Again, with so many open tables, I wish we had been seated a little farther away. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were great overall, although there was a small mix-up with my brother's Old Fashioned--it came with crushed ice instead of up as requested. For dinner, we ordered two chicken entrées and two scallop entrées. The scallops were cooked perfectly and were definitely the standout entrée. Unfortunately, the chicken was a bit dry, especially considering the price. One thing I have to mention is the salt bread. It isn't complimentary, but it is absolutely worth ordering. It was hands down my favorite thing we ate and worth every penny. The view is truly unbeatable and is the main reason to dine here. Watching the sunset over the valley is absolutely beautiful and creates a wonderful atmosphere. Just be prepared for a higher bill than you might expect for the overall dining experience. Overall, we had a nice evening and would return, especially for the view, the scallops, and that incredible salt bread.

A Wonderful First Experience at Tasty Indian Bistro…read more Tonight was my first visit to Tasty Indian Bistro, and what started as simply wanting to try a new Indian restaurant turned into an absolutely wonderful dining experience. First, the restaurant itself is beautiful. It is spacious, clean, thoughtfully designed, and comfortable, including very nice and spacious restrooms. What I especially appreciated was how much room there is between tables. You never feel as though you are sitting on top of the people around you. That makes this restaurant remarkably versatile. I could easily see coming here for a date night, dinner with friends or family, a business meeting, a larger group gathering, or simply having a quiet meal by yourself. There is enough space that you can actually have a conversation without feeling that everyone around you is part of it. But as nice as the surroundings are, the hospitality may have impressed me even more. My server, Ashmini, was exceptional. She was professional, warm, knowledgeable and genuinely engaging. Since this was my first visit and I wasn't familiar with everything on the menu, she patiently answered my questions, explained the different foods and sauces, and continually made sure I was enjoying my experience. And it wasn't just Ashmini. From the owner to the other members of the team, there seemed to be a genuine commitment to taking care of people. It reminded me of something I experienced growing up in the islands: hospitality treated as a profession. There is a difference between simply serving someone food and making someone feel genuinely welcomed. Tonight I felt welcomed. And then there was the food. I started with papad (also called papadum), the wonderfully thin and crispy Indian lentil cracker, accompanied by several chutneys, including the bright herbal mint chutney and the sweet-and-tangy tamarind chutney. For dinner, I had: Butter Chicken -- tender chicken in an incredibly rich, creamy tomato-and-butter sauce. Comfort food on an entirely different level. Basmati Rice -- light, fragrant long-grain rice that was perfect for soaking up that wonderful butter chicken sauce. Garlic Naan -- warm, slightly charred bread fresh from the high-heat oven, with garlic and herbs. Tearing off a piece of naan and scooping up that butter chicken sauce may have been my favorite part of the entire meal. Everything worked beautifully together. What also has me intrigued is their buffet. The restaurant currently offers a daily lunch buffet from 11:30 AM-3:00 PM, plus a Monday and Wednesday dinner buffet from 4:30-9:30 PM, currently advertised at $16.95 plus tax. That's a particularly great option for someone new to Indian cuisine because you can sample several dishes and discover what you like. I am already thinking about coming back Wednesday evening and bringing Linda so we can explore some things I didn't try tonight. For someone who has been curious about Indian food but isn't quite sure what to order, this would be a terrific place to begin. Don't be intimidated by an unfamiliar menu. Ask questions. Try something new. Let the staff guide you. Tonight they certainly guided me well. Excellent food. Beautiful surroundings. Impeccable service. Genuine hospitality.
