Let me tell…read moreyou a bit about what you can expect: The Lodge is set off a couple hundred yards from Gold Lake Highway, nestled in the woods at the trailhead to Round Lake. (You'll see a lot of day-trippers parked at the trailhead -- just hang a right to drive into the Gold Lake Lodge campground.) The campground is made up of three tent cabins, about a dozen small cabins, and the main dining room. Those who stay in the tent cabins will get a slightly more rustic experience: you'll have a full bed and a dresser in the tent, but bathrooms and showers are in separate outhouse-like structures (perfectly clean, hot water, flushable toilets, etc.). Those in cabins will live in luxury with their own bathroom and shower. Both can accommodate 2-3 people depending on how much you like one another, but 2 is probably the right number for most. Prices are substantially cheaper for the tent cabins than the cabin-cabins, but both are reasonable. The price tag includes a full-blown breakfast, snacks for lunch, and a gut-busting dinner. Meals are served family style, and you'll quickly learn the ins and outs about which dishes to order, but everything will leave you full. Steak features prominently on the menu, but there are many other options too. My favorites? The pork loin with "Gold Lake sauce" (whatever that is!) and the Buffalo burger (also, not coincidentally, with "Gold Lake sauce"). For breakfast, you can't miss with the "Gold Lake scramble". (See the pattern?) For dessert, the "szarlotka" -- Polish apple pie -- is the runaway favorite. The lodge is run by the ever-helpful John, and ably staffed by a small gaggle of Polish students, who return year after year and add a little bit of cosmopolitanism to the woods. Perfect for all types, very close to amazing hikes and lakes... pretty hard not to give it 5 stars.

The cabin is one of three nestled in the middle of a beautiful golf course surrounded by towering pine trees and lush, green landscape. Our cabin had that rustic charm, was spacious, yet cozy. When I say "rustic", the feel is rustic, but this is a newer built cabin with modern amenities. Full kitchen with new appliances, washer/dryer, cozy (again!) beds, plush towels. Yes! There is wifi so you can post all the gorgeous pics you take of the area onto your favorite social media! We encountered the cutest deer roaming around the property. The Living room area is appointed with the big comfy couch and chairs that a family could just sink into and hang out for hours. There is satellite TV as well in the bedrooms and living room areas. There is a wraparound deck that would be wonderful to hang out if the weather had been a little warmer. Rebecca, the property manager, sent our check-in packet well in advance of our arrival, and was so responsive when we had questions. The guard at the front entrance to the property was so sweet, she'd welcome us each time we arrived and even wrote down several surrounding sites for us to visit. Andrew, at the information center, was also really helpful, telling us about the property and even stopping by our cabin when we couldn't figure how to lock the French doors. There are only 3 cabins on this property because they are meant to showcase the home sites that can be built in Grizzly Ranch. It's a true gem if you are looking for a peaceful retreat in the mountains.

Its a short distance to the highway as well. We arrived late in the evening and there was so much going on. Broad street was buzzing with activity and everything is right at your doorstep. There are two reserved parking spots at the back of the house near the main entrance. At night (after 10, I'd say) there's plenty of street parking as well. The inn had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, blankets, pillows and towels. The kitchens were stocked with a wide variety of kitchen essentials. Upon arrival the place was pretty clean aside for some spider webs. There is a tv with DVR and Netflix which was VERY much appreciated. We were able to play some wedding themed movies while pampering and prepping for the big day! My only complaint is that there isn't enough lightening, especially downstairs. It can also get really cold because of all of the Windows downstairs. Bundle up and turn on a heater in the fall and winter months! Loved this place, I would definitely stay again.

What an incredible stay! We booked last minute to get out of town from the valley and many places…read morein the area were already booked for the weekend. Lucky for us we hit the jack pot and definitely realized after driving by all the other resorts, cabins, and inns that we ended up in the best one. Of all the other places you could tell these cabins had the best views and though close to each other still felt secluded. You have a full view of the meadow and mountains, not just the highway or another property across the road; we even saw a bunch of deer including a big buck! The whole property is also well past a golf corse so you really are tucked away. They are very dog friendly with lots of poop bags and trash cans as well a bag of treats at check in, they even will walk your dog if asked! They have free breakfast and unlike a many places it's not buffet style, they seat you and serve it up just like a typical restaurant breakfast but I wouldn't have minded a bit more variety. We can't wait to come back and stay in another cabin next time, maybe deeper in fall or even after a bit of snow; you can tell this property is breath taking any time of year.

The property is listed as a B&B on several platforms, the website features breakfast imagery, and the booking form asks for dietary restrictions, so we reasonably assumed breakfast and access to common areas were part of the experience. Instead, Room 2 functions more like a small private room rental with limited access to the house. We were surprised to learn upon arrival that we did not have access to the main house common areas. For us, shared spaces are a major part of what makes staying in a bed and breakfast enjoyable. The room itself was also extremely small. With a queen bed and a twin bed in the room, there was essentially no space to move around comfortably and no seating area at all. For three guests, there was nowhere to sit except on the beds, and simply walking around the room was difficult due to the tight layout. Breakfast was also not served. Two muffins were left for us despite the reservation being for three guests, and despite the booking form asking for dietary restrictions. We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years throughout California--both coastal and wine country--and the experiences we've loved have always included warm hospitality, welcoming hosts, shared spaces to relax in, and memorable breakfasts. The common thread in these stays is that guests are encouraged to enjoy the home itself, interact with hosts, and relax in shared spaces. That sense of hospitality and atmosphere is the reason we choose B&Bs. While the building at The Parsonage is historic, Room 2 itself felt very modern and generic rather than reflecting the character of a historic inn. To be fair, the owners later pointed out that the website includes a detailed description and a floor plan showing the limited access for Room 2. However, we found the wording easy to misinterpret when booking, particularly given the B&B categorization, breakfast imagery on the site, and the dietary restriction field in the booking form. At approximately $280 for the night (including a $50 fee for a third guest), the experience did not match what we personally expect from a bed-and-breakfast stay. This room may work fine for travelers who simply want a small private room and plan to spend most of their time out in town. However, for guests specifically seeking the hospitality, shared spaces, and atmosphere that typically define a bed-and-breakfast experience, Room 2 may not meet those expectations.

I searched forest wedding and Twenty Mile House was the very first one that came up. I loved that it wasn't too far of a drive away, the all inclusive packages and the accomodation option to stay on site for me and 53 of our guests. We had compared prices to similar venues but found it ridiculous that for the same price, we would only have the venue, tables and chairs at the other places. So with that, Twenty Mile House became the winner. We absolutely loved the vintage cozy look of the homes, the miles and miles of forestation leading up to and within the venue, and the most amazing staff i have ever experienced with. Both Rachel and Ashliegh were absolutely amazing! They both listened and made all of my requests come true. Some had to be compromised, but it didn't change much of my vision. Our bartender Jasper was absolutely amazing and so kind. The lights, the vibe, the music, all of the vendors... they all worked together like a well oiled machine and made every wedding planning moment up to the wedding day absolutely perfect. I'm a chill bride and solely trusted the vendors and Ashliegh on their skills and talent. I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous at times, but said yes when they said "trust us". They absolutely delivered! The cake was exactly how I'd envisioned it and was so delicious, the food was a huge hit for my husband and I and our guests (I wanted to takr home the meatballs and freeze them), the DJ was perfection, the florals were immaculate (more than what i had expected), and the photographer Rachelle was sooo kind and made our little awkward selves so comfortable. The reservation process was easy, and she made sure we had everything we needed when we arrived. We found a list of local restaurants on the dining table, which was very helpful. (Tip: If you're going downtown for dinner, don't drive -- it's a nice walk from the inn, plus it's hard to find parking downtown.) The inn is in a quiet area, and we slept quite well in Lola's room. In the morning, the breakfast Janet made was incredible! Egg and cheese croissant sandwiches with fresh basil, thick sliced bacon, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. One of the best meals I've ever had! The grounds are lovely. There is a pool and a hot tub, and plenty of places to sit and relax outdoors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so much that I wish we could have stayed longer! We definitely will next time. :)
