When I entered a home decor boutique called Still Life, I smelled delicious aromas and was surprised to see a small dining area and kitchen tucked in the back, and a sign for "Cotton Gin Culinary." We weren't hungry at the time, but we returned a couple hours later for a late brunch. We were there on a Saturday and were able to get a table around 1pm. I ordered the mushroom soup and crab ravioli and my partner ordered the French onion soup and crepe. They served sweet potato biscuits while we waited for our meal. Everything was delicious and the entire dining experience was delightful.

Plenty of folks enjoying their drinks, chatting, and soaking in the atmosphere. I grabbed a seat at one of the larger tables, hopped on the wifi, and ordered a coffee to start the day. Their menu is impressively broad, with a huge selection of coffees and a generous array of breakfast, lunch, and brunch options--everything from baked goods and sandwiches to salads and smoothies. There's truly something for everyone. The wifi worked just fine, and the atmosphere was warm and spirited. It's the kind of place that buzzes with conversation and community. I stayed for about an hour, and it was clear this spot is a local favorite. Can a place be too popular? Maybe--but that's part of its charm. We all LOVED the charcuterie that came out first with local and seasonal items, as well as the starters (choice of scallops or sliced beet and goat cheese). The waiters as well as the chef came out multiple times to ask how we were doing. We all agreed that the mains could have been better. The lamb was overcooked, and the chicken dry; neither was inedible, we just expected more from this restaurant. The fish main was decent but not amazing. So whomever prepped the mains could work on that. We all enjoyed our desert. I really want to give this restaurant 5 stars and with a tweak of the mains I will be happy to. I also suggest a second salad option as not everyone enjoyed the option that was served. Our drinks were so exceptional we all ordered a second one which we rarely do.

The charcutery board wasn't what I was hoping for based off of how the restaurant presents itself, and the time spent on the meal seemed excessive. Despite this the chef alongside the servers were stellar and made the experience significantly better.
