I've experienced nothing but constant appearance-based discrimination at Total Wine. I own a…read moresuccessful construction company and am constantly dismissed when asking for help and eyed-down by the managers at the booth when walking in, and even some cashiers. Nicholas/Nick was particularly rude. He nearly barked at me to go to another lane when he saw that I had a "create-your-own-six-pack" of beer that he presumably thought was too tedious to have to individually scan. There was no cashier at the other "open" register and I told him that, but he rudely insisted that the register was, in fact, open, but that there was just no one there to assist me! What helpful pedantry, Nicholas! Bravo! I don't dress particularly poorly or wear dirty clothes, either: usually nice jeans and a hoodie or a flannel. I never look like I'm fresh off of a job site. Basically, no different than anyone else running errands at Target or HomeGoods, next door. At any rate, I've shopped here periodically over the last twelve years or so, and it's clear that if you don't dress like a milquetoast there to buy a case of wine (nothing against wine, but you know exactly the sort of moneyed-looking stereotype I'm talking about) they dismiss you, ignore you, watch you as if you're going to shoplift as you walk the aisles or argue with you if you ask a question that betrays the fact that you're not a total wine snob (pun intended). Once, I had the gall to ask where the vermouth was about a year ago, and the sales associate snobbishly told me that it was "over near the reds, where we always keep it, OBVIOUSLY!" in an incredibly condescending tone. That said, some of the cashiers (red polos) are perfectly nice, but a lot of the white-shirts (managers and/or sales associates, I suppose) are the ones who are quite snobby and dismissive. The disconcerting thing is that if you look back through the reviews of this location and others in the area, there's a consistent stream of negative reviews complaining about similar appearance-based discrimination and mistreatment. They clearly are trained to seek out and help people who look a certain way, who are inclined to spend more money on wine, and not beer. In essence, if you don't look like you have both the money and inclination to purchase a few cases of vintage Bourdeaux, don't bother attempting to shop there, or God forbid, ask for help finding something or getting rung up. I guess I've just bought my last six-pack from "Total & Complete Snobbery & More!". Seems like they don't want beer money and have a dress code to enter their incredibly classy suburban strip mall taupe-colored "wine boutique" with all the ambience of a small ethnic corner grocery, anyways. I certainly wouldn't judge anyone if I slung booze in such surroundings, especially if I was doing it while wearing a cheap white dress shirt a size too large and a chunky dad tie, either.

We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. We were offered a large booth, which was appreciated as we needed space for the babies. The food here tasted quite good. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. Our waitress was a bit MIA during the first part of our meal when we were trying to order, and then kept checking in on us every 5 minutes once our food arrived. We also had to remind her a few times to get a high chair for our little one. Fortunately, the food and drinks all arrived accurately and within a timely manner once ordered. Service woes aside, the creative fare satisfied our taste buds and we look forward to returning soon for to sample more of the brunch menu and libations.

We were slightly nervous because no reservations were available online. However, upon check in we were seated immediately. Parallel offers seating at tables or the bar with a low light upscale vibe. The menu was quite impressive with a wide variety of options available. We tried a few of the appetizers and desserts which we found to be delicious. Our meals were decent portions with stunning presentations. I will say service was on the slower side, and that our waiter did have to be reminded about a couple requests. All and all a great spot for a night out with friends!

Found it -- it's The Lost Fox in Ashburn! Here's a short positive review:…read more A Gem in Ashburn -- The Lost Fox Delivers Every Time The Lost Fox is hands down one of the best spots in Ashburn. The cozy atmosphere, stone hearth, and warm decor make it the perfect place for a date night, a special occasion, or just a great evening out. The food is outstanding. The crab dip, the housemade pasta, and the burger are all incredible -- clearly made with real care and quality ingredients. The cocktails are equally impressive and keep pace with the food perfectly. The variety of seating -- dining room, lounge, patio, rooftop, and fire-pit areas -- means there's a perfect spot for any vibe, whether you want something intimate and quiet or lively with live music on the weekends. Service was warm and attentive, and the whole experience felt genuinely special without being stuffy. This place has become my go-to recommendation for anyone visiting the area. Don't sleep on The Lost Fox -- it's a true Ashburn treasure.

It projects an English modern cabin vibe, but with a touch on whimsy (see mustache coat hangers on booths!). The fireplace is centrally located and gives off an essence of coziness. Complimenting the ambiance, the service was great! The server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations. We came for brunch and ordered the breakfast burger and pork belly breakfast sandwich. We also split the avocado toast as a starter (we were starving!). The avocado toast was perfectly prepared - toast was cripsy on the outside and chewy and thick on the inside. Ample smattering of smashed avocado with the fixin's. The burger was very good and my friend said they would totally order it again. The pork belly breakfast sandwich held together perfectly despite the inside being heavy. Pork belly remained perfectly crunchy and it had a heavy helping of melted cheese that was not overpowering. Brunch was amazing and we want to go back and experience the patio when it's warmer and also some live music! Such a great vibe and good food!

There there is an Olive Garden nearby so it isn't out by itself, even if it feels like it. The weather was beautiful, so we grabbed a high top in the bar area, overlooking a nice little pond behind the restaurant. The service in the bar was surprisingly good, despite the bar itself being pretty crowded and nearly every table around it being populated. The food was served quickly and they allowed us to customize to our liking (TIP: pay the nominal upcharge to replace your existing side dish to Brussels sprouts with bacon and spiced pecans! Or get it as a side to share) I had the Hickory Grilled Hanger Steak with mashed potatoes and a field greens salad, except no potatoes. The salad was amazing (it has dates in it for a sweetness to balance the sour of the dressing) and the medium rare steak was phenomenal. We each had a glass of beer -- the Pale Face Summer Wheat on draft. It is a classic German Hefeweizen and described as "malty with banana and clove flavors." I tested the banana on my first sip. It was a solid choice. The next day, we worked a 15 hour day without stopping to eat. By the time we finished, we were so tired that we agreed to return. I ordered the same steak and my coworker followed my recommendation. He agreed that this is the steak to order. (even if he ordered his more well done than mine). For the second visit, we ordered the bread pudding for dessert instead of beer with dinner. I suggest splitting the dessert. Don't get me wrong, it was fantastic, but was definitely shareable after a full steak meal.
