Weekday chinese food!
Andrea L.

Great family run diner that John Wooden and Bill Walton used to frequent. I love the breakfast burrito here with avocado. It has hash browns in it and is grilled on the outside. Big brunch menu. Also has outdoor dining. Big parking lot in the back with 90 minute ticketed validation. Lovely staff. This place feels like it's for insiders, and hey, now you know!

Just found my go-to breakfast place. The place was packed but we got seated within 5 minutes. The staff were very attentive and personable. They greeted us warmly. My family of 4 ordered loco micro, chicken & waffles, breakfast burrito, and pork chop & eggs. The chicken & waffles and the burrito were my family's favorites. The hazelnut latte with oat milk was terrific.

My significant other and I had such a great time recently at VIP Café! It was our first time visiting, although we've known about the restaurant, and that Coach John Wooden dined here, for a long time. I had an appointment in the neighborhood, so we decided to stop by afterward. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted right away and made to feel like we were regulars. We got to pick our own table and once we did, someone stopped by right away to give us menus and take our drink orders. The menu is big and we let our server know it was our first time visiting. There is so much to choose from, so we needed a couple of minutes to see all the options. It was finally between a couple of things for us, and we asked for recommendations. I was told that the hollandaise sauce on the benedicts was really good, and I decided to go with the Irish Benedict, which had corned beef hash. It was delicious and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked! The home fries were so good...crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I loved the various memorabilia on the walls, especially everything related to Coach John Wooden. Several years ago, I had a chance to meet Coach, and he holds a special place in my heart. The overall vibe at the restaurant was friendly and welcoming. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was top-notch coffee shop cuisine. We loved meeting Paul, who was very kind. I would love to go back and try some of the lunch and Chinese options. We had parked on the street but were told that they validate in the parking area behind the restaurant. We'll keep that in mind for our next visit.

Family owned restaurant where service is top notch. It's nothing fancy just eat breakfast brunch café. There were so many things on the menu. They even have Chinese food on your menu if you wanna mix it up. Luckily I went with enough people that I was able to try other dishes. From the moment we checked in, to getting seated, getting our food or to enjoy each bite, it was just all around great way to start the day with a delicious breakfast. We went on a Sunday and they had validated parking.

Unassuming, you'd never expect a place located in an office building to have great service, and great food. They seem to have a lot of people who are regulars, they've got cute decor with photos of 90s and then some celebrities... a bit fun to try to guess who these people are... anywho. Both times I was here I had Chinese food for breakfast. First time was chicken broccoli and the second time was the wonton soup. Not the best but it hit the spot especially since finding Asian food at a restaurant early in the morning isn't exactly easy. They've got good coffee, and they cook their eggs just right. I would highly recommend this place and from the looks of it, so would many other people!

Such a cute little diner! Came in around noon and was promptly sat. I opted for an iced vanilla caffe latte and the bacon breakfast burrito, while my partner ordered the hungry combo and upgraded the biscuits to a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes. The burrito was grilled, and it gave it a nice crunch. The stuffing was great. As for my partner's entree, I definitely found my favorite. Everything was fantastic, and the pancakes were fluffy and yummy. Will definitely come back!

Ask the Community - VIP's Cafe

Does this place offer a form of digital or online payment?

No they do not.

Is it dog friendly?

Yes. They have a nice patio and usually bring a bowl of water for our dog when we're there.

Was this formerly known as the Pantry Shelf in the 80's?

No. Thomas's

My family and I are having a debate: is it VIP's as in Very Important Person, or is it VIP's as in someone named Vip owns the place? In other words, should we pronounce each letter of VIP or is it more of a roll-off-the-tongue Vip's?

Lol it’s called V I P by all of us in the valley as far as I know. I hope this helps you!! :-)

Do they have bottomless mimosas?

No they don't :(

Just like my first time here; I was amazed at how delicious their pancakes truly are! Me and friends each other a breakfast entree and an extra pancake dish to share; I swear I was full for 2 days major carb overload. Will I do it again? YES! haha. the only downside is the fact that I have yet to try their soufflé pancakes due to their high demand they can take 45m-1hr to prepare! The place stays busy but we were sit quite fast; I want to say we waited 15-20 minutes.

Let me begin by saying that most of the food here is very, very, very well prepared and very, very,…read morevery good. What baffles me is the service. The last time I came here it was about five years ago, when it was still CiCi's. What I remember about that last time was how long it took us to get our food. I ordered steak and eggs, and when we asked when our food was coming, our waitress stared at me and said, "Well you ordered the steak . . . ". As if it was my fault that the food was taking a very long time. Regardless, when the food finally came, it was very good. However, the price point and the service was enough for me not to go back for a very long time. Until today. There are two seats on the very far left end of the bar that are lower than the regular bar seating. The hostess gave us menus promptly. There is a tall waitress working there who wears large glasses. Her hair was pulled back tightly. I'm not sure if she's is Asian or Hispanic. I'm not saying that to throw any shade at her ethnicity whatever it is I'm just saying that to try to describe who this person is. I have never in my life, been looked at so sourly and exasperatedly by a waitress as I have when this waitress saw my boyfriend and I sitting at the bar. No smile. Maybe she was upset because I had to flag her down because we had been sitting there waiting for someone to ask us if we wanted anything to drink. I asked for two coffees and two waters. She brought us the waters, and I never spoke to her again. Another waitress was kind enough to bring us our coffees after that. We waited a little while to order and yes, it was busy, but there were at least two or three people behind the bar at all times and I know they have other customers in the restaurant to serve so that doesn't bother me at all. So there was a third woman who took our order. We waited and waited and waited for our food. They did refill our coffee. After a while, I finally asked is our food coming? I was told let me go check by a fourth person. That fourth person returned and said that our food would be up soon. 10 minutes later I asked again if our food was coming. I understand certain things that take a long time like any of the pancake soufflés, but we did not order any soufflé pancakes. When I asked the second time when our food was coming, again, that person went to the kitchen to ask. When that person came back, they said oh it's not ready because you ordered the steak. The exact same thing they told me the last time we were here five years ago as to why our food was taking so long. I order my steak, medium rare every time it does not take that long to make a medium rare steak. Regardless, when I got my food, it was delicious. They forgot the side order of potatoes (because God forbid steak and eggs comes with potatoes) but I told them not to worry about it because I didn't wanna have to wait another 30 minutes to get them. My entree also came with a crêpe, and when they asked me what kind of crêpe I wanted, I asked for a Nutella crêpe. You know what they give you? A bone dry crêpe with whipped cream and a few drops of Nutella. I'm pretty sure that Nutella is supposed to go inside the crêpe not just a couple drops on top of it with a big giant dollop of whipped cream. And just because I feel like it, you know what's really low rent for a place with these prices? Tossing a to-go plastic disposable container of A1 on the plate with the steak and eggs. Seriously? You don't have a small little ceramic ramekin that you could at least put the A1in? I feel like that was put there just to fill up the plate because they don't give you any potatoes. Kind of a classless move. So like I said before, the food was very good and I'm sure it always will be. But when the waitress looks at you like you ruined her day, it reminds me why I haven't come back for years. Then when I really WANT to support that local business again, history of repeats itself. I don't like being blamed for my food taking forever because it's what I ordered. That is completely ridiculous and not the customers fault. So just be prepared for dirty looks and even if it's not that busy you're still gonna wait a long time for your food and maybe it'll be worth it but that's up to you.

We arrived 8:30am on a Saturday morning and it was already busy but not busy enough to where we were seated right away. In and out in 40min which is perfect! I always get the caramel latte, which I love, and today my friend ordered the mocha. For breakfast, I had the French Toast Combo with two pieces of French toast, two eggs, and three strips of bacon. It was a LOT of food! They were also able to scramble my eggs with milk, which I really appreciated because it makes them so much fluffier. I also really appreciated that my eggs and bacon were served on a separate plate from my French toast. It's a small detail, but I loved that everything wasn't all piled together. My friend ordered the Belgian Omelette with tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon, and cheddar. I took a photo of the outside, but the photo definitely doesn't show just how packed this omelette was! The staff is always friendly, and I love that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I honestly don't think I've ever sat inside because sitting outside by the fountain is such a nice way to enjoy breakfast, especially in the cooler morning hours. If you're looking for a breakfast place with generous portions, lots of variety, and consistently good food, More Than Waffles is definitely worth a visit. They serve lunch too, although breakfast is clearly the star of the menu. I haven't tried lunch yet, but considering how consistent everything else has been, I'll have to give it a try one of these days!
