To be fair...I had never eaten from this location before and the food was actually bought for the staff in my office. We were all so excited. The presentation was really good but the actual experience and taste didn't match what I expected. The burger was well done and didn't have any taste. The avocado bowl wasn't ripe and it was hard to eat. The chicken salad was just chicken and mayo. New to the area and we are trying our local eateries. The service was friendly and were helpful in giving recommendations. The food was great, looked and tasted how we expected it to. The atmosphere was good, I would say it could be improved by staff not chatting so loudly to each other in the middle of the cafe. Looking forward to another lunch there. read more

My experience at the Pineapple Cafe was quite disappointing. The portion sizes were small considering the price, leaving me feeling unsatisfied. Additionally, when I inquired about the desserts, one of the workers admitted to not knowing and showed no interest in finding out. My husband and I were looking to grab lunch near the USCG base. We stopped in here and were greeted with a friendly staff person. The interior is quaint and clean. I had the blackened grouper tacos with the in-house ranch potato chips. Both were very good. The chips are a nice, because you don't get those in most places. My husband has a Reuben with fries that was also good. When in the area, we will definitely stop in again. read more

I've been here twice, and the service is not so great. First there isn't a sign that states to seat yourself, so we looked ridiculous standing in line to order our food assuming that's how it went. I was torn between a three or four star review - our food was fine but the service was a little underwhelming. I had the mustard chicken wrap with fries and my daughter-in-law had a Philly cheesesteak with fries. My wrap was tasty although on the small side and my serving of fries was only a small handful. My DIL said her cheesesteak was "fine" and her serving of fries was also on the small side. The bakery selections just did not look as good as they have in the past - I miss the chocolate/peanut butter brownie! We passed on dessert. We had a bit of a wait for our food but it was lunchtime and they were on the busy side. Staff was friendly but unremarkable. So nothing was particularly bad but it was not particularly great either. Under new management of Winter Pulley this restaurant is an excellent addition to local owned businesses in this area. I feel as though I immediately love a place when they have homemade potato chips. I get them every time I come here. The last meal I had was the cranberry turkey sandwich, and paired with the chips I was in food heaven. Their desserts are delicious as well. This is a great place to come for lunches and a large parking lot behind the business. I'd be heartbroken if something happened to this place. read more

We visited The Pineapple Cafe on a random trip to Elizabeth City & the day would have been a complete bust if it hadn't been for this good, filling lunch. Downtown was DEAD. I had the chicken salad on ciabatta special. Overall, it was really good. The chicken could have used a little salt by itself but it was fine with the bread & mustard I added. The portion was filling. My husband had the bacon pineapple burger. The patty was HUGE! Hanging way off the bun HUGE. He loved it. I was so excited to try this place out but was very disappointed. To begin my order came out incorrect, I had ordered fried shrimp tacos but received grilled and no one stopped back by to ask how everything was. I could definitely get past that since i was starving but on top of it the pineapple salsa that i was told was really good looked old and had no flavor, the kicker was the avocado sliver that was put on it was so small it was like why even bother?? I dont mind taking part of the responsibility for not speaking up but the fact that the accompanying parts of the dish were so lacking is very unfortunate. I'll try it again and order something more realistic like a sandwich next time. read more

I had an event in the area so I decided to use the Pineapple Cafe as my caterer. They delivered 50+ box lunches at the correct time and the order was exactly what we ordered. The sandwiches were delicious, the bread, meat and vegetables were fresh tasting. The cut up fresh fruit was a nice variety and also super fresh. The cookie was huge, soft, and yummy. Great place for lunch, a hidden gem in EC. Very busy place, lots of locals and folks from USCG base down the road. Service was good no issues and on point for a very busy lunch crowd. Food was fresh, portion sizes good and pricing not bad for what you get. I had the burger of the month which was a mushroom hamburger, good size and full of tasty. Had a hard time finishing it. My wife had the strawberry salad and she enjoyed it. We started off with some hummus and pita points, just outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

I started going to this Restaurant in August of 2021. They offer a creative approach to their dishes. I could taste the love the chief used to make every bite. The customer service is lovely, and the staff is pleasant. They made me feel warm and welcoming. Stopped by here while visiting ECSU. Great experience. I had the pineapple BBQ wrap, which featured crispy chicken strips in a great tasting combination of sweet pineapple and tangy BBQ sauce. My lunch partner opted for the vegetarian wrap, loaded with fresh veggies. On the way out we grabbed a couple of their oatmeal raisin-chocolate chip-macadamia nuts cookies. Yummy! read more

The pineapple cafe is a small local spot in a small strip of stores. You'd probably miss it if you didn't know it was there. It really is a great alternative to the greasy fast food options that seem to consume E City. Everything on the menu looked great, lots of fresh wraps, salads, and sandwiches. My fiance and I both had the buffalo bacon sandwich-Shredded buffalo chicken served on a roll with lettuce and tomato and topped with fresh bacon bits. It was served with your choice of waffle fries or regular fries. I also added a side salad. With me being pregnant, I thought I'd need it but I really didn't. Neither my fiance nor myself finished our meal. Best part was that our bill was only $20 including our drink. He had soda, I had water. Order the blackened fish taco's got brown lettuce on a taco, with fish that was fried rather then blackened and there was one bite of fish on each taco. I think I'm still full from yesterday's lunch. The Pineapple Cafe is a nice little place. Be sure to order the homemade chips with ranch dressing! Quick service. Maybe a little too quick? I had the California Croissant. It was okay. The croissant is described as toasted on the menu. It definitely was not. The croissant was store bought even though they advertise as a bakery. It could have used some toasting to remove the stale store taste. The bacon was also cold and boring and the sprouts were not crisp. The homemade chips are dusted with ranch seasoning. They are very tasty. Made to order would have been much better instead of sandbagging in anticipation of the lunch pop. I had a very freshly made strawberry cake for dessert. It was moist and delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. If they can bring their lunch offerings up to the level of their dessert then they will be a five star for me. read more
