Great spot to stop for coffee, and if you have time to sit and sip, it's great for that too. Love the ambiance of the interior. This was a great place to pop into during our day trip to Edenton for an afternoon pick me up. We got four drinks; peppermint coffee freeze, decaf cafe au lait, regular cafe au lait, and chai latte. The cafe au laits were very good. Warm, milky, and the coffee was not at all bitter. The peppermint coffee freeze was minty and refreshing. The chai was warm and full of spice. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. The coffee house itself is clean and eclectic. They have loads of goods to browse; food, home goods, town merch. Three words: disgusting, rude, and cramped. The bathroom was nasty. There was dirty sludge everywhere around the sink and toilet. The food was made incorrectly and staff fought us about it. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. read more

Stopped by this place to get some coffee and snack. Picked it based on recommendations by locals but got very disappointed Cozy place with lots of seating inside. It did worry me that there were not many people both inside and outside while the cafe across the street was packed. Tried the two options of espresso-based coffee: latte and espresso macchiato. Both were absolutely terrible. My friend had a sip and couldn't drink his macchiato at all. I tried to continue with my latte and finished 1/3 of it and then had to dump it too. It tasted like very-very watered instant coffee with milk. Absolutely terrible. On a bro that side, the cranberry orange muffin was very tasty. My friend joked that the muffin probably came from somewhere else. They also have lots of cute souvenirs for sale. read more

Wow, 2025 and some people still are stuck in racism. It was clear to me and my wife that we were not wanted in this establishment as people were looking at us wondering why we were simply trying to get breakfast. A couple of people were okay re customers, but that was about it. Add to that the limited menu and obvious sentiment, suffice it to say we will not visit this establishment again. Love this place so much! Along with the coffee, the whipped cream is AMAZING. I came here 3 times while I was in town for two weeks and ordered the same thing each time. I am a creature of habit and like what I like when it's good. First off, the coffee shop is very local with a number of tables and chairs to sit at and enjoy your order. In addition to a large variety of coffee/flavors, there are a number of bakery items and small a la carte items available. There are also so many packaged coffee options to go. Each time, I ordered a medium hot salted caramel latte with oat milk and, you guessed it, whipped cream. It comes out of a bag and probably straight from heaven. This was a wonderful way to start the day in downtown Edenton! Great coffee, fabulous eatery, and scrumptious treats that would make any heart sing! The staff were extremely friendly, the coffee shop was comfortable and inviting, and found it extremely homey with a perfect mix of locals and those wishing they were locals if only for a little while longer...I know I imagined what life would be like to live in a wonderful small town like this with so much rich history and nearby neighbors who take the time to wave, chat, or slowing down to stop and sit a spell on all these great wrap around porches that have perfect seating to see the sunset over the water as you enjoy great company! This town is so tiny that it is definitely THE coffee shop. No chain coffee place around here! The cafe is actually pretty big and spacious inside, with lots of tables, chairs, even a couple couches; definitely not what I expected. The decor is pretty eclectic - some mismatched tables, lots of knick knacks, small gifts for sale. There's even one cabinet full of stuffed dolls and animals for decor & also for sale and made by someone local. There's a huge chalkboard on the wall, which I'm a fan of by the way, and it has the coffee menu printed very neatly. Cool points! There were tons to choose from! There's also a small paper menu with their food options. I wish I grabbed or took a picture of one. My boyfriend had the Deep South Panini which had Pimento cheese, bacon, & tomato, and it was amazing! He opted for a soda instead of coffee. I had the Edenton Bay Panini, which had turkey, bacon, cheese, honey mustard, and I got it without tomatoes & onion. I also decided on a French Vanilla iced coffee with milk. I LOVED my coffee, didn't need to add anything else to it, and my sandwich was pretty good too! (The sandwiches don't come with chips or anything.) BEST thing about this place? The fact that they use coffee to make their ice cubes (they use it for iced coffee of course.) I had seen this tip on Pinterest before, but have never actually done it myself or seen it done. It definitely works! My coffee actually got stronger towards the end as it melted, and I had to give it to my BF, (who later became my fiancé that night. ) I'm not a fan of strong coffee, and he is. Anyway, they also have free wifi here. A blessing, because this town is so small that you will barely pick up reception on the streets as you wander. I seriously had a signal maybe twice, for like 30 seconds. Where do my docked stars come from? Customer service. As mentioned in a couple of other reviews, the woman working just was not the friendliest. I didn't feel too welcome. Whatevs, not here to make friends, but usually people at coffee shops, especially mom & pop ones, are nicer and more welcoming. Oh well. Would I come here again? Dear Edenton Coffee House Bakery & Cafe, Thank you for providing me with a great Pimento, Bacon and Tomato Panini (aka the Deep South Panini) upon my first ever trip to Edenton. While the ingredients are simple the house made Pimento cheese was gooey, tangy and creamy and worked well against the crispy bacon. Your shelves upon shelves of a unique variety of coffee mugs (Martin Luther King Jr., 7-Eleven, and Owl shaped to name a few) made the visit even more memorable. Thank you also for providing my girlfriend at the time (who later that day became my fiancee) with a delicious iced coffee with COFFEE ice cubes (genius!). The coffee flavor never wavered and in fact became stronger as the cubes melted in the cup. Really great coffee shop, highly-recommended. I admit I was a bit skeptical being someone who has spent a lot of time in new, hip, so hipster is almost hurts coffee shops in San Francisco, but I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. It's a fantastic combination of Edenton southern charm and modern coffee shop (Apple Pay!). They have a good variety of drinks available, organic coffees, loose-leaf teas, local treats, folk art, pastries, and in-house baked muffins (that were awesome). Best coffee in town! I usually order a bagel sandwich and/or a pastry and a cup of coffee. There is usually a flavored coffee option each day. They offer lunch as well, sandwiches, soups, etc. If we did have a Starbucks in town I'd still go to the Edenton Coffee House for my coffee. Great coffee au last; perfectly made. Lovely service and a comfortable place to site outside in the early morning sunshine. Lots of coffee choices with breakfast and lunch food as well. Everyone who came in greeted me (strange lady from elsewhere). Once again a great town to visit. I strolled up and down the main, Broad, street down to the park on the bay. I'm sure the folks that run this coffee house are goodhearted and well-meaning people but the coffee was abysmal. First they wanted to serve it in a Styrofoam or paper cup and only grudgingly searched in the back to find an actual mug at my request. Once I got it it was like hot coffee flavored water. Nobody no taste no character no nothing. It was just sad. I put the full mug minus 2 or three sips back on the counter and left having wasted good money and still not gotten my morning latte. I've never understood why you would open a coffee shop and not go out somewhere where they actually know how to make decent espresso drinks (SEATTLE?) and do some training. There is hope for this place if the owners would send a barista to do just that. read more
