Modern, open restaurant with healthy choices & decent pricing. Gave this place a shot after receiving a gift card, and was mildly disappointed even though I didn't have the highest expectations. Overall, I enjoyed my dish, which was an ahi tuna bowl. However, the avocado used was not quite edible (lots of brown spotting & was extremely firm) & the parts of the wild rice didn't seem to be cooked all the way as there were lots of hard pieces. That being said, I enjoyed the seared ahi and the rest of the dish with no problem. The kind & quick service that I received when picking up my order also made up for any issues that I had. I'll definitely be giving this place another try, and would recommend it to those looking for a healthy alternative. read more

During a visit to Key West, I was delighted to eat an acai bowl at a restaurant near the marina and was pleasantly surprises when I saw that a restaurant in New Bern offered the item on their menu. Not only was I dissapointed in the results but the price value was was not there. I friend tried to dissuade me from going to Vine as he also had a disappointed experience but I plowed on hoping against hope that I jad found my answer. My bowl had very little fruit, almost no fiber and the balance had melted. It's very possible Vine has no idea what an acai bowl is supposed to have in it but its no excuse for lack of ingredients and charge $10 plus (taxes). I am so done. I am guessing their clientele comes in once and never returns as 2 out of two is not a good omen. read more

Used to go here at least once a week but the past few times I was disappointed. I usually get the salmon bowl and the salmon is always dry. Clearly fresh fish is not used. Then recently the mango in the bowl was past it's prime and tasted tangy like when fruit turns bad. My daughter gets the chicken kabob and complains it's dry and today said the sauce on it wasn't good any ore. Now a BBQ sauce with a little spice. This was one of our go to places. read more

So disappointed in the service and our meal. We ordered avocado toast to go. They charge an additional "to-go" fee... which is not a huge deal, but their avocado toast is way overpriced for the quality we received. There was also avocado peel in the smashed avocado... the avocado tasted rancid. The bread was soggy and the sausage was spongy. Very disappointed as they advertise themselves as providing a high-quality menu... this was far from high quality. My husband and I own a superfood smoothie shop in a small town and we always get excited about trying new places. I can't understand some of the other reviews... the service was outstanding! All of the staff were friendly, attentive and went out of their way to make our experience fun and pleasant. The food was delicious! I had avocado toast, the pitaya smoothie bowl, and my husband had the purple veggie bowl with quinoa. The whole aesthetic of this cafe is very pleasing. They did so well in decorating it. They have smoothies, juices and food. (Maybe more items than that, but I was only going for a smoothie so that's all I really focused on). Somewhat high prices, but when you consider what you are getting and the freshness of the ingredients and what they're offering, it's definitely priced accurately to what it should be. We were very excited to try this restaurant as my husband and I have been practicing clean eating. We were so happy to see an eating establishment here in New Bern with good healthy food. We eat a late lunch/early dinner so we were there around 3:30pm. The dining room was stark but clean and the staff were friendly. I ordered the ahi tuna poke bowl with wild rice. My husband ordered fillet steak and shrimp with roasted potatoes. My "poke" was not poke at all. It was raw unseasoned ahi tuna in a quite bizarre pile of disorganized cuts of fish with largely cut cucumber, whole raw spinach leaves, and old sliced radishes browning at the edges, on wild rice. The wild rice was good. Basic Poke should be marinaded in soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and sesame seeds. It was a pile of soulless raw fish. The cost was $15.99 which I would gladly pay for good poke. The shrimp my husband ordered was inedible. The texture was almost mushy and the flavor was strange. In fear of it being old shrimp and getting sick he chose not to eat it. The meat was cooked appropriately but lack seasoning or flare. The potatoes were soggy and pretty lack luster. Maybe microwaved?? The shrimp was brought to the staff's attention but it seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. Not looking for a free meal; just good food in a place that reflects a passion for their craft. The concept could be a winner. This place and the menu options seemed like it has the potential to be an awesome place for good healthy food. Unfortunately they seem to not possess the love and passion in their food. read more

This is a good (not great) restaurant. I ordered the BLAT sandwich at lunch. I probably waited 30-40 minutes for it to arrive (a bit long for the lunch crowd). Here's my complaint about the sandwich: the bacon was thick-sliced and fatty, which made it difficult to chew. So, my first bite pulled out a whole 6-inch slice of bacon. I usually don't eat my sandwiches with a steak knife and fork. My favorite BLTs or BLATs have thinly-sliced bacon that are crispy and layered (I realize this is a personal preference and that I may be in the minority). On the good side, I would rate the freshness of the other ingredients highly. I will never order the BLAT at Vine again, but I'm willing to go back and try different sandwiches. They must do something well! I'll let everyone know when they do. read more

The jackfruit tacos and grilled cheese tasted great, the falafel on the other hand was very bland and the pita was old and falling apart. Aside from that everything we got was cold, dry and very over priced in general. What was really irritating however was that we added a tip when ordering online only to find out that there is an automatic 15% "to go" gratuity (why anyone expects a tip for a to go order is beyond me). First, we are relatively new to the area. My wife has gone to Vine 10 times in the last 8 weeks and gotten take out orders. She has tipped 15% online every time. When she has picked up the food, she has been asked to sign a receipt for the food. The receipts allow for adding an additional gratuity. She explained to me that she has either has marked through the gratuity line every time before she signs or brought down the total without adding additional tip because she did not want to tip twice. Well, I just got through reviewing the email copies that automatically generated and sent to my wife and discovered that on EVERY single order, the gratuity was added TWICE, even though she marked through it on the receipt. I tried talking to the manager about this....granted, I did not have all of my facts straight when I talked to the manager, but in short, I was initially trying to give the restaurant at least SOME credit that my wife was adding the tip twice. Well anyway, when I was talking to the manager, she was absolutely the most ridiculously rude person I've ever spoken to...and I'm being serious. She would talk and I would listen quietly; however, when I started talking she would interrupt me over and over and over again. Never in my 57 year life have I had an experience like trying to talk to her. This note is primarily to the manager....you not only have personal conflict issues, but there is a serious issue you are having internally because the problem is far worse than I understood when I talked to you....extra tips have been added by your servers on literally every single take out order by my wife. I really could care less about the close to $40 of extra tips being inserted in her bills at this point. Keep it. We will never do business with you or your establishment again. read more

There was cheese on top and a drizzle of basal glaze. The salsa was missing and they forgot my salad. definitely not worth $27. Every time I drive through New Bern I stop at a new, local eatery. This place wasn't downtown like my usual stops, but I'm over the moon about my choice to dive in. The setting was crisp, clean and made me feel safer than most places at present. I ordered an açaí bowl for a snack on my trip and a power grain bowl for dinner later. I enjoyed my bowl on the sunny patio. The blend was so different than typical bowls. A sweet/tart base topped with crunch and pineapple. Extremely disappointed. My husband and I were looking for lunch, and excited to find that there was a "healthy food" option in New Bern. Service was seemingly overwhelmed with the customers, and I witnessed many patrons having to go to the counter to retrieve what they needed, despite this being a sit down service establishment. Our order was taken fairly promptly. It took about 15 minutes to receive 2 waters and an iced tea. Our waitress was soft spoken and kind. We ordered the turkey melt sandwich and chips and vegetable spring rolls, which come with a side salad. We waited about 45 minutes, after ordering, for our food, which was more time than we planned for a quick lunch. My husband received his sandwich, which was a wrap of some kind, not at all what he ordered, and had to ask for the chips, which had been forgotten. He asked the waitress about the wrap, because he knew he'd ordered a sandwich on a ciabatta roll. She replied "no, that comes in a wrap". He was going to be a sport, as he was hungry and we'd already waited so long.... Until he took a bite, and found the wrap to taste gross. He handed it to me, and I took a bite, it was almost flavorless minus an unidentifiable sweet flavor. My husband pushed it aside at this point and said "i can't eat that, it's disgusting". I had received my rolls, no dipping sauce comes with the dish and I told the waitress I'd like balsamic for my salad. She forgot to bring it back as she got busy at the counter. I went to collect my dressing, so I could eat my meal and noted on the board his turkey melt sandwich description.... Turkey, avocado, arugula, basil pesto, on a ciabatta roll... not what he received. So.... I asked my waitress, at the counter, for my salad dressing and pointed to the board saying that my husband did not receive what he ordered and he did not like what he received. She then showed me on her handheld that she had entered it in right. I had to say, ok, I believe you, BUT he didn't get the right sandwich. Another server came and told her what to do.... Go to the kitchen and tell them to make the right sandwich, basically. So, I returned and ate my meal, though my salad was half compost and inedible, and the vegetable rolls flavorless. If not for the iced tea, I may have thought I lost my sense of taste. I've never had such flavorless food. A little ginger or something, would do wonders! My husband got his correct sandwich, after I was done, and he was able to eat it, but it was virtually flavorless as well, not even a détection of basil. Even the turkey did not taste! It was weird. We paid the $24 and left, unsatisfied. We will not return. An expensive lunch to have only enjoyed the iced tea. Side note: Healthy food should be delicious, and does not need to be flavorless. I hope those trying to eat clean aren't put off by this establishment. Heathy food done right is wonderful and usually quite flavorful! read more

The food was absolutely amazing. I'm glad the portions were perfect for the price; not too big to leave you feeling stuffed and not too small to leave you hungry. The healthy meals were not at all a disappointment, they were extremely tasteful and seasoned well. Everything is made with "good-feeling" ingredients. The vegan menu is quite unique with the use of jackfruit as a meat substitute. Surprisingly jackfruit tastes great in a savory panini. The environment is great as well: very light and warm feeling and very clean. The service was quick and very pleasant and kind. I had the Free Range Chicken and Applewood Smoked Bacon Wrap. It was delicious and a very generous portion of chicken and bacon. The cheese was also very good. The side salad had a spring mix that was so fresh I could hear the fork pierce the lettuce. It also had halved grape tomatoes and sliced cucumbers. The place looks great with very clean lines and a sharp simplicity of design.Bright and Clean. White floors and walls highlighted by wonderful wood tones. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I want to love this place because of all the amazing vegan options, but my problem with vine is that every time I come in the employees seem to hate their job, or don't know exactly how to do their job. And in no way am I blaming the employees, but their higher ups need to provide a better work environment which includes training them correctly. Last time I came they gave me my food first, and they completely forgot about my two friends orders, we had been waiting almost 45 minutes on their food AFTER I had already gotten mine. Today, I was served my drink and she says "let me know if you need more ESSPRESSO" as a former barista for several years I know that means she doesn't know how many shots go into a drink per size. I received my falafel meal that was missing several ingredients that were listed. I think the management really needs to check on their employees and not only make sure everyone is on the same page and trained correctly.. But to make sure they're actually okay. I hope things get better because like I said, I really want to love this place! read more

I went in a few weeks ago to get a quick smoothie bowl in between work and getting into the carpool line...there was only one seated party and myself doing pickup, yet my smoothie bowl took 25 minutes to be ready :(. The girl that made it didn't add enough stuff for it to be thick and I literally ended up drinking it out of the bowl it was so liquid-y. I also watched the girl cut my banana topping with the same knife a different girl opened some boxes with just minutes before. I didn't have the time to stay and try to get another or anything, so I just removed the banana and drank the bowl. I think the girl making mine was new so I didn't want to embarrass her either, I know we all have to learn how to do things! I hate to say anything negative about this business because I want to love it so much, but I just never have service that I'm impressed with, and this experience was really disappointing. read more

Decent food, subpar employees. I've worked in the service industry and I'm definitely not a priss when it comes to customer service, but the employees seemed inconvenienced at the fact we were there. When my husband and I walked in, the girl who took our order immediately seemed annoyed that she would have to excuse herself from a conversation she was having with two girls at the bar. When I walked up to place my order, I said "Hey how are you doing today?" And the girl just looked at me with a blank face until I started my order. Then, when our order came out the server just placed our food on the table and walked away. I had the turkey sandwich and my husband had the chicken buffalo melt.
