To begin with, they originally advised us that the move itself would take 2 hours to move some furniture into a small one bedroom apartment. When it was all said and done, it took them over 6 hours to complete the job. I can certainly understand being an hour or so off, but 4 hours beyond the estimated time is completely unreasonable. As for the move itself, the two movers were bickering the entire time and constantly cursing in front of my toddler. It took them 20 minutes to try to move a couch through the front door, and they even managed to chip some wood off the door frame as they were doing so. When confronted, they advised me to call apartment maintenance. Furthermore, their handling of my furniture left a little to be desired. I am not sure if they were in a hurry to leave, but they often dropped much of the furniture and moving boxes on the floor without any consideration for potentially damaging it. Upon completion of the job, they insisted upon cash, even though I advised them I did not have any cash on me when the move began. I offered to give them my credit card as payment but they advised me that their credit card machine was "broken." I also offered to transfer money via Zelle or through a bank transfer, but that was also refused. When it was all said and done, we finally agreed that payment could be made using Venmo. They may have been a little cheaper than the other moving companies, but the potential savings is not worth the headache. Lesson learned.

I will happily recommend Bookstore to family and friends and will never use another moving company. Their strength, kindness, commitment and pride in their job and the company, organization, efficiency as a crew (this was amazing to watch- they just flowed as a team of 5 and Patrick was an excellent leader!), was consitent and apparent throughout the entire time they spent with us. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!
