Not what we expected to find in a Hilton. First off, the name is deceiving. This is not a wine bar. In fact, they have very little wine. They have very little food as well. Second, this place was a bit divey force Hilton. Third, the menu was very limited, burgers, wings, salad and a few appetizers. Maybe 10 items in all. Not the what we expected from the description in our hotel room. And the prices were high. We got the wings and a salad. Both were passable...Maybe because we were hungry and there were not alot of nearby options at 9 pm. The server/bartender (yeah one person took care of drinks and served the entire place) told us they were remodeling and rebranding. Not sure it this was the new or old concept. For a hotel restaurant this place was quite nice. I had the big burger (which I cut in half and it served for two meals). It was really good, it had a bit of the Texas barbecue flavour to it! It came with thick bacon, egg, avocado, and a fried jalapeño, hence why this was two meals! I got the sweet potato fries with it and I would have put more salt on them, otherwise they were good and crispy! Service was fast, and friendly! So needless to say I have frequented this little place inside the Hilton both while waiting on Chris and after their quarterly meeting because their president buys everyone including me drinks!! They have a nice little menu going on; the burgers are huge and delicious. The sliders are delish as well and juicy. The quesadillas are really good also. This is not a large space nor is it cramped; it is intimate, I feel good for a nice romantic meal. The have a good selection on spirits and beers, and the bartenders are really nice and helpful, especially if ur indecisive as me, lol. Tonight I'm planning on my usual DiSarrono Sour! read more

Vino - Blackberry Mojito - Wine Bars Near Me - Houston, Texas

While staying in the Hilton Houston North, I had the opportunity to eat at Vino twice. Its a nice wine bar with a limited but complete menu, good service, and a nice atmosphere. The first night I had an appetizer of polenta-crusted scallops with gorgonzola cheese and beets. The scallops were perfectly seared and had that nice melty consistency, not chewy or rubbery at all. Very tasty. The second night I had the ahi tuna, which was overcooked for my taste (I'd asked for it rare and it came out medium) but still very good. They had an extensive wine list, but seemed to be out of several wines, which was unfortunate. However, I did enjoy a Texas Hill Country wine that I had never tasted, so that was nice. As fully described in my review of the restaurant, I did have an accidental double charge on my card after eating here the first night, probably due to operator error by the bartender. So check your finances when you get home just to be sure, but it was likely a one off. The service I got was excellent, and props to the bartender for remembering my name the 2nd night. As far as hotel bar/restaurants go, this one is better than many. Pricing is definitely hotel bar-ish, and if you have no plans for dinner its a FAR better option than exploring the neighborhood, which is less than stellar. But its probably really only good if you're staying in the hotel or work at one of the many office buildings on the block and need a spot for a drink or quick meal after work. read more

Vino was a necessity while staying at the Hilton Houston North. Since there is nothing around the hotel except for the abandoned mall, wine in the evenings became routine at Vino and was a nice place to watch college basketball since I was at a conference during March Madness. Not sure why they planned it that way, but I digress... Vino has a large array of wines, and the bartender seems to have a decent clue about the wine which is a plus. The menu is tiny and did not offer vegetarian items so I did not partake in dining at Vino. So, since this review is about wine and a place to drink wine, I will say that it was nice to have it around, and I couldn't have done without it since there were no other options, but I wouldn't venture out of my way to go to it again if I were in Houston. read more

Bottom line up front; They can do a lot better job here, and I hope they do because I stay at the hotel a lot for work! I must say the chicken ceased salad is awful, and it is so difficult to screw that up. I really wish Hilton Management would read this and improve it, because when I get in from work late I don't have time to eat elsewhere. Most of the main courses are bland or poorly put together. I did have a salmon with asparagus two weeks ago which was nicely done, but that has been about it. The kitchen is far away and service is a bit slow. Reasonable bar with a SMAL menu; not 1/4 of what's in the picture. The burger I had was fine. What was disappointing is that Hilton says this place has small plates etc. It doesn't. Go somewhere else. Awful service. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes before one of the bartenders noticed I was there, and the bar wasn't even half full. They brought me my beer and didn't bring a receipt or tell me how much the beer was (I didn't open a tab either). Maybe it was free? Fortunately I'm a good person and when I finished my beer I got the bartenders attention, because they don't pay attention to their customers, and paid for my beer. It was 1 bottle of shiner, for $5.50. A couple of us were watching a playoff hockey game on the tv and then they turned the tv's off 15 minutes prior to closing (midnight). I politely asked the bartender if he could leave it on until they closed and he said no, they have to get ready to close. It takes 2 seconds to pick up a remote and turn a tv off. I read all of the negative reviews and it's true there is no other place inside the hotel to eat dinner. Guys, it really wasn't bad. They did say that the menu is new. Service was a little slow, but they were busy. The waitstaff was friendly. We had potato skins as an appetizer- decent. I had the philly chicken Sammie and my work associate had the cheeseburger. We would order either or both again. It's not a place you would rave about or seek out if you weren't staying on the property, but it truly was a fine experience. read more

This place is a wreck. Run down Hilton which used to be a convention center is now a defunct biz hotel near the airport. Weird 80s vibe in the rooms and it spreads into the Vino restaurant which is a sports bar with TVs blaring. Food is sourced from the Hilton restaurant which is only open for breakfast, lunch and room service. Typical hotel fare. Bartenders very nice. Big "Olive Garden" style pours on wine as I'm sure the bar staff feels your pain as they have to stay until 12am. I saw 2 other people from 7-10 while I sat here. read more

This is the hotel restaurant at the houston north Hilton. You're kind of stuck with it because the surrounding area is kind of hood. It's known as greenspoint which locals call gunspoint. I've eaten here three times. The first time I get the strip steak sandwich. Overall the steak was tough. Second was the chicken melt which was awesome. Third I splurged on the herb seared strip and was very disappointed with what I got for what it cost. Drinks are kind of expensive too. $10 for a glass of wine. Really? Overall if you're at the hotel and you must eat there get one of the cheaper items. What you get for the pricy ones just isn't worth it read more

I can only comment on the happy hour (until 6pm)- drink specials are $4 beer, $5 wine and $6 appetizers. I got the wings and the calamari. The food took about 15/20 minutes to come out, the wings came out Luke warm/cold and were way too salty. The heat level was ok but after 3 wings I had to stop because it just tasted so salty. The calamari was odd in that it wasn't the normal rings I've seen in other restaurants but rather mostly flat pieces and a few (maybe 3) rings, the portion size was a bit on the small size and the sauce it was tossed/drenched in, is WAY too sweet. The main redeeming factor was the attentive and friendly waiter..I'll probably be back when I'm in the hotel but only for drinks.. read more

I had the unfortunate luck of eating here twice before I learned my lesson. The first time I ordered the Chicken Avocado Sandwich - the chicken was very dry, and the only hint of moisture in the entire sandwich came from the sad slice of avocado. There was little to no mayo or any other toppings to redeem the sandwich. A few days later I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad (shame on me) and the chicken breast tasted exactly like the one from the sandwich - dry, flavorless, and resembling cardboard. The rest of the salad had little to no dressing, so I had to channel my inner rabbit just to finish all the dry leaves. On top of all this, they accidentally charged me twice, and after 4 days the restaurant manager has yet to get back to me even though I am still staying in the hotel. I can't speak towards the bar, but the restaurant is sub-par. You're better off just getting an Uber to somewhere else. Better yet, just don't stay at this hotel. read more

After getting to eat here whilst visiting because of a business trip I have learned my lesson :( I ordered the most expensive steak they had and asked for it Blue rare (those who do not work in the did industry, this is pretty much raw) The waiter was confused, but I expected the chef to know. My steak was brought back Medium. I set it back and asked for Blue rare again, explaining to the waiter. My steak was brought back by the chef Medium rare. I'm not one to make a scene and my dinner guest was already finished with her food so I just accepted it. For a fancy restaurant and me ordering a $40 steak, I should have been able to have it how I wanted it. Quite disappointing, I'd never go back. read more

I unfortunately got trapped here due to a mistake on United/Continental's side, but damn, Vino serves a mean filet mignon wrapped in panchetta. That's right, one of the best cuts of meat in the world rolled in even more awesome, tasty, slightly crisp, but mostly juicy meat. I also shared a massive bibb lettuce salad that was very fresh and very tasty. The service was great. I love that hotel food service yo, no bitches up in this joint. I found this place on Yelp while I was staying in the area for a conference. I didn't feel like fighting the traffic, so I wanted some place close to my hotel. I was very satisfied with Vino. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a modern touch. The menu isn't chock full of 300 entrees. It has a few choices in each category, and it brings a solid product. If I can give this place zero stars I would. From the start I knew this was going to be an awful experience to have dinner. You walk in and there are no clean tables to sit at. No one to introduce themselves or the restaurant. You are then seated. You are expected to quickly order your drink and move quickly through the menu to select your desires. The menu has horrible options. I stuck with the soup and sandwich, as I was afraid to order the other highly priced items. No one was eating there. My other two parties ordered a Cesar salad. Food took a good hot minute to get these items prepared. For a soup, grilled cheese sandwich, and salads. Soup was horrible. Tasted as if it's been sitting there all night. The cheese from the sandwich was not melted, still cold. The salad dressing tasted bitter and sour, spoiled. We returned the salad and just wanted to end the meal with just two other semi prepared grilled cheese sandwiches instead of leaving with empty stomachs. In the end, horrible service, awful food, and good laughs at how this place is still open. read more

I was actually dropped in unexpectantly to inquire within regarding a possibility for Vino to host an event. The bar waiter and floor waitress received me well and were willing to answer any of my questions and provided me with the contact persons necessary to follow up with my future event planning. The bar dinning and staff was so warm, I decided to have dinner for the evening. ...nice, quiet, dimmed lights with wall flat screen television also made it inviting. I noticed the restuarant dinning area welcomed a varied clientele from a family of four to a business meeting of three in a semi-private quad area. With even such a cliente, the area still remained quiet. It was Friday and I wanted to keep it healthy going into the weekend. The waitress was very helpful in assisting me with my healthy meal selection and was very knowledgeable about the menu ingredients and recommended the best entree selection to meet my needs. I enjoyed the salmon with pesto sauce, asparagus and couscous (sp?). It was a fine dinner meal prepared by their top chef. A perfect 3 course meal for a first dinner date. The only down side to my experience was that I had to wait alittle while for the waitress to initially bring water with lemon and to bring my receipt. She was a friendly waitress that loved to talk. Redfish with risotto was excellent, maybe a tad overcooked, but great flavor. I was welcomed in my traveling clothes (jeans and a t-shirt) the same as other business-dressed patrons. My first night coming here I was so hungry, I decided to give this place a try. I ordered their special, which was the meat loaf with a side of mash and mix veggies. I also had a glass of Cabernet. The place seemed very slow yet the food took forever to come. I started digging in once the food finally came out. The mash potato tasted watered down and was completely bland and so were the steam/boiled veggies. No salt! The meatloaf itself wasn't bad but the sauce they drenched it in was very over powering. I was so hungry so I finished it anyways. I would think the food would taste better when you're really hungry but that was not the case. I would have never ate that meal if I wasn't so hungry. The server never once checked on me. After I was done, I just had my card out waiting to pay. She never bothered asking how everything was. I work for Marriott so I was excited to see how service at Hilton would be and I was not impressed. Im not even going to start with breakfast food/service. Staying here for a whole month and this is my only option. read more

I stayed the first weekend of March at the Hilton. Since there is nothing around the Hilton Houston North to go eat other than some fast foods a couple of blocks away it's then a necessity to eat at Vino's. It was a busy Thursday night but it took nearly an hour to place an order and another 45 minutes to get the food. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Saturday I had drinks with some friends who were flying out and they ordered some food. After over an hour they cancelled the order as they had to leave for the flight. It's a shame that this is the only place anywhere near the Hotel to eat as they can do as the please and be damn the customer. read more

Cool hotel, everything else after that is awful. The bartender Jennifer is awful. Her service completely sucks, paid our bill and then they tried to charge us an additional $40 after wards. I will pay my tab no problem but this chick had no idea what she is doing. Simply said your business will suffer and continue to fail if this girl is running your bar. I will dispute the additional charge through my credit card company but it's embarrassing when someone comes up to after you have closed out your tab and makes you pay more for no reason at all. I would recommend hiring people that are cognizant of what people actually order and treat people the way they should be treated when they come to a local business. I will not recommend this place to ANYONE that visits the Hilton North in Houston. Feel free to contact me for any issues because I will gladly speak to anyone.
