I can't even begin to tell you how much of a pleasure it was working with Vince's Landscaping. I first had the privilege of speaking with Steve's wife (it was a short call and I wish I remembered her name). She was so sweet and listened to all of my concerns about our backyard and irrigation system. After speaking with her, she sent Steve out a few days later to evaluate our space. It has been 2.5 years since the work was completed and the pavers installed continue to sink and move. Not enough compaction of the soil was done prior to laying the bricks. Also, the pavers as a whole have never been flat. I did not notice this until I saw another house with the same pavers. Mine look sloppy, uneven and rough with little dips in the corners or edges or the whole paver, all over the place. The pavers sank some over the French drain in some areas too. I wish had hired a paver specialist for my pavers, given that there were over 2,200 sf of pavers installed (about half the job was for the pavers). I think Vince's would have done better with a smaller amount of pavers. Vince's Landscaping did well on everything except the pavers. I like their watering controller too, which they installed. We were connected to Vince's Landscaping through Yardzen, an online landscape design company that creates a design that is optimized for your budget, region and style. Once a CAD design is agreed upon, Yardzen assigns a top rated and licensed company to implement the work and that's how we met Vince's team. Everyone at Vince's was extremely responsive since we began working with them almost 18 months ago and their entire team was so patient and helpful throughout the entire process. We had to delay our project once or twice because we welcomed a new baby and didn't want any noise at the time, and the team was very supportive and rescheduled our project for a few months later within a few days of notice and without complaint. Once we got started, their tasks included getting rid of everything in our backyard (tons of old planter boxes, tanbark, old mulch, garbage, old lighting, etc., and then suggesting the best materials for the remodel (concrete, plants, wood deck vs concrete, types of rock, how to take better care of our existing trees, where we should place what amenities, electric and access to hose connections throughout our yard, etc.) Adam was our Project Manager and he was extremely knowledgeable about every single thing we asked - what color should we choose, what type of landscaping materials, the best plants, suggestions for extra outlets and water lines, etc. If you're an indecisive person (like me) Adam is the best at helping you choose what you'll need and what materials will complement each other. As others have said, there was a wait time for my project to begin, but I was forewarned about that. I just took the wait as a sign that Vince's Landscaping is well-regarded, and their services are in demand. Almost the entire old landscaping in the backyard was removed, and in an amazingly short period of time. The new landscaping was similarly installed more quickly than I had thought possible. Steve's crews were very efficient. A bit of a wait for one type of plant was simply due to lack of availability from the supplier. Steve understood that I was needing to solve a drainage issue, and also that I was participating in Contra Costa Water District's Lawn to Garden rebate program. I had used a landscape designer designated by CCWD, and Steve made sure that the necessary CCWD guidelines in the design were followed. He also suggested an additional feature- landscape lighting. In the short five minutes that he was at my home, I felt well treated and got the impression that Steve knew what he was doing. We wanted a fun, clean look that would be attractive 365 days a year. I try to make every effort to only work with local, independent businesses. Trust is paramount. I met with Vince at his office. He went over the basics of owning and installing artificial putting greens and artificial turf in general. He was honest and forthright. I also had the opportunity to meet his son Steve and Steve's wife who runs the office. I felt very comfortable. Vince came by the house to get the details to prepare a bid. I had looked at hundreds of photos of artificial putting greens online, including ones on his Website. I had a vague idea of what we wanted. I shared the ideas with Vince. He added a few suggestions as well. After accepting his bid, he did a conceptual drawing for us and we loved it. I was extremely impressed with Jose, the project supervisor. Each morning before they started work, he would explain what they would be doing that day. At the end of the day, Jose would walk us through what they did and what was on the schedule the next day. We have recently had our backyard completed by Vince's. It was a sizable project starting from pretty much a clean slate as we purchased the house with the backyard area undeveloped. The project included a Blue stone patio, an Ipe wood deck, compacted DG pathways, a small lawn, irrigation, electrical work, landscape lighting, planting... Steve, the owner was the point of contact as far as the business side was concerned.His quote was somewhat close to one alternative recommended to us and less expensive that another (while more expensive than what we originally were targeting). Also, they were booked for 3-4 months in advance but so were the others so we signed with Steve.  The business arrangements were somewhat less formal than I would prefer (in a sense that the cost of some additional work was not clear till the end of the project) but straightforward, no-BS and very reasonable. My overall impression of the work done is very positive. Esteban, the crew foreman, is extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented, the work ethics of everybody involved was impeccable and the quality of the results is great! There were a couple of issues along the way, one was taken care of (redone) at no cost to me and another (due to unavailable particular material) was resolved in an amicable compromise. I would wholeheartedly recommend Vince's services if their prices work for you (not the cheapest) and you have the flexibility to wait for them as it seems they are being regularly booked ahead.
