Steak

I had such high hopes for this place but the food and experience is pretty underwhelming. The steak is pretty solid and a good value. The pizza is good as well. Was not a fan of the burger. The worst part of the experience is the service. I'm sure everyone is working hard and means well but training/standards seem to be lacking.

We did a roadtrip from Wilmington to Edenton yesterday and ate at The Herringbone. Turned out to be a great place with lots of character, great staff, and awesome food. We will be back for more. The chicken soup and Cesar salad was amazing, and the chef did a great job with both flavor and presentation. My daughter enjoyed the chicken sandwich and crème brûlée dessert. Thanks to the staff for making a great day!

Cool restaurant on the water and great place to catch the sunset. The building was originally an ice house for the hearing fish industry which thrived in this area. This is probably the most upscale restaurant in the area but well worth your visit. We started out with the brussel sprouts that were a little crispy so I'm pretty sure they were flash fried and had an amazing balsamic honey sauce along with fried pancetta. The crab cake my wife got was mostly crab little to no filler and very flavorful and her arugula salad and a fantastic dressing on it. My seafood pasta came with perfectly cooked shrimp and mussels and a wide noodle with a very light tomato sauce. The muscles were some of the creamiest I've ever had it was literally like eating a spoonful of peanut butter not with the peanut butter taste of course but that consistency of creaminess. The overall meal experience was absolutely phenomenal and I would definitely come back here again. We were celebrating our 35th but the atmosphere here is very casual you can easily come in with a sport jacket and tie or shorts and flip flops it has a secluded dining area along with a large bar area and either would be suitable for your fantastic meal. Service was excellent.

We stopped in on a Monday afternoon around 2:30. We were greeted right away and were able to choose where we wanted to seat. It is right on the waterfront and very tastefully decorated. We ordered a sangria and a beer to start. It had a great vibe there. We then ordered soup, salad with shrimp, and shrimp and grits. They were the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. The sauce had a Smokey flavor to it and was rich. The soup and salad were delicious as well. This is going to turn into one of our frequent stops for sure.

When I first visited two years ago, I gave it four stars but now that the restaurant has been in business longer and has "matured", I find the food is consistently better and it is one of our go to places in Edenton for drinks or a meal. You can dine outdoors if you have your pup friend with you. The Herringbone has become so popular that often reservations are strongly recommended.

The servers were nice and attentive, and the things we had tasted good. The cubed potatoes that came with the Not Another English muffin were really good.

Decent food, great selection of adult beverages, ambiance in both dining room and adjacent bar area, wonderful deck to enjoy when the weather is good!

View from our table. Recommend either size charcuterie plate & their delicious pizzas.

We stop in Edenton a few times a year & have looked forward to a relaxing dinner at the Herringbone each visit since they opened a few years ago. Varied menu with everything from small plates to full dinner. Lovely staff. Pet friendly outdoor seating with a spectacular view.

Lovely spot. Nicest sunset in Edenton. Great food and lots of choices - pizza, pasta, grilled meats, seafood . . . . What's not to love?

Great food in a lovely location. The Lima beans were fabulous and I don't like Lima beans. The view is fabulous.

I told the young female bartender and the larger bald security guard that I forgot my ID at my house but why does this prevent me from being in an establishment to support their musical artist (Ian Foutz) and purchase food? Why are my children (9 and 5 years old) allowed but I'm not because I'm almost 40 without ID but not ordering a drink? Why did the young female bartender tell me if she knew me she would serve me (even though i never ordered anything) without ID when she also told me the policy was unwavering and police are serious about people without ID in the establishment? This occurred on Saturday June 24th 9pm, 2023. Again I never ordered a drink at all, told the bartender I had money to spend for the establishment on behalf of me and my friends, was told I can't be there without ID, my children were allowed, I explained in Virginia I never experienced this nor in Carolina since I lived here. My family and friends could not believe the situation and we all left. It was the single most offensive experience at a professional business I've ever had. 5 people of my party were witness to this and two of them hertford locals who have opted out of supporting the establishment. I've been in NC for two years now conducting business with residents and commercial entities and have never been treated like this by anyone or any establishment. I just wanted to see my friend play music and eat some food with my family. I'm not sure if this is typical of the establishment or if I was singled out but I do not recommend this business as they have a zero tolerance policy for having a meal with your family without ID.

There was no one there to greet us when we arrived and no one at the desk when we left. We never felt welcomed - the staff was not particularly friendly and we felt like no one cared we were there. Our room was awful - the bed was uncomfortable as were the two chairs in the room. It was incredibly hot with no thermostat to control the room temperature. Our door was not sealed properly and the light poured through the door at night. Breakfast was a joke. For fruit I got three blueberries, two grapes and a half a strawberry with a half a slice of bread. Our coffee was lukewarm. Our eggs and toast were not cooked properly. It was so bad that even though we paid for two nights, we left after the first night and forfeited the cost of the second night. If you are going to Edenton, stay somewhere else.

We toured the venue early April 2025 with wedding coordinator Jennifer Byrum and loved the Inn and the Mulberry Sound space. Jennifer took notes on a legal pad with all of our details during the tour and promised us a great planning experience, open communication, and that they only book a limited number of weddings each year so each event can have the best service possible. At the end of April 2025, we called Jennifer to save our date and pay our deposit! During this call, we had to give Jennifer all of the details again that we saw her noting during our first meeting, this should have been a red flag. We immediately got a receipt for our deposit and were told we would get the contract in the next day or two as well as the info on room-blocks, vendors ect. Four weeks went by and we heard nothing. We checked in via text to Jennifer a few times and never got a response. We called and emailed in case Jennifer was out and we never heard back from anyone at Inner Banks Inn. Finally, at the end of June on a Friday at 8pm, Jennifer called with the Proprietor, Susan. Susan started explaining that they changed software systems and that was the reason for the delay in the contract. They began with wanting to confirm all of our wedding package details again, for a 3rd time, then finally asked us to confirm the wedding date we booked. Once we said the date, they said they had accidentally double booked the date, blaming the software change-over for the mistake. But said that we did book the date first so we could have first-dibs if we wanted to move to a better weekend or keep our date. We wanted to talk with family and friends before moving dates since we already gave many a heads up but they needed to know RIGHT then (after 4 weeks of no communication with us, they needed to know immediately). So, we chose to keep our date, and asked exactly when we would be getting our contract now. They promised again we would get it in a day or two now that the new program was up and running. Another week went by and there was no contract and no communication. Finally Susan and Jennifer called back and Susan said there was "no fair way to prove who booked first" and that it was impossible to say, so as a result we could not keep the date. Even though we had a dated receipt from when we paid our deposit, she refused to use that as any timeline proof, end of conversation. After more delay and many phone calls (unreturned), we got our deposit money refunded. Susan promised to refund us also for the money we already spent o, save-the-date cards ect, but we have yet to see any of that refund, 8-weeks later now. In summary: - wedding date was paid for and yet double booked - horrible communication - we were left with money spent out of our wedding budget, 2-months behind schedule, and without a venue - Jennifer and Susan are a huge disservice to what would otherwise be a beautiful venue.
