as I did during my latest visit. While I am certain this talented lady has a large clientele, these days, every dollar counts and I shall refrain from sending my friends and associates into a lions' den. read more

Myrna is the best hair colorist in Houston! She is so great to work with. Always has time for me. I never feel rushed or that she doesn't care. I get compliments all the time on my color and have sent multiple happy clients her way! Theresa for cuts is fabulous. Great cuts that grow out well so I don't have to rush back to keep my style. The manager reached out to me after seeing my review. He was very polite and sincerely wanted to make up for my son's bad experience. My son was afraid to go back but the manager assured me he was going to be in good hands. He promised not to let my son leave unhappy again. I'm so glad my son agreed. Qui Chung did an amazing job. My son walked out smiling. He said he loved his new cut and made me promise that Qui would be his new and only hair stylist. Qui was very good and knew exactly what he was doing. The manager said he was the best and he did not lie. I would highly recommend him, especially if you are like my son and have thick hair. I'm posting updated pics. I also highly recommend this location. Let me explain why. Eventhough we had a bad experience the first time, the manager went above and beyond to find a way to reach out to us and to resolve the issue. This location has a manager who really cares about his clients (That's not always easy to find). I have been a client for many years because I am treated so well every time I go in by everyone who works there. From the receptionists, to the people who help wash your hair, to the hairdressers, everyone has a smile, a good attitude and you're treated like you're part of their Visible Changes family. Melissa is my gal and my daughter loves Kelly! We make our haircuts into a mommy-daughter date & we get to catch up & gossip with the staff. the stylist did good but I got a regular wash, a three-inch trim and no blow dry or anything like that and it cost me $70 and I was out of there in under 45 minutes...and I didn't like request a really high-up stylist or anything. Worst experience of my life going here, to the point where I was traumatized from ever getting my hair dyed again. This happened a few years back but still the same, would never go again. The actual hair color was okay, but the experience and customer service was horrendous! Also one time I was 10 min late for a hair color appointment (which mind you they set aside around 2 hours for) and was turned away cus they said the 10 min would get them too behind! I will never go to this salon again! They recently called saying I haven't been in to see them in more than 3 months and that is because the girl messed up my highlights so bad the last time I went in there I swore to never go in again. After spending almost $250....they vowed to help me fix it...and after a couple of moisturizing treatments and a free tube of hair product I couldn't force myself to go in. When I went in there I wanted to come out looking like a movie star..it's Visible Changes afterall!!! I ended up crying for a month until a real salon helped fix the problem! Completely disappointed !! THEY CHARGE EXTRA COZ YOU HAVE LONG HAIR !!! That's completely ridiculous It was the first time I visited this place for an hair cut and completely disappointed. I scheduled an appointment at 11am for a stylist who charges $45 and then rescheduled it at 3 pm confirming on the similar level of stylist and the girl confirmed on that. Now I go there and there is this stylist who's probably 60 years old with 29years of experience who comes and takes me for an haircut. He was extremely slow while he cut my hair but I stayed clam considering his age. He asked me to curl my hair after a blow dry and I asked him if I would be charged extra he said no it wouldn't be so I let him do that. Now I go to make my payment and they charge me $67 and I am completely taken aback. When i ask them why have I been charged so much they say it was coz i did curls to that I replied I never asked for it and I confirmed with the stylist if it would be charged to me and he said no. Then they say they charged me more coz I have long hair and it took long for the haircut. I kept telling them that he stylist was too slow maybe coz of his age too and above that he even did my curls which was not required so then she charged me $65 which is $2 less. This is the only visible changes I've ever been to so it might just be this location... I feel like they over charge way too much for amateur work. $70 for a trim?? I got highlights done as well and even showed a picture of how I didn't want it to look and that's exactly what she did! Only the top is colored and it looks like she only colored small strips of my hair ...It's a really odd color no where near honey and the service wasn't all that either. I feel just this lucky to have found Karina at visible changes in Memorial city location. Karina has cut and styled my hair flawlessly. I was a little nervous to go to Visible Changes, being new to Houston, but I am happy to report I loved my experience there! My hairdresser was the beautifully amazing Sarah. It had been over a year since my hair had been cut into a bob, and had grown past my mid-back, incurring damage and in need of some help. Sarah was absolutely helpful from the beginning. She was prompt in calling for me, listened to every word I said, and continually offered advice to help my hair stay healthy and shiny. I warned her that my scalp was sensitive to pressure and pulling, and she was repeatedly making sure I was comfortable. I then confessed I suffered from light dandruff issues, and she was able to recommend a good shampoo I should use (which I haven't used yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy), giving me a clear explanation of exactly what I was feeling in my hair. She listened to what I felt comfortable with but still pushed a little, giving me a haircut I knew I'd enjoy. Being a little on the quiet side myself, I enjoyed her happy and comfortable conversational skills. By the end of the appointment, I fell in love with my haircut and I knew I'd be back in her chair for the next one. All in all, Visible Changes was a wonderful place to find a hair stylist. The entire team seemed like family already. My only reason for keeping a star is because I did feel I was pushed into buying the shampoo, but it really was for a good reason! Highly recommend getting your hair cut by Karina. I've seen her three times, and even after moving further from the mall, still continue to go to her. She's super sweet and cuts my hair into a perfect, slightly angled bob (without layers). Sometimes, we go shorter or keep some length, and she does a great job either way. This is bad on my part, but I never even showed her a photo, and she still gave me exactly what I wanted. My hair has not been it's best due to some medical stuff/medications, and she manages to leave it looking so healthy, bouncy, and thick! :) read more

Out of all the years I had been going here, I had never had such bad service. I had created a appointment with a hair colorist a little after Halloween, due to my red hair turned the color of big-red gum. I walked in and was sat down the colorist simply says "oh no. No one has time for you" and even got a manager to say that "no one is going to touch your hair". It kinda sucks because I was will to spend hundreds of dollars to even just get black over it, or even just have it toned down, but was instead turned away and disrespected. I was in tears by the end of all the things said to me, and went to look for anything to have it fixed. I ended up at toni & guy, got demi color, no hair fallout and the stylist styled my hair- while teaching me how to style my own. I only spent 100$, yet was willing to spend 300+. Kinda sad another hair salon could not only do it in less than a few hours, be respectful, and tell me honestly what needs to be done for my hair- but the coloring has lasted over 5 months (even in the chlorine I swim in daily). Never making a appointment with visible changes again- how embarrassing it was to be told the things I was, and have the colorist go and have others come look and laugh at my hair. read more

TERRIBLE. Walked up for a haircut and said I didn't have a preference. Fast service. Turns out I got an assistant director who spent approximately 10 minutes cutting my hair. I opted out of the blow dry because she said it would cost me more (although their prices say cut & style). Left my hair wet and unbrushed and charged me $60. Now my hair is drying and my face framing is choppy and uneven. Love that. Thanks guys. Would love a heads up before I get charged $60 instead of $35 next time. read more

UPDATE: I increased my rating, because I did get in touch with the GM at this location, and with some work, he was able to make my "hair situation" right. He pulled out the big guns with a top tier colorist and stylist to come in and fix the mistakes that the previous two had made on my hair. They understood the problem and spent their time (pro-bono ... although I wound up tipping) to correct it. All in all it was a bad experience that was made right. Can't leave a 1-star review for that ... appreciate them coming through with better customer service after a little to-do. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm bummed to have to leave such a bad review for this place. I've gotten my hair cut here for two years ... With good results. But do NOT go for color! I asked for balayage color on my dark brown hair. I was specific, multiple times, that I did NOT want super light blonde or platinum anywhere in my hair ... What did I wind up with? The lightest blonde/nearly platinum highlights circa 2004. Ok, I'm pissed that I didn't get what I asked for but I'm a reasonable person so I'll just go back and give them a chance to make it right. They can do a toner ... Which I assume will be the common answer to this ... And I'll have to go back every 6 weeks and pay $50-$75 to apply a new toner. SO ... Because they screwed up, not only am I out the $160 I paid originally but now I have an ongoing expense. No deal! Give me my money back and I'll go somewhere else. I'd even be ok with that solution. NOPE!! Because no one in the store can "authorize a refund" ... The general manager has to actually see my hair (as if he knew what it looked like before ... What I asked for ... Or anything about the situation). Ok, put him on the phone and let me talk to him to we can rectify this today and be done. The answer ... No, that'll just make him mad. Wow! Super customer service. I have been going to visible changes for at least 9 years. I have never been treated worse in my whole life than the one at this mall. Because I love visible changes I waited almost two hrs for my appt. only to have my appt start 15 minutes late and to be quoted one price and get a price hike up of 35% at the register. The cashier who got an attitude with me, as well as what I think they called a mgr, can go to hell. I hope someone out there in the service field gives them as shitty service like they gave me. Horrible experience. When I made my apt. I asked for a stylist who was the 2nd to top level. I went in for light blonde highlights and now I have yellow highlights with an orange base where I used to have dirty blonde hair. I've been getting blonde highlights for years and have gotten better results trying to do this myself at home as a teenager. I should have been worried when during my apt. another stylist came up and was talking to my stylist about how my stylist had messed up another customer's hair last week- but I was in the chair and had a half of a head in foils at this time so there wasn't much I could have done anyways. I haven't been this unhappy with my hair in a very long time. To top it off, I have pictures scheduled for this weekend that I think I'm going to have to reschedule now and lose money on because my hair looks that bad. It was just simple blonde highlights- she did the highlights in yellow and added toner (which Ive had before and have NEVER gotten an orange result before). It just looks awful and no way am I going back to have them take another whack at ruining my hair some more. I will now end up spending double to go elsewhere and have it fixed. Very disapointing. And to top it off- after my apt. I had to hunt the girl down in the midst of the circus show that is Visible Changes on a Saturday to give her a tip- and she just took it without a thank you or a smile. I've been going here for years to get my hair done. My stylist Ashely, is the best! I trust her with my hair which is hard for me to do, since I have thick long hair and not many people can handle it. She does a great job and she gets a 5 star. The reason why I'm giving this place a star is because the people at the front are (9 out 10 times) RUDE. They don't even bother to put a smile on their face when you walk in. Two bad experiences: My son got his haircut by Pam who rushed him saying I haven't got all day when he was trying to show her the kind of haircut he wanted. Thinking they had a good price on Keratin Smoothing Treatment--I booked with another sylist. well--the complementary blow dry on day 3 didn't happen since they were "busy" and even though it was 5pm- they couldn't get me in with her before 9pm. It HAD to be done by original stylist--who I should note on the day she did my hair was late to start by 20 min.After I complained--the lady on the phone spoke to manger and said can't do anything then hung up on me. My husband surprised me this morning and booked a hair appointment for the both of us hair cut and a color change. So he was told that it would take 3hours for my appointment and 30-40 minutes for his hair cut. It's been 2 1/2 year's since I've done anything to my hair due to me wanting my natural hair for my wedding this past July. So he had everything planned for today. We got there and everything was going fine I was called back to start the dying process. I showed the lady the hair style I was wanting to do and I know working with bleach and dying dark hair takes a few treatments and it will get to where I want it over time. So she started ask how do I want it cut and in the process she started say you have a lot of hair this is going to be a lot to do. That's when I already knew she was not really wanting to do my hair. She said she'd be right back and sure enough here comes the manager taking me to the front asking if I said I was wanting this much done to my hair and him saying well we can get you a hair cut done today I don't think she has time to dye it. Then he asked her in front of me do you have time she said no I'd have to do it another time. I was just so upset that my husband did all this just just to be told that they did have time. I'm not upset that it would take a few treatments to get me to where I want my hair to be. I'm just upset that she didn't even try she was so quick to push me off to someone else. Stay away from this place! You don't always get what you pay for. I went in thinking I would pay around 35 for my haircut and ended up paying $58 for a shampoo I told her I didn't want, but she said it was needed. I told her I didn't want it styled because I was just gonna home and shower (she left hair all over my face). She said well you need to know how it's gonna look so I said ok whatever. She didn't only style it, she curled it, so that was an extra $12 dollars! I asked her to cut more of the bangs and she said no because they would be too short. I had showed her a picture of what I wanted which was side bangs and to cut about 2 inches off my hair with lots of layers.
